love your vlogs man
What do you shot yourself with?
Amazing info dude!
Appreciate it!
Great video this week bro. Always appreciate your blunt honesty.
Thanks for stopping in bro!
Hey taylor! I would love to hear about your income sources as a full time producer and artist!
I can get into this! The short answer is that it's very difficult, uncertain and stressful at times but we can get into the details in a future vid 🙏
I agree with you on this. If you can nail down the music and the brand everything else should fall into place
Once in a while I only took like 1 tbsp 😅😂, but most of the times I'd prefer iced americano or iced caffe latte or just cold water or iced tea to get through the nights. Gotta stay focused & make sure muscle recovery as good as possible after gym.
Hahah I totally agree!
I've been feeling like I've been neglecting my local market by not playing local shows and focusing on production instead. Thanks for helping me validate that decision 🤘
Glad you found this useful bro--it all depends on your goals. But I think you want more than just to be the local guy
I'm always looking forward to these videos man! Excited to see the set 👀 Question: How long did you sit down/plan out your branding/identity as an artist, and how much has that changed since you did? I am not wanting to put too much stress on myself making everything perfect, but I still want to put out higher quality content, but making better music is much more important at the moment. Do you think it is okay to have larger breaks in between social media posts while building your rep. as an artist?
Great question bro, I can cover this in a future episode!
Thanks for the response Taylor - definitely calms the anxiety I had around the fact that our local bookings dried up this year compared to last. We've been laser focused on producing as much music as possible and will continue in that direction :)
You guys have what it takes, keep at it. It's not an issue of talent or skill, keep cranking ideas
Very solid observation. Things really almost never go as planned but that shouldn’t be an excuse to simply give up!
Exactly! Plan on things not going to plan
Dude this is so sick! Super helpful! Would love to hear you talk about your transition from lawyer to DJ. I super resonate with that since I just finished my PhD and want to pursue DJing... A follow-up question on that. Is it possible to have two careers? Engineer by day, DJ by night. Thanks Taylor. Loving the vlogs!
Great suggestion! Will cover this sometime soon!
This concept is one of the best bro! I look forward watching these. Your section to Xanders question hits home. I’ve been working on dialing back on local shows for this exact reason. I’ve dialed back this year and next year I’m cutting it down to 2 per year as well. I’ve been absolutely blessed to have met some amazing people that are in the industry and have seen what I have to bring to the industry as an artist. In order to get there I was encouraged to refocus my energy on building my brand and my sound. Once I started to do that I realized that stacking up as many shows as possible as a local DJ didn’t bring me the same sense of accomplishment. Building something bigger than ourselves is where it’s at. The brand, the music and the community. Much love bro! I’ll see you at Dreamstate
You get it bro! Takes discipline but keep your eye on the prize 🙏🙏
@@taylortorrenceofficialI am and I’m hungrier than ever! I have good people like you to thank for the inspiration and positive examples.
Cheers to Xander for the question, been feeling guilty for not playing out as often. But the focus is to become an artist, at least for me- I’ll get behind the decks for real again in time 💪🏼💪🏼 -SISI
I believe in you tremendously!
Huh, I never thought about avoiding the title of "local talent" by only doing local gigs. This just puts me in a hard spot though, as I create new mashups and songs (coming real soon actually...), how do I make content to post on socials, to gain followers and reach? I feel like I *have* to do some sorta gig to show off the new tracks, right?
I don’t think you need a gig to show it no! Check out some of the content I make to promote my stuff without playing it to a crowd 🙏🙏
I limit myself to 1 show in my home city per month as I'm still working my way out of 'local' niche. Otherwise I'd play maybe 3 or 4 times per year lol Super helpful info in this one man and I appreciate your continued insight!
Keep going bro 🫡🫡
Great insight into that question. So hyped for Dreamstate!
You and me both! See you there!
great words thanks man
Always bro!
Another great one 💥
Thanks for being here my man!
Love that you're keeping with this bro and seeing ya every step of the way. Keep at it man!
Always! Thanks my bro
Wow this is really eye opening and makes a ton of sense. I started doing some opening slots and it’s cool for the connecting but I won’t be making livable money till I’m the headliner…
It’s a tough decision and takes discipline man but keep grinding on productions!
im loving this series brotherrrr
Thanks for being here bro!
I choose a question from the comments to answer every week. If you want my take on something, ask it below! 👇
How do you keep you sets fresh? I provost have 2 sets maybe without recycling most of my tracks. How do you keep putting out mixes and shows without getting bored.
The effort it took to set up the cameras in the beginning walking scenes 😅
Haha gotta have some fun with it
Track ID @ 2:50 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 such a dope remix
Space 92 remix!
How much time is necessary to master a track. How do you get it so clear sounding?
Great question asked by whomever that was and great episode 🔥
18:20 use your car lights next time!
Haha we tried! It looked worse than expected
I'm enjoying this a lot
Thanks for checking it out brotha
Thanks for another great video Taylor! Curious to hear your thoughts on the dynamic between your local market and achieving success as an artist. Our home city has a relatively small scene for electronic music compared to other major metropolitan cities across North America, to the extent that one of our staple dance music club just replaced its Friday, that was dedicated to dance music artist bookings, with a hip hop residency. I see a lot of discussion around leveraging and developing your local scene, but also a lot of advice about ignoring your local scene and avoiding confusing local success with REAL success as an artist. I'm torn: local opportunities have connected us with international touring DJs, but we've also developed similar relationships just from our music releases and digital networking. How valuable do you think playing local shows are? Is it something you should prioritize or just a nice-to-have when your music is already succeeding? Very curious to hear your thoughts and personal experience. Thanks!
Dude I LOVE this topic. I got you this coming week with my thoughts 🫡
That’s a great check in to have with the self. “Am I playing in my comfort zone?’ I’m so used to putting myself into discomfort that at this moment I THINK I’m doing the challenging thing, but def could make be making bigger moves. Shit. 😅
Hahah the moment you realize this, you’ve now found yourself back in the comfort zone and the goalpost now changes again 🫡
Taylor's the man! Such a good dude! inspiring! Follow your dreams!
🙏🙏🙏
another monday, another tt banger vlog
much appreciated bro!
Playing my first show on the 15th. You def have been a great mentor for sure and I'm glad you're making these vlogs. Question: Trying to figure out my sound at the moment is tricky since I love all music. What moment made you switch from producing Progressive Trance to focusing more on Techno? Hope to see you at Dreamstate!!!
haha ohhh man you gonna get me in trouble with this one 😂
@@taylortorrenceofficial🥴🫣😂
Great vid again! Quick question for you as both a dj and cosmic academy professional - do you think you need to be in LA, NY, or Miami these days to truly grow as a dj/producer? I lived in LA for 15 years and am currently in SD but have been contemplating a move back up to commit to growth, progress, and exposure. cheers bra
Great question, will cover this soon!
Very insightful man! You’re a great speaker 🙏
Appreciate you checking it out bro!
Love the insight man, Question: How do you deal highs vs. the more steady or even slow times?
Thanks bro, gonna cover this soon!
Thanks for the insights!
Very insightful, I appreciate you sharing this with others, so Thank you! It was great getting to find out about you at the Hiyu and appreciate you listening to my little bit before you went up to the decks! ❤
Thanks so much and glad this resonates! Really cool to meet you dude!

It’s fascinating hearing how your personal growth as a person shapes your business. Wish you all safe travels!!
Glad you enjoyed this! And yes I often feel like entrepreneurship is the best reflection of our personal development-it tests you strongly!
Really enjoyed listening to you Got a subscriber.
Thanks and welcome! Glad it resonated!
Great video - really appreciate the insight. I had a turning point around two years ago that catalyzed a change in me to significantly reduce my drinking to levels where I never drink enough to get a hangover anymore and its been a great boon in my life.
Couldn't agree more bro--our goals are just too important to risk
Don’t know who you are, but ran across your video and I actually really like your channel. Really excited to follow your journey now. Keep it up the great content 🔥
I appreciate that! Welcome in! Appreciate you man!
Inspirational bro. Love to hear personal stories like this!
More to come! Thanks brotha!
The sobriety piece was great bro. Specifically the not having time portion, time flies and the older you get the more the recovery takes and at that point it’s not worth it. You’re a great example 🙌🏽🫡 My question is: How hard was discipline for you before you started to gain some traction in the music game/gain a good following? How did you go about finding what worked best? Setting boundaries and sacrifices? I feel like discipline is 100% what lies between us and our goals.
Amazing question-covering this!
King Taylor ❤
First video of yours I'm seeing. Love your mindset, love the vibes. Subscribed. 🔥
