best book ever. MOST plausible of king's horror stories. WISH covid had been this leathal . . . A LOT of stupid people (& unfortunately innocents) would have died !

Saw it on TV when i was 14.....it blew my mind.....the feeling of unease it gave me blew my mind....it was the first film i saw where the entire population died and that was scary AF......what a masterpiece...it deserves every minute of it....

I've seen both versions. the second one sucked except for the ending. Goldberg was awful as Mother Abigail. I've probably watched this one about 20 times.

Recently started listening to Stephen King's rerelease of his book The Stand, with edited parts reinserted. The movies are slightly different, for example, Stu Redman gets taken to Atlanta for quarantine. I recommend this version of the film. And if you want to revisit the book, I recommend the audiobook. It's only 17 hours long!

Every time I hear Don't Fear the Reaper I think of the opening scene.

I like that the only song in this universe is "baby can you dig your man." Also amazing that they had vegas as fully functional with all the lights.

I don't know if it's the times we're currently living in or just me. But I've been rewatching this version over & over. Like it gives me some kinda comfort in a twisted way! Part of it is a nostalgic kick in me as I turn 48 today! I do wish their was an animated version that would go exactly by the book! Maybe it could be done with AI art,& secretly distributed among fans to avoid copyright law. Though if you're not selling it,idk if that would even apply. I'm currently working on a reboot of 'logans run' to explore the idea os an advanced ai in control. Using a false religion to control the behavior of a captive population. I doing the story boards of characters & set. Then I'm gonna set the scenes & story and see if the 'ai artist' can scan my style & fill in the gaps. Kinda fascinated to use ai as a partner in a story about ai control!

This is so clear that during the walk scene to Vegas I can spot the extras walking,never could before now!

The amount of good reconizable actors they had in this movie that can really act made it so damn good plus a good script and location also helps.
