I have another thought. I've Also seen Hayward Sp1030 drain covers get replaced with Aquastar 10avr103 drain covers before.
The Hayward sp1030 cover is still made by today is a Chinese version of the Hayward sp1030 cover
@@Haywardpowerflolx I know. I saw a TH-cam real of them being packaged
This design existed in the 1980s too. But probably by a different company
I think this design of drain cover by a different company was probably flat
I know Afras will float away as well
@@jaybird2000 Lots of anti-vortex drain covers will float away when it’s not securely attached except for Sta rite 07017 when it’s not securely attached, it’ll still be on its sump
I'll also want to say, plastic drains came out in the late 70s.

All dangerous drain covers here
@@jaybird2000 those drain covers are not VGB compliant comparing the new drain covers
These drain covers ain’t dangerous. If you stay away from them then there’s no issues. People just don’t have common sense anymore. It’s the people that’s dangerous, not the covers.
@TheJakeman789 Well Sometimes People don't even see the Drains. Especially in Hot Tubs where you can't see them due to the blower being on most the time. So therefore, the Non VGB Drain Covers are Dangerous.
@@TheJakeman789 older, swimming pool drain covers are dangerous people go near them for no reason you see people live those grates up and stick there hands in there. Teenagers were attractive to them. They wanna see what’s inside of them and some teenagers would dare somebody to take off the great and put their hand in there or to sit on it. sta rite model 0741 is the safest drain cover Hayward SP 1048E is also another safe drain cover it was more towards teenagers sitting on the covers and people who own public pools just don’t care if the drain is securely on or not
I've never seen this one
@@jaybird2000 me too, never seen it before
I have another Question. Why does Aqaustar still make Some Drain Covers with holes on the sides only like this one?
@@jaybird2000 that’s a really good question. Aqua star made a drink cover like that but had a square adapter for it.
Well im not swimming in any Pools outside the Usa.
@@jaybird2000 commercial pools in Canada have VGB compliant covers
@Haywardpowerflolx Oh good. I've also seen pictures of Pools in Mexico with VGB Covers as well. Though in Mexico, it's a Single Drain.
I've seen alot of these during my Childhood. I believe they Replaced Flat drain covers with these before the Vgb law.
That cover does not comply with the Virginia grand Baker law because more water gets forced around the side and there’s no holes on the top like the waterway plastics cover
@Haywardpowerflolx but what I meant was, before the Vgb law, these drain covers replaced Some broken flat ones.
I have a Request on my mind. I want to see you do a review on the pool drain cover from timothy green.
I don’t have the Aqua star drain cover if I ever do get one I’ll make a review on it
NOW THAT LOOKS LIKE PURE NIGHTMARE FUEL!!!!!!!
Lot of older Pentair square covers work thin that’s why they break
@Haywardpowerflolx That's probably why Pentair Started making Raised Drains in the late 80s, like the Afras Design. But even the Afras Raised Drain Covers would Brake. I was at a hot tub in 2006 with afras Drain Covers. One was Missing, but was on a table completely broken. The one in the Hot Tub was Cracked as well. When they upgraded to have dots on the top, they made them Stronger.
@@jaybird2000 pentair discontinued, the Square drain cover when the Virginia grand Baker law came in act the waterway, 10 pack fan and color match pool fittings and aqua star wonder their drain covers share the same design of a afras drain covers the afras drain cover is slightly taller than the color match pool fittings and aqua star the original afras drain cover, had a flat top and instead have a bump on top of the cover the newer ones have a bump on top of the cover and 2 feet on the bottom afras drain cover does not comply with the Virginia Graham Baker law because waterway had the same design cover and they were testing drain covers it shares the same design as the waterway drain cover with no holes on the top waterway WW6402317V and 806105365736 642-2150V and 806105366351 WW 806105366061 WW all those different models of waterway. Drain covers are different colors. Those the ones with the holes on the top and they’re the replacements for the original one without the holes on the top.
@Haywardpowerflolx The Afras Drain Cover was the First Pool drain I ever laid eyes on. I was Scared of it when I was little, but it's actually a interesting design.
By the way, in the Movie Timothy Green, I thought the Drain he was sitting next to was a Aqaustar cover.
@@jaybird2000 when I see it didn’t look like a aqua star
@@Haywardpowerflolx I wonder what it is. It's probably Non-Vgb because it has larger holes
@@jaybird2000 the older style drain covers had larger holes and it’s easy get the hair tangled and nose covers compared to the vgb covers that had smaller holes
Yes. I was at a pool in the Early 2000s that had these in the Hot tub, and the Clover shaped version of those on the pool mounted on the wall.
@@jaybird2000 Love pool dreams from the 2000s were square or circle, and I thought the waterway was the only company that made a clover shape. Do you know the name of the drain cover?

@Haywardpowerflolx Nice, Have you seen the trailer for the movie timothy green? Part of the trailer, he's sitting close to a pool drain.
@@jaybird2000 I google search the trailer of the movie Timothy Green do you ever seen the movie night? One the parts of the movie had a old sta rite drain cover in that movie
@Haywardpowerflolx I haven't seen the full movie, but the part where's he's sitting by the pool drain, which is also seen in the trailer, looks like a Aqaustar drain cover. And there's another pool scene?
In lazy rivers the drains have to be flat to prevent toes getting jabbed on raised covers when people are moving down the fast currents. if they are floor mounted, that’s why you will see some lazy rivers have abnormally large drains and that’s to make them Unblockable since lazy rivers have to put out more power than your average pool does and smaller drains pose a bigger entrapment hazard. They look scary but in reality they are safe as long as the cover isn’t damaged or missing.
@@coastlinecruiser8429 raise swimming pool drain covers have smaller holes than the flat ones. The flat drain covers have bigger holes and they can cause suction treatment. It’s hard to get stuck on a raised cover because it’s anti-vortex.
Looks scary, but i think the Sta rite prism break looks even more Scarier.
@@jaybird2000 the Sta rite cover crumbs to peace
@Haywardpowerflolx By the way. My Childhood apartment currently has all waterway drain covers, with the dots on top. Before the Vgb law, for floor drains, they used Afras, and for skimmer equalizer drains, they were like, these 2 inch flat Hexogon shaped drain covers.
I Actually learned that Afras came out in 1987.

They Still use Illegal Rectangle Drains in some of the Pools, the Other Pools Had Sta-Rite Drain Covers, With the Triangle Holes, but they Got Replaced with SDX Paramounts.
