The hex recess in the level plug can get crusty with dirt and corrosion and wont take a hex (allen) bit. You can substitute a torx T-50 bit which will slip in and bite better.

Did you have any problems with your transmission after using this?????????

This doesn't work ,those air bubbles you see are coming from around the bleeder screws threads. You could put Teflon tape around the threads only, not the tapered end of the bleeder where it seals. These are almost impossible to get to work right

How did you diagnose your no crank no start after your clutch replacement

Important question for the comment section. I have a 2006 saturn Ion 2.2l 5-speed that has no hydraulic line from master to slave cylinder. (Discontinued part) But the part (slave and hydraulic actuator line) for the Vue is still in production, the bolt pattern looks identical between the two. Will it work? Because I'm planning to buy the two parts next week to attempt to get this vehicle running.

How successful it was?

I am in the progress on Saturn vue 2006. Front subframe bolts failed due to gm stupid design with technical window which has access to all rain penetration. It is a square window on both the sides. You would have to to weld the stop nut to body to remove both the front bolts As I continue I will inform on the matter. These technical windows must be protected by plastic inserts After welding I was able to remove the bolts and subframe. I will keep you posted about tranny removal and clutch replacement. Ps removing stabilizer is not obligatory.

That's not how you bleed one instead of the tube going straight down it needs to be up coming out of the top next to the radiator and as the air bubbles go down and out through the clutch slave cylinder the fluid won't change level but the bubbles will still come out and you suck on the hose ever so slightly and all the all the air will come out by creating a vacuum in the hose but up and it has to be long a long hose

Great video. one bell housing bolt not shown in the video is up on top of the starter. I got all the bolts out shown in the video and the transmission would not come down. Pulled that last bolt out and the transmission came right down.

Thank you for this video. I think yours is the only one out there with regard to a Saturn Vue manual tranny removal. Still not sure if I want to tackle this beast of a job in my garage, but at least I know it's possible for a DIYer to do it. I'm guessing putting everything back together was a pain in the arse. Taking things apart is the easy part, getting everything lined up to reinstall is the hard part. Thanks again. P.S. This same job at most shops is going to cost you $1300 to $1500 in most shops, I know because I've had it done 3 times in my '05 Vue.

Yeh valvoline site shows some saturns take different fluid . Some only 75 85 g4 gear oil from gm n some use same from red line some synchro mesh n some trans fluid depend on year n model

You keep calling a breaker bar a "cheater bar". A cheater bar is a pipe that u use to extend a Breaker bar or, any other wrench...to cheat & get extra leverage! I keep my breaker bars inside of their "Cheater bars" one is a T section of a scooter, it works awesomely!!! Ut also gives it a handle...but, when I need to get serious, I have a 5 or 6 foot pipe that I use!!!!!

Aren't the cam bolts also stretch bolts and need replacing when removing? Im trying to figure out the marking to line up the camshafts. Good video
