Thank you so much! 🥰

Awesome! Thanks so much 😊
🥰🥰🥰
You make it look so much easier than when I do it, ha. Thank you for the tips!!
Happy I could help! 🥰
Wow! Thank you so much. So easy to follow. You give clear instructions and the video quality itself is amazing. Thank you!
Thank you! I’m happy it will help!
I have a question. I downloaded your pattern and directions a couple years ago. I am trying to make a hat for a 25 inch head so I followed your directions and made the extra Large. However, after being very careful with 1/4 inch seam allowances and making the hat reversable like you show here, the inside diameter is only 24 inches. I am making for a friend in Hawaii and he cannot try on for fit. He is sure his head is 25 inches. So I guess I need to make the 2XL?
Thank you for this great pattern.
Yes sometimes adding that extra fabric can make the fit smaller. I would definitely size up if you are finding the fit small. Each size is an inch larger in diameter so the next size up should fit him :)
@@toothandeye Thanks so much.
Thank you for the tutorial! I'll want to hand-embroider the front before I start sewing, so it'll be a while before I can report on my success of following the pattern, but I've already come up with a modification: I'll try to add some bias tape over the seam that sits against the skin. I hope I'll remember to update you on how it turns out!
That sounds gorgeous! I also have a tutorial for making them reversible if you want the seam concealed instead: th-cam.com/video/GGslWGDgsVc/w-d-xo.html
Dear Vanessa, Bravo! Please tell me the make and model of your domestic machine. I love your Babylock but am curious about your straight stitch, computerized machine.
Both are babylocks! The regular sewing machine is the babylock Rachel. Hope that helps!
What kind of stitch used to connect brim to bamd?
You can use a straight stitch or serge/overlock
It came out amazing, thank you for the clear instructions <3!
Oh yay! I’m so happy it turned out! 🥰
Thank you for this tutorial! I want to do ruching on a bed's headboard so I need to gather the fabric from both sides. What technique do you recommend for this please? Also, is there a certain type of thread that you recommend so that it doesn't break when you pull on it especially if it is a long piece of fabric..thank you:)
No worries 🥰 You could try the hand gathering method with an upholstery thread (or even a fishing line) or you could do the elastic method with an upholstery thread.
@@toothandeye Awesome thanks a bunch !
Hi, I brought some non-woven fabric to hold shape for a dress that I am making, do you think the fabric will be sufficient in holding the ruffles?
Most of these ruffle techniques should work for any type of fabric. If you are not sure, it would be best to do a small test strip to see how well it holds before jumping into your main garment construction.
Ok thank you so much!!@@toothandeye
Hello great tutorial! I am looking to sew this pattern without the zipper. Are there any modifications I should make?
You could use buttons instead or even an elastic, but if you are completely omitting the zipper opening and using a non stretch fabric you won’t be able to get it on or off.
@@toothandeye I appreciate the quick response! I am not concerned about wearability, just if the pattern needs to be altered.
If you’re not concerned about being able to wear it then you could just omit the zipper and sew up that whole side like a regular seam. No alterations really required for that.
Thank you! Really appreciate it :) @@toothandeye
I made my bias skirt before I saw your channel. Please help. My waistband is too much. The skirt is too loose. What is the best way to reduce the width of the skirt? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and God bless.
You would have to take in the full sides of the skirt or you could just adjust the elastic waistband, but the skirt will be a lot more flowy.
That was great; thank you. I am a beginner so it would help me to see a light colored thread on the dark skirt................Just an idea ! Thanks, Jan S.
Definitely a great suggestion!
such a great tutorial!!! question from a beginner beginner: i’m making a faux fur bucket hat - would i use medium or heavy weight interfacing? i know in your pattern you mentioned the heavier the fabric the strong id need the interfacing. TYSM!!! ❤
Faux fur can be pretty challenging to work with, quite the ambitious beginner project! You would want lighter interfacing for heavier fabric. The interfacing is just to help the brim hold its shape and structure.
@@toothandeye i’m going to develop my skills over the next few months and then hopefully be able to go for the faux fur hat by mid year. I appreciate your response 💕
Definitely! You can only learn and get better by doing!
Thank you for this!
No worries! 🥰
What type of fabric did you use for the lining? Your tutorial is amazing, I can’t wait to get started!
I just used a simple black quilting cotton, but you could using something similar, but with a pattern. Once finished these can be reversible!
@@toothandeyethank you!!!
I bought the pattern a little disappointing. It doesn’t tell you which way is the stretch and cuff says cut one weird what about the other sock. One and done
The stretch would be horizontal so it can stretch and form to your feet. For the cuff you can cut out two, one for each sock.
one more comment: do you think followign this would work on a stretchy velvet fabric too? should I size down to accomodate the stretch?
Sorry I missed this comment! You could do a stretchy velvet, but I wouldn’t cut the velvet on a bias as it already has stretch. You could size down, but it really depends on the stretch. Sizing down too much could make the style be snug instead of flowy. I would sew it up at your regular size until the point of the waist band, without hemming and do a test fit first. That way you can always take it in before the finishing seams. You might want to serge or zig zag stitch the seams instead of doing a French seam as well.
this was amazingly helpful and broke it down so easily!!!! thank yo so much
Thank you! I’m so happy it was helpful 🥰
You have some great techniques and tips, your bucket hat tutorial showed this as well, thank you 🙂
Thank you for such a nice comment! It really means a lot 🥰
Thank you so much!
No worries! 🥰
Easy peasy
So Good this video. Never attempted a bias hem before, you made it easy with clear instructions and and the video. And I liked that you video'd for those sewer's without the rolled hem foot. And so nice to see young people sewing and creating. Many thanks.
Thank you for such a thoughtful comment! Not everyone has access to, or can afford, every specialized sewing piece so I like to add alternative ways to create similar things with the most basic set up 🥰
Very helpful, thanks!
Happy it helped! 🥰
Actually that way easy and simple. Going to do this way loved that❤
Super easy way to use up left over fabrics!
I just finished mine and it is awesome! Thank you for the pattern and video instruction. :)
So happy it turned out!

Great idea! What are the green paper with holes for?
They are just reinforcement stickers for the hanging holes in the patterns!
Love the Bear material.. cute hat. I'm making some for Cancer survivors.
I love that! 😍
Uau!!!! Excelente conteúdo!!! Para as minhas confecções!!! Thanks!!!
Happy you enjoyed the tutorial! 🥰
Hii I tried to make this but my bust part is not sticking to my chest it's kind of sticking out can you please help me 🥺
Yes! It sounds like you need to decrease the bust size a bit. At the end of the main tutorial I show a couple ways on how to adjust the bust to fix this :)
@@toothandeye thank you I'll try this and post the results in cmnts ❤️❤️
Pattern downloaded and excited to get making 🙌🏼❤
Yay! Any questions along the way definitely feel free to ask me! 😍
I thrifted a bomber jacket in this exact fabric. Now I guess I need to hunt down more fabric and make a matching skirt!
Ahhhhhmazing! It’s such a fun fabric!
I tried twice and both and they both suck. I Guess im not a sewer after all. It does make a difference when you cut out a pattern. Maybe there should be a video on cutting out patterns.
Fabric plays a big part into how a pattern will turn out. Practicing with a simple quilter’s cotton and taking your time to cut out and pin each piece as accurately as you can will really go a long way. You can even try hand basting each piece before sewing with the machine. Unfortunately, patience and practice are the only ways to find success while sewing.
Can you gather with elastic by hand sewing? Thanks for the video!
You can! Just stretch out the elastic as you sew!
Or just make the wings and put a hole in the middle for the leash
You could definitely do that! My wing templates are free so you can do anything you wish with them 😘
At 5:06 or so, would it be possible to use a zig zag stitch instead if we don't have a surger?
Definitely! Just make sure you zigzag stitch right along the edge
@@toothandeyeawesome, ty!
Is seam allowance added to the color pattern?
Seam allowance is included in all my patterns unless stated otherwise. This particular pattern has a 1.5cm or roughly 5/8” seam allowance :)
Super nice! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
This is so simple! You explain things just so well and I really like your voice btw. ^^
Thank you so much! 🥰
This was sooo helpful!! I was looking to make a skirt this exact style, without zippers, and with this kind of waistband, yet couldn't find the right video, so this helped tremendously. Thank you!
Yay! I’m so happy it helped!
Hi! Such a great video! Do you have a link to your sewing machine? Also, what do you make your patterns out of? Thank you!
I don’t have a link for my sewing machine, but the one I’m using in the video is the Babylock Imagine. As for my patterns I make them by hand then finish them off in illustrator and photoshop.
Yep, I will be trying this, too. I buy way too many rounds. Great Idea! Thank you!
It’s perfect for left over fabric scraps too!
How would one scale this up for large feet? Trial and error? I am trying to learn to make clothing for myself, but I am.. A rather large human. I wear US Men's size 16 shoes. Should I just take diametral measurements of various points of my feet/heels and scale the pattern to match widthways?
Trial and error would be the easiest method for beginners. You can try printing off the pattern at a larger scale (105%, 110%, etc) and making a test sock. Or you can print off the pattern, assemble it, cut it in half length and width wise, then spread those pieces out by a 1/4”, tape them on paper, and recut that for a larger size. Only cut and spread the cuff width wise. If you made the sock exactly to your measurements they would be too lose because of the stretch of the fabric.
