Car & Track TV show: 1974 Dogwood 500
The syndicated Car & Track TV show and its host, Bud Lindemann brought a lot of auto racing to our homes during an era when few motorsports events were broadcast. Even the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500 were tape-delayed. Thanks to Bud for bringing our unsung heroes to the little screen.

Lancaster Speedway 1970 season highlights film and extra, unused footage -- PART 3
มุมมอง 9862 ปีที่แล้ว
In 1970, Lancaster Speedway (Buffalo, NY) promoter Ed Serwacki hired camera men from WKBW-TV Ch. 7 to film (on 16mm) special events at the track. The films were then edited to a 42-minute season highlights show, narrated by broadcasting icon Irv Weinstein. This is the show, followed by unused footage. Ed loaned his 16mm films to me in 1990 and I transferred them to VHS and later to DVD.

1967 Lancaster Speedway pre-season practice day
มุมมอง 8K9 ปีที่แล้ว
Lancaster Speedway near Buffalo, N.Y. Lancaster opened each season in April, almost a full month before other local tracks. This was shot on 8mm home movie film in April, 1967, one week before the season opened. The track held open practice and the cars were pitted in the infield due to wet grounds in the pits. The promoters were pushing for more modern Modifed bodies to rid them of their "jalo...

Oh my gosh ... Hurtubise Tire Sales ... I grew up in North Amherst and remember Jimmy with his front engine racer at the Indy 500 every year.

My late father James Wetzler Sr. who was late model Champion 1969 is also in this flick at 7m 16s. So cool to see this!

I think the dark demo derby footage is from the Erie County Fair. I bought this reel of 8mm film from an eBay seller in Arizona. When I transferred it to VHS (and then again to DVD), I asked him if he wanted a copy -- if anyone he knew was on the film. He just said, "No, I purchased a bushel of 8mm films at a garage sale and this was in there!" No idea how it got to Arizona or who shot it.
