Maisie! Right!! She’s woken the dragon of rhythm within lol. Can’t wait to play. I’ve several other hand drums but never knew these existed till I saw Maisie ❤. Also. Ngl. My mouth watered a bit when hearing “win a pair” 😂😂. I’ll prolly have to get lower end sets at first. Just to start to practice. Anyhow. Awesome work. Ps. Love how your demeanor flows, which I found to be encouraging and calming 😊

Hi thanks for the lesson! How do I know what is the right size when buying them?
Hey there IMClove So we offer three size of Kashaka balls and they all come with an easy adjust rope. We recommend the Laka Kashaka for smaller hands and the BOOM Kashaka for medium hands and then we also have a the Papa Kashaka for larger size hands. You can check out our website or find us on Etsy artisaninstruments.ca Thanks and have a great day
Drat! Looks like I missed your contest. Regardless, I'm curious about what you put inside your kashakas. I'll be watching for part 2 of your "how we make..." video.
Hey there Thanks for reaching out! we use BBS in our kashakas!! they make for a sweet sound! have a great day
The tongue has me laughing as well as a good lesson, I'm going to purchase a set. Thnx for lesson and giggle
Thank you so much Melanie hooper! We offer three different size Kashakas! You can see them all on our website artisaninstruments.ca Also you can purchase them on Etsy at artisaninstruments.etsy.com Have a wonderful day
Hi. I’ve been using some 50mm plastic Aslatua for about 9months but it sounds like larger ones give a better “click”. I’ve spent a lot of hours with these smaller ones and just wanted to ask if the larger ones would require much adjustment to my playing? Cheers. I’m over in Portugal and there’s not much choice but next time someone visits from the UK I could get them to bring some (although customs may be confused as to what they are 😊).
Hey Alan Thanks for reaching out. Super cool that you live in Portugal 🇵🇹 I visited there back in 2002 Absolutely love the place!! There is some difference in the sound for sure especially with the large Papa Kashakas. I would say that the small Laka Kashakas are the easiest to catch. The technique stays pretty much the same from size to size. Once one gets proficient I would say that you would have no problem switching between balls. Thank for the great question! 🙏 If you are interested we ship our Kashakas all over this fine planet 🌍 including Portugal 🇵🇹 Thanks and have a great day! Kristian power
What size are yours? I have trouble catching the end bc it’s short
Hey Cori We offer three different sizes of balls 1.75 inches/ 44mm 2 inches / 50mm 2.25 inches / 57mm These ones you see in this video are 2 inch/ 50 mm Thanks Have a wonderful day 🙏
Also you might find that your rope is to short and May need to be adjusted Bye for now
thanks youuu

😂 Thank you 🙏 I see that Vlahovic is a very talented human 😊
That was actually pretty helpfull !! Thankyou
Thank you Rafael Much appreciated We are glad to be of help.
Use the correct name, it called Asalato, from Ghana. I don't know why when you copy things from Africa you don't give credit.
Yes sir you are 100% right this instrument is called Asalato and originally comes from the oncoba spinosa tree which thrives in many parts of Africa including the beautiful Ghana 🇬🇭 Thanks for the info and I do apologize for not giving credit where it is deserved. Thanks 🙏
Wow! Beatifull!
Thank you 🙏
Thanks so much for the video, very very helpful!
awesome lesson
Where can i buy this asalato?
Good Day Miqueas Guzman, thank for reaching out. You can purchase these Asalato at our online store. Check it out at www.artisaninstruments.ca as well we also sell on the etsy wesite of that is more convenient!!! if you have any other questions please feel free to contact me any time. thanks
You make it look so simple 😊
can you tell me how long the string is between your kashakas? i’ve struggling with catching and want to blame it on the string length - it’s 4 inches
Hey there Blue Bass 2 thanks for reaching out. When it comes to the rope length we have discovered that it is all really dependent on the size of the players hands. Also when you are first learning to play it is advantageous to have your rope a little longer then normal. This helps aid in the catching. Not sure if you have seen our video on sizing your Kashakas Here is the link th-cam.com/video/V1JAfmFE5z8/w-d-xo.html This should give you some insight to the length of rope that you will need to give your self the best opportunities to learn this fun but challenging instrument! Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions or you just want to share your experience and thoughts 💭 Thanks and have a wonderful day Kristian power 🙏
@@artisaninstruments thank you!!!
Thank you for the tutorial, but can you teach us how to change the rope, since the hole is very small?
Good day Yes we would love to assist you with this rope threading 🧵 It can sometimes be a tedious process. If you like please email me and we can continue our conversation there. Also if you could send a photo of your Kashaka that would be great Me email is kpowerai@gmail.com I hope to hear from you Thanks Kristian power
I was today years old when I saw these for the first time. Now I MUST get a set and get to learning them. My drum circle friends will love them.

Where to buy it???
Hey there Rokas Here is a link to our website where you can purchase your very own Kashakas. www.artisaninstruments.ca Also if you have any questions please feel free to contact me anytime Thanks
Great lessons! Thank you. I am left handed but i "performed" way better with the right. Why is it so?
Hey there Daniele I am so stoked you are learning this fun and challenging instrument. Congratulations 🎉 Sometimes we find humans who are trying a thing for the first time can be better at it with their non-dominant hand 🤚🏾 They may have a tendency to lead with their non-dominant hand. Either way both hands can be trained equally it’s just a matter of time and focus. Whatever you practice with one hand do with the other and don’t forget have fun. 😆 Kristian Power 💥 🙏
Great video
Thank you Chardy!
Any tips on a small hand? When I try doing the top grab, I have to stretch my index finger far because the ball lands beside the other ball.
Good day WahtNub Thanks for reaching out to us here at Artisan Instruments!! You are right about the top grab it is a difficult one to master. My tip for you would be to try your best to relax your hand. This allows your fingers to be a little bit bent and try to put some space between your fingers. With this extra space between your fingers your hand becomes bigger and allows more room to catch the Kashaka. Also by having your hand nice and relaxed will allow the balls to move freely and move to make room for the other ball shaker to fit in your hand. I hope this helps you today WahtNub and have a wonderful day Rap with ya soon 🙏
@@artisaninstruments Thank you :)
I think my ropes are to long :( do you know a way to shorten them? The ropes dont go trough the shakers. If i hold the ball in my ring and pinky finger, the middel of the curve of the rope is about 1 cm away from my fingers.
Maybe more
Hey there N Armada This is a good question I have made a short video on sizing your Kashakas. Check it out and see if the information helps you there. Also do you have the traditional Kashakas ? Hit me back I would love to help Maybe you could send a phot of your Kashakas. If it is easier we can communicate thru email Mine is kpowerai@gmail.com Thanks N 🙏
@@artisaninstruments i think i was a little to quick to judge 😅 after practicing a few days i got better movement. It was more a bad posture thing than the rope length. Now catching the ball is way easyer! :)
I am sorry, but this is exactly how we shouldn’t play. Twisting of the hand is a wrong technique. Please check out some others who can actually play and see how they do it. I’m disappointed to see that people put stuff up TO TEACH, but have no idea themselves. I’ve been to enough workshops to say this, and carry on with my search elsewhere, how to play the cascas.
Hey there Julianna, you are absolutely right about the twisting technique. I have put that exercise in this video for beginners to use to help get the feeling of passing the Kashakas on both sides of the hand. I appreciate your feedback, thank you. I am sorry to have disappointed you and will be working hard on some future videos that will explain more on how to learn to play the Cas Cas. Perhaps you have some suggestions or references videos that have helped you to learn to play? Thanks again and have a wonderful day!
@@artisaninstruments I don't know. That twisty twisty was pretty rad to me. Thanks for this amazing informative video. More please!
I found this extremely helpful in getting the feel for it. I felt completely miserable and intimidated by my first attempts. There are no “wrong” ways to play an instrument if you’re having fun.
@@hookumsnivey1696 exactly, the only wrong way is one that injures you in a way (also longterm)
@jupianna, you're a downer
