Kids brains are still developing a lot. Not, imma say something controversial, so prep yourselves if youre soft. But its a lot like pets. Your pet doesnt understand words, they understand tone and "energy". A small child's brain is still developing. If you tell them "no" and not to do something in the same gentle voice you talk normally to them in, they arent going to be receptive to it. The sternness, and the authority in your voice when you scold or chastise them, activates the same parts of their brain related to survival. The kids whos parents 10,000 years ago, said "Ug-malo dont go near that ledge. 🙂" fell off the fuckin cliff. The ones whos parents said "Ur-dima get away from the edge! 😠" lived to breed. Hypothetically speaking. "Love" isnt alway gentle and nice and smiles. Its knowing when you need to do the hard stuff that might not immediately be nice, but good for the future. You dont love your kid by filling them with sweets until they're obese, for example. Thats not love, just because it makes them happy.

No extreme yelling and cursing at your children. Emphatically and sternly raising your voice definitely. Also, a little thing involving swift contact with the buttox solves disobedience rather quickly.

Gentle parenting has been happening since the early 2000s...today we see it, and its ugly. Literally nobody has consequences, the few times they do experience it turns onto pure 5 year old tantrums tears, screams, yells then the inevitable social media meltdown that follows. Can't wait to see thier kid's

They need to just stop. Jumping from the passive crap to the out of patience, aggressive crap is the worst type. You have lost control in each and your kids will feel "unsafe" and act as inconsistently as the parents do. Start with and stay at assertive, mean it, and stop terrorizing the kids with "your bad skills"

Yelling at the children in these circumstances was unnecessary. In most cases it is bad parenting. What would produce results is calm explaining, making sure they understand, and then a consistent punishment. The punishment needs to be fair, predictable and done with love. Kids then know what to expect, what others expect of them, and learn communication skills. Yes, all this is much harder to do than yelling, but being a good parent and producing good children is a difficult and high endeavor.

If you have ever seen puppy dogs interact with their parents, if the pups are acting rambunctious the mom will growl a bit and if they still act rambunctious, then they get the nip.

Gentle parenting is why our kids are weak now a days. We need to raise them the correct way how our parents raised us back in the day where we have no problems raising our voice or giving a asssss whooping when needed

It's always the people who forget the parenting part of gentle parenting. This is simply gentle speaking. You still have to set reasonable boundaries and expectations and then enforce the consequences of not respecting those boundaries or meeting those expectations. That's the whole parenting bit, and it's kind of essential. Don't get me wrong, I get the joke. And as a parent myself, i even relate and find it mostly funny. But it does still feed into the whole gentle parenting = permissive parenting, and that simply isn't the case.

There are 3 basic types of parenting. Permissive, authoritative, and autocratic. Anything goes with a permissive parent. The children are in charge and they know it. An authoritative parent is in charge, the kids know it and act accordingly. There are clearly defined rules that are enforced. Autocratic parents are overly strict and are dictators. Being authoritative is the ideal. I used to be autocratic and was having a lot of trouble with my strong willed child. I took parenting classes, and just like the parents on Nanny 911, I was very shocked to learn that I was the one who had to change, not my child. I changed over to an authoritative style and had very successful results.

Being assertive in parenting is essential. Especially between the ages of 0-4 years old. Assertive is not aggressive, and if properly done, it will not lead to aggression. Children, by their nature, are narcissistic and, if not properly, dealt with, which will lead to older narcissists. That is what is destroying the world, and it all starts with poor parenting.
