After a cold and very , very wet Friday. On Saturday things were looking up : sunny and dry.... Speeds slowly went up and ah , I guess the vibrations too... Anyway, Nick's bike didn't like the way it was going and started undressing... ;-)

Honda VTR SP1 / RC51 Crash at Assen TT Circuit

H@nsie drops his Honda VTR SP-1 at the Assen TT circuit upon entering the Ruskenhoek corner. It looks to me like he lost the front (hence the black line). But he isn't a hundred percent sure about what caused it. It's been a long while, but back in Assen with the Millle. My first and last time there was 3 years ago and I could only put in 2 dry sessions. Today , it wasn't much better (2,5 sessions). Still , it is a beautiful track and riding there myself makes me respect the fast guys with sub 1:50 times. As a mere amateur, I prefer the slower, more technical tracks. The reason ? Filming H@nsie on his VTR-SP1. Since he took out the secondary gears from the engine , the thing sounds like a friggin' piller drill .... In a straight line , tt still doesn't beat a bog standard 2001 Mille though. ;-)

One of the few low-traffic laps I could put in. 4th lap of the day (that says it all I guess) and I wasn't even trying. Sometimes racing bikes is funny ; I couldn't go any faster in the other 4 sessions even though I was pushing a lot harder. Ah well, no crashes and we all had a lot of fun. Bike is a bog standard 2001-R.

March 2009 - Carlos Trainingslager Testing our new camera (GoPro Hero Wide Angle). Just posing , so do not expect fast laptimes (not that we can ride them anyway).. M@thijs is on his 2000 Mille R (camera bike). I'm on the red/white MIlle R (2001) with nr. 63. I was riding without a fairing since I was trying to repair my clutch (damn those clutch problems!)....

Thanks ! Just 48? Never too old to start! Basically, the barnett is tougher and "bites" (grips) harder. It does take a bit more power from the left hand though, so on the street , dunno. might want to consider a larger diameter clutch slave cylinder then.... Nope, I'm not the fuzz from rsv-zone .....

Cool vid, no worries on the missed apex's and being a gear too high. You got the brawny torque of a v twin. I have 07 mille r as well. : )

lol this is exactly what happened to me 2 weeks ago.the whole right fairing desentrigrate when i was riding my bike becoz the bolt and the bottom was loose.and the air pressure just ripped the whole fairing apart. :(

NEE. Dat doen we dus niet. Ik geloof dat ik 'm liever in autootjes laat skeuren dan geskeurd terugkomen met een brommer.... Dank voor deze omgekeerde indoctrinatie :-)
Had both bikes, a few times, wouldnt say the rsvr is faster, sp1 has a better top end rush where the rsv has nothing, but the rsv has more lower down the revs. Both great bikes but the sp1 is better, easier to ride very fast and wont keep going wrong like the rsv.
you caught them, and we all saw that so thumbs up to you bro. hope you didn't do to much damage.
@Grodinz Well.. Depends , I think Milles crash pretty well anyhow. Dropped mine once , Mathijs dropped his twice (once with the bike flipping over it's long axis and coming to rest against the armco) without serious damage... The bungs , I suppose they help to keep stuff off the ground , but I reckon that in a serious crash your engine mounts / frame will still get damaged.
Its obviously a highside, learn your stuff before you make stupid comments.

Hmmm...you're in a right hand turn and fall over on the right side. A rough lowside? Yes. A highside? nope. I had pretty much the same thing happen and yeah..I went flying too.

yeah, the ani hop will prevent the rear-wheel from locking up , but the slide-grip-slide-grip hop dance stays.... Kinda' fun though.... Make sure the your little PPC valve is in working order, otherwise the antihop doesn't work at all. ;)
Yea, I own a rsv, but you blip the throttle(quite good) and the slipper doesnt work if you add gas, only works with closed throtle. Im always strugeling with downshifting, tried blipping but still get the ocasional rear wheel dancing :), you kinda make it work like it should.
Thank.. Nope , no slipper clutch .. Well , just the standard Anti-hop system Aprilia has on its bikes. Why ?

Ooooh noooo!! Gutted for ya dude. Looks like the front tucked or it could even have been the peg or exhaust decking out. He certainly had it tipped in! Good lad, ride it like ya stole it!!! :-)

I think it looks like he went off the throttle and on again midcorner, did the same thing myself on my last trackday. The RS250 did not like it either! Lol
