Thanks a lot for your post. However, Governor’s consent can be found in the Land Use Act of 1978 and simply refers to the approval of the Governor of every state of Nigeria of any transaction relating to land. It isn’t a land title , it is simply the approval of the Governor given to Mr A to transfer the land to Mr B. Secondly, once a land has a C of O , subsequent owners can only get a Deed of Assignment. The deed of assignment can be issued by the Government via its Deeds’s Registry as many times as the land is transferred. The deed of assignment is a registrable instrument. Thank you once again for taking in this knotty subject matter .

I lasted buying properties in Nigeria last year and bought 3 in my sister's name and 2 in my brother as well. I have since been told they could actually sign on my behalf which they have done on other properties.
