... where aircraft are auto-tracked around airports and on final approach! The OnFnl cameras use the GPS data broadcast by each aircraft (ADS-B) to track them. Currently, the OnFnl camera network consists of 3 test sites - KRAS (near Corpus Christi, TX), 40XS (near Austin, TX), and GA2 (near Atlanta, GA). All 3 cameras are featured during the "OnFnl Tower" live streams.

❤
Like buttah!!
And still lands midfield!
WTF is the first word in the description?
My bad play on words ... that's a Cirrus SR22 aircraft. My three boys have heard worse :)
Good Landing❤
Nice landing
Nice landing, that's a sideslip
Hi Mike, I wasn't sure if it was forward or side or both (been decades since my PPL) so I googled it and found that where the nose points is an easy identifier - down the runway = sideslip, away from the runway = forward slip.
Flying that approach
Great job! Still a little bit fast on landing but an excellent one since he can use the aircraft again. 👍
That's no pilot, that's an AVIATOR!
Done that before I guess!
Smooth move
Beautiful landing.
This is the first T6 that I soloed in. I first flew this plane in late Jan. 1979 - March 1979 when it was registered under a different N# - it was based in Epps, La. Part of a group of T6s that flew combat in the French Airforce in Algeria.
Is that an off the shelf system of a custom system?
Custom (in development phase, weekend hobby)
Sweet video! I especially appreciate the airspeed/wind data etc at the bottom of the screen, changing in real time. Useful documentation.
While the slip was cool, the triple landing left a little to be desired. "And what was the time of the landing?" ..."10:53:10, 10:53:13, 10:53:16"...😄
He’s nowhere near the trees, c’mon man.
900 ft to spare.
Auto-tracked?
The camera was auto tracking the T-6. That's why it didn't follow the plane.
He didn't flair on final causing a bounce down the runway. I give the pilot a 6 at best. Too low of an approach. Flaps good.
Darn… any wind aberration and the pilot can scrape himself off the trees
We call that "contour chasing in the flare".
Outstanding👍👍
How could you do it better?
Maybe not bouncing 4 times
I knew he was going to land when I saw his (edit: gear) was down and locked
Better speed control on landing, hold off longer in the flare. He had lots of rising runway ahead. He (?) got the job done, but an instructor would've wanted to talk with him after that landing.
Looks like a fun field to fly into.
Tough LZ but he nailed it…..
That’s the AOPA 170, isn’t it? Sounded like Kayla on the radio.
yes
These shots are 100% automated? Is this Iris Automation tech?
Yes, the aircraft tracking is 100% automated using my own software (weekend hobby)
Nice camera work - not.
Set down like a butterfly with a sore bottom
Dam short as shit to be airborne
Great performer, but there is no way I would sit out way forward like that with no protection!! The aircraft was designed for National Geographic years ago as a filming ship, so that's exactly why it is designed the way it is!
That's a lotta power in a small plane!
Regarding "rocket", I've heard other plane spotters refer to commercial takeoffs that exceed 3000 ft/min as "rocket takeoffs" - this AirCam seemed to hit 500 ft in about 10sec so X6 would be 3000 ft if he could sustain that climb for another 50 seconds.
What is the function of the word "rocket" in the video title." Notice the clockwise roll at the moment of liftoff...a momentary shortfall in lift from the right wing?
No, it was pilot induced. May been holding a little aileron for a crosswind, and then let out because it wasn't needed.
Like kissing a sleeping infant.
Perfect A+
Sweet
It continues to amaze me that not everyone is fixated on aviation. Beautiful landing, I'm in awe.
Yeah! What is wrong with them?
Speaking as a pilot myself that was an excellent landing.
Nice, smooth landing 👍
Just saw this came up! That was me! Thank you for the great video!
You're welcome! I usually include the tail number in the video title to make it easy for pilots to search the OnFnl channel.
Jerry, I recognized your tail number in today's activity at Mustang Beach so I uploaded both videos (nice landing!) - enjoy :)
@@OnFnl thanks! this is so cool, appreciate your work!
Flared too high it seems..
Is this abush bush pilot.
This is very cool! What's the basic approach? Is it GPS-based?
Hi Jeff! Correct, it uses the GPS data that's broadcast by the aircraft once per second (ADS-B broadcast) and compares that position to the camera location to figure out where to point the camera.
@@OnFnl Very cool. Are you based out of GA2? I'm at 2GA9 with a Pitts S1C and a Baby Ace.
@@jeffboatright I live in the Dallas area.
Auto-tracking camera? That is a cool idea! Looks like you're almost there with it. Best of luck with further progress and thanks for being willing to upload these videos on your path to perfecting it.
Scary for sure!
I'm assuming there's a clip coming where we see the plane taking off between the trees.
Jim, the full takeoff is at 13:33 local time - th-cam.com/video/-0iHVOb9RnI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fQiH9YYQcAv0hhdh
Nice camera work
