Do females have the orange tips on the dorsal fins? I have like 7 Juviniles around 1.5”. A lot have that’s orange tip on the dorsal. Wondering if only males have that. Thanks

I’m having this issue , literally swapped out the whole motor and impeller .. still nothing .. you could hear it like humming for a couple secs then it stops .. I’m giving up , any other ideas ??? I need help ..

You might use q-tips to clean out the motor debris. Then rinse.

This worked and got my fx6 running again but now it’s making a weird noise. I guess that’s better than it not working. Lol

Don’t forget to clean and lub all your seals rings including the seal inside your purge valve dial. Just remember how you took it off. Some are not aware that there is one in there. It can dry out even if you don’t use it often.

So in my case the impeller runs intermittent. Its probably less than a whole second it stops, starts, stops, starts etc over and over. When I had it out and cleaned the impeller and such I actually had the motor running fine. But installed it does not :(

I Had my fx 6. Stop working…….. 2 years after i bought it……. I thought it was the impellar. And cleaned it……. Still didnt work. It ended up Being the motor. Had to buy a new one

Good tips thank you they also sell a service kit with all the gaskets and new impeller I think. I run two fx6’s one on my 110 and one on my turtle tub that’s 270 gallons I love these filters they’re just beasts

My filter totally self primes, every time. Going to clean my impeller tomorrow, noticed a reduced flow, been 4 years running, guess I was on borrowed time LOL.

Just few ideas and leporanius. Just some random ideas. Peace!
