can someone please honestly make a video about the risk of breaking the liquid diet pre surgery
If you could eat all that crap.... you'd never be overweight to begin with.
Always read labels to avoid unhealthy ingredients like seed oils and sugars
The proper human diet is high fat, moderate protein, low carb and NO sugar
So they basically eat more and bigger portions over time and still lose weight?
Can you use this if your haven't had surgery
Very helpful video,am 3weeks post op .I had vsg
So that last stage is 4oz of protein and 4oz of either a produce/starch, totaling 8oz per meal? I'm post-op gastric bypass and just needed clarification. Very helpful video!
I cancelled a day before my surgery . I need to lose weight in other ways
Wow what a great video!👍😊
Thank you.
Interesting. Not a surgery patient, but definitely way too heavy and trying to focus on portion size. I really can't eat a lot at one time any more, and hate the feeling of being stuffed. I was happy to see all the foods the doc showed as possible meals are exactly what I eat. The visuals showing portions and meal combinations help!
thanks doctor. this is a big help.
Thank you for a nuanced explanation and for nutrition advice. Eating well is essential. This is the video more people need to watch. Fully understanding this is the foundation of good health knowledge. However, the “calories in” approach is simple and allows for easy judgement and solutions.
HI DAD I LOVE YOU
I'm so happy i found this video I'm 4 years post op of the bypass and over the last year i gained 35 pounds and I'm not proud of it , but I'm definitely learning from this video and I'm gonna get back on the track thank you
I'm in the pre-surgery 6 month period of meeting a nutritionist and I'm deeply grateful for all of these videos, this is immensely helpful for me so I have a good idea of how best to prepare
Does it mean if i don't have the surgery but eat portions this size i will lose?
I had the R&Y in 2006 and first 5 weeks all I could eat stomach was water. And jello
Get your doctor to prescribe a medicine for that
03/20/24 = This demonstration video CHANGED MY LIFE, thank you sooooooooooo much for making this video to help us SEE what a portion size should be and the VARIETY of foods. OUTSTANDING video!!! I can't thankyou enough for real.
I’ve watched several videos on this and had appointments with dietitians and they never gave the reason that water has to be separated to keep food in the stomach and keep it filled longer
Hello, I am 23 years post DDS :) yep/ I kept it off! I am 270 lbs down, now 160 lbs: 5’6”, (plus minus about a 5 pound seasonal waffle) I paid attention … I want to offer kindly some criticism here : I have never adjusted any light mayonnaise or any diet type product post surgically. I very much limit my sugars I live eating the rainbow in a farm to table ethos. I would not consume more than a few of the items the stock recommends. I only offered this because I won’t be able to really really think and really really open your eyes when you have this procedure because it will kill you if you don’t . I did have a complication which I struggle with which is severe iron deficiency, and I have to get regular infusions. I am in my late 50s now . When I chose to have this surgery 2324 years ago now… I knew at my weight according to Mayo Clinic studies and other empirical sources(I have a bio Pharma science degree, and subsequent career, now retired) I had about a 15% chance of not having had a heart attack or diabetes or have become wheelchair dependent by grinding down my own joints with my weight. That pretty much made the decision for me to do this operation . I have had not an easy great ride, but what I have had as an easier great life that I would not have had had I not made that choice. I guess I’m trying to be really emphatic : with all due respect to the good work, this man does as a doctor, I do not agree with this diet, you should look to Atkins keto gluten-free type organic non-GMO foods… and hell yeah I eat fats and luscious desserts whenever I want. Whenever I want, I have paid attention to my diet enough that it controls my wants and cravings. I just don’t have them other than for artichoke hearts and Evian water( bougie!) and as soon as I realized, I was having those cravings which are actual cravings. I will stop my car get off the freeway for either of those type two items… where is before surgery would never drink Non or any diva waters… Our hearts are always a good thing, but not where I guarded my jars for myself. I don’t mind that . I am proud that I am not smoking cigarettes eating over, processed over oil oversalted over sugared over drug ged (hormones, antibiotics n red meatsdairy) foods.. I am sharing all of this to those who are researching and I’m welcoming you to the frank talks we need to be willing to have, and on my part extend my experiences to learn from. Myadvice is keep talking: FOLLOW YOUR SURGEONS **EXACT** POST OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR AT LEAST THREE MONTHS BEFORE YOU VEER THE NTO YOUR OWN!{ he is protecting your procedure like he would a newborn baby } My second piece of advice is keeping community go regularly for the first 10 years do not stop even if you think you’ve got it you don’t have a reason to go to group keep going because believe me you’re either going to offer something to somebody else or you will learn something You didn’t know you needed to know or the best yet you will maintain and incorporate your new lifestyle whether it’s in tight or just in wherever you happen to be…it works..stay in post op was groups! And whatever you do, do not let Non surgery people tell you what to eat! Of course they mean well! But they know not the damage they can do … follow protocol! Love yourself and don’t continue to engage a negative self talk that is the hardest part of losing this much weight…. Hand to God./ That is harder than losing weight is developing a way to handle your negative self talk and being kind and reasonable with yourself because God knows we are conditioned and subscribing in a subordinating way to the hatred that there is for fat people and we don’t even know it as you feel the layers through your process of weight loss your perspective will swing so far from what it was! I struggled to graduate high school. I don’t actually know what my mother did to get me out there, but I certainly didn’t do it on my GPA. About midway through my weight loss journey , spare the details, I received a scholarship to a first year law school. On my first exam, I saw a red inked “A-“ , my self-esteem was so low I did not believe the professor had written the correct grade on my exam that had to be a mistake in penmanship or a.m. or something…. It was not . I was astounded. Not believe I got an A- in law school.. You can do anything if you can succeed in this WLS, It will take you 2 to 5 years to find yourself. It doesn’t change as soon as you’ve lost 100 pound. Your brain still has to struggle through the making of what will be stepping into the new you you. ……::::Shania Twain exit rhythms::::… Oxox Think think think..pick the procedure that fits your life!
Wow that was so real!! Thank you for that perspective! I’m 1 week out scheduled 10/21 and have been looking for more real and raw information, not the fluffy air cushioned stuff of how beautiful they look!
Is it metal ?
Super cool technology in these roms! Would love to see it in person without being a patient
Weird…I was told no veggies for months after my surgery. And I missed it. My office mainly focuses on protein. May try to add some in now to help with calories
i had a VSG sleeve surgery done 5 years ago now and I have not felt hunger one time since the day of my surgery. It is awesome. . i went from 640 lbs to 200 lbs had 5 skin removal surgeries which was 60 lbs of that lost weight too.
Congradulations!!!!
Amazing! Congratulations!
Your amazing🎉 Good job
Inspired
6 days post op i got covid for 2 weeks from my surgery roommate... then double ear infection so i dropped almost 24lbs in 3 weeks. Now im stalling on week 7.. i have texture issues, no taste or smell since covid. Vertigo kept me in bed still. A ton antibiotics iv, mouth, injections... i drink 2 shakes a day to try get protein. But i am lactose intolerant and seafood intolerant. Any advice how to get scale moving? Also cant stand alot of fruit and veggies especially texture wise..
It’s very important not to stay low fat though.. you do lower fat in the beginning to avoid the dumping syndrome , but after that eating healthy fats is crucial like grassfed butter and evoo, ghee etc..
I need to loose 45 pounds currently 188 pounds I have fatty liver disease can I get vsg surgery😢
If I eat like this, I wouldn’t need WLS.
I love how much I learn in your videos. You are so much better at explaining than others.\
You have done the best breakdown of foods that I have seen after watching many videos. Also, you are more generous with foods available that you can have.
What yogurt is that ?
Thank you for the video. I am post op 10 days and really struggling with the recovery. I came to the Internet for motivation.
You got this! I’m 1 week post op and it’s been absolutely tough. We can do this! ❤
Hey how are you feeling/ doing now?
I guess that why I gained 😢my weight back, starving 🙃, I don't see no food my grandkids eat more than that
The most important piece of advice ..... DON'T GRAZE!
Fourteen years after my op, I had to have a camera put down my stomach for something unrelated. My consultant informed me that my stomach looked like I was only 6 months out from surgery but I have seriously watched my portions and foods. Breakfast for me is usually cottage cheese or 1 scrambled egg and a portion of fruit, lunch 2ozs ham or turkey with 2/3rds cup of chopped salad veggies like bell pepper, tomato, beets .... And dinner is often the same as lunch. If I do eat out or takeaway, then I have two tablespoons of the protein main (say chicken curry or chilli) and a level tablespoon of rice .... Nothing else. I avoid pizza, pasta, French fries, chips .... All waste my calories.
THANKS!! I’ve been beating myself up because I wasn’t able to move down the scale for a bit more than three months now but because of this explanation I just came to realize that it’s because I’m exactly on the weight I was supposed to reach. That alone just lifted a lot of weight off of my shoulders. I guess now comes the “work harder” part you mentioned in the video. Thanks again.
3 1/2 years out. Still struggling to drink. 2 small drinks is ok. Anything after that my stomach hurts. Can not get anywheres near enough fluids. Help!
Great video - would maybe get a better microphone setup for future videos as it is difficult to hear you
where the chicken at?
I am praying that all of you find your path and do what is nutritionally best for you! At my heaviest, I weighed 310 lbs. In 2019, I weighed 275 lbs. I made major nutritional changes and lost 140 lbs naturally in less than 2 years😭🥰! I am so happy and grateful to be in the space of helping! I am a Health Coach ready to help and inspire🦋!
Thank you so much for the video!!!
Thank you for this. Please be aware the video was a little quiet so maybe just check on sound levels for future videos as it's such important information.
Thank you. I am 1 week and 4 days post op. I needed this. I am struggling.
Can someone who has not had surgery eat like this for Weight loss ?
Thank you very much educational .!
Thank you I’m so excited to get back to my oldself
Bro, my normal food intake is equal to the plate you showed with bell pepper. And more importantly, that food is only vegetable rice or any other vegetables with a tin of salmon 🍣 (I can only take salmon because my toes hurt due to diabetic neuropathy). But, still I am 45 kg overweight and my body is maintaining same weight since last 3 months. Now I am preparing for gastric sleeve. How is that ??
I just posted another video talking about "calories in = calories out?" that explains a little about why someone with a lower calorie intake might not see weight loss. Take a look!
This is great! I appreciate the explanation in layman's terms you provided. Thank you!
Thank you
