/ Country and Western Jamboree Palace Records PST 718 Dedicated to Master Sgt "Robbie" Robinson, Tech Sgt Jim Santaferrara, Master Sgt Les Heal, and ALL the guys and their wonderful families in the 416th AMMS at Griffiss AFB, Rome NY, from 1965 to 1967.
Some of the most enchantingly beautiful music ever composed can be found in Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel. I have always championed it as a great masterpiece. The prayer here couldn't be more beautifully sung, and the dream sequence that follows it, glorious. I get choked up every time.
Always loved Jean Butler!
Why oh why did the MET abandon the glorious production that preceded this monstrosity? !
looks like the Fish-Footman from Alice in Wonderland.
magnificent perfection
I cannot fathom a better version of this opera. Christine Schaffer is sublimely adorable as Gretel and the brother role fits perfectly. The staging is the nec plus ultra in my humble opinion.
This is wonderful! Who is the conductor? Odd that he is not listed here!
The conductor of the overture section is Robin Ticcati. I don't know the orchestra. The conductor for the opera sections is Vladimir Jurowski with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Disgusting ptoduction.
My dad also a master Sgt use to sing this to us 🇺🇸 so many years ago , can't thank you enough for making this available
I've been trying to see this for years I pray it will come back to the MET! Detroit Mamma
God, I hate this production. All the sweetness of childhood has been replaced with cynical deconstruction. Phooey.
No pressure Claire....
Thank you for sharing! It's absolutely wonderful!
I had the great fortune, the blessing to attend this show. What an amazing treat for the soul. We humans sure know how to be creative.
I think the both of them is the best of the best of River Dance and more. I really like Jean Butler. I want to have her DVD/Blu-ray if there are. I have one. However, I want to have more.
Beautiful rendition of this opera. I could not get this theme out of my head for days. In a great way.
By accident, almost, I attended the opening performance, from the front row, winter 2007. Utterly bewitching beautiful and unforgotten
The most creepy sandman scene I ever saw. Great moment!!!
amazjng
Belisimo!!!
Classy, vibrant.
Brilliant. A delight to watch.
His initials aren't MF for nothing ;) One bad was MF for sure.
These two are just magic together!!!
Can someone point me/us in the direction of the documentary that was made about the making of Riverdance? In it, one was made acutely aware of the intense emotional as well as the physical demands made of the dancers.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC I GET GOOSE FLESH OUT OF THIS WORLD XXXX
maybe he will rember the leyelanker left foot right let's see xxx
I love this its me deff me I would love to dance like that wish I did he will have to teach me know one else hahajab
WARNING! Malfunction on the shoes at 1:15 to 2:02.
hermosa sincronia y talento estraordinario muy bonita danza
Fantástico.
The precision is really remarkable. Great talent. But leave it up to the Irish (my people!) to invent a dance where the dancers can't touch each other!
Perfection!!!! sooooo enjoyable!!!! Bravo!!!!!
Truly magical I find this so uplifting.
Some people are just jelouse because Michael had a vision and executed. it. He worked very hard for his dreams and so did the dancers He deserves alot of credit. No need to call him arrogant . No crap show on TV can compare to this. Let's be thankful for the joy that he has given so many.
I'm not sure who you are responding to, Connie. I certainly am not resentful of Michael and his efforts. I am only grateful.
what ever happened to jean butler?she was gorgeous.flatley would not have made such an impression were it not for the beautiful miss butler.i hope she did well .she had a lot of talent and was beautiful to boot!
@@tomryan4360 She's married of course. She spent her post-Riverdance career exploring more intimate forms and expressions of Irish dance, as well as teaching in Ireland and at New York University. I believe she still teaches.
Unsurpassable beauty!
Beautiful dance.(I'm french)
Fascinating footwork! But I could not watch this for long, it is too boring for me, due to the lack of torso movements ...
I completely understand your discomfort. But I'm pleased that you took a look at it, and hopefully can appreciate it for all that it was and all that it represented.
YES I do- thanks for your kind answer!

# 1.Dance. NOT A HOLLYWOOD RAP GARBAGE>
The complete performance of this fairy-tale opera is available from iTunes. For a few dollars you can rent it or buy it for viewing on an iDevice. On my iPhone, it can be obtained in an app called 'TV', which came with the phone. If you watch the entire performance, you can then judge for yourself its merits. All varieties of Hansel and Gretel, from the original story to the modern motion pictures, fall within the broad spectrum of art. Different aspects will appeal to different people. This is as it should be. If you like it, then enjoy it. If you don't, then feel free to ignore it. The choice is yours.
Richard jones, et al make a travesty of this divine fairy tale---its such a mish mash--
When you write the wrong comment.
I agree.
What a beautiful woman Jean is.
Marvin Lewis Truly- beautiful ☘ 🇮🇪🇺🇸🇮🇪
The Irish are the best looking people on earth!!
joan smith Well - Thank you - kind words. But we can truly get our rears in a fix and behave horribly - no Guinness required, lol ☘ ☘🇮🇪🇺🇸☘
She was the irish American gal from NYC and Micheal was from Chicago.
I'm part Irish myself so it made me proud to see two young Irish American dancers bring irish dancing to a new level.
I cannot get enough of watching this ! Love the music and such talent! 😊
Ангелина Волжина What does that mean?
nelu sa Thank you!
The staging is so dreamy and imaginative. I watch this clip very often.
The cooks in the dream sequence look like the oompa loompa's!!
