The reason for all the extra characters and zero plot development is it was originally supposed to be a TV show. So they cut a lot so they could have a November movie release. Disney had a chance to actually make money and restore some of their reputation. Instead they rushed this out and added another failure to their arsenal.

Girl I’ll scream about it for hours how Disney isn’t for kids, but for FAMILIES. I’ll fight about it frfr.

Well you’ve added back some of the excitement I had lost to see this movie. I don’t care for Ariana Grande (I’m old enough to remember years of awful behavior). But I was excited to see Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba! Until her narcissism reared it’s ugly head and she attacked Wicked’s biggest fans. But maaaaybe we’ll see it.

I loved the additions they made, but I don't think there was anything they drew especially from Maguire's book like I was hoping. Like yourself I'm still decompressing, and I need to take notes on Monday when I see it for a second time with my mother 😊 I've got a few Wicked related vids on my channel. I'll be doing one next week on all the things that were added from the show. Goooosh it was good wasn't it :) and it's funny you mentioned Rue McLanahan - I saw her on Broadway as Madame Morrible in 2005!

In the original 1980's film, (SPOILER ALERT!!!!) their Mom comes to the pageant. You "meet" her at the end. It's so so so sweet and amazing. 🥰

I've just been to see it and to tell the truth I was a bit confused who this film is aimed at it's not a bad film it's just of a bit mix and match of genres there's action, spy, horror, comedy, fantasy and it's a Christmas movie but not a brilliant one like you said it's just o.k.

I was so pumped about this movie until I heard that Lucius was suddenly the son of Maximus. I know that people have had their theories about this, but I’ve seen gladiator dozens of times, the last pretty recently, and to me it’s never even implied that this is the case. It feels like this was thrown in for dramatic effect because the story itself lacks substance and turned me off to it altogether.

If this was airing on a network around Christmas time, I can’t think of much that would need to be cut, even the beach scenes. If it is PG13, it is the mildest of PG13.

Hello, dear! love your videos. I kinda steered clear of anything about this movie as we and our faith are often not well represented in film and tv. But knowing your history of fair and critical reviews, I decided I could at least watch your take on it. Clarifications for your general fund of knowledge, some you may already know but helpful if you were curious for added context. Sister Missionaries serve 18 months while Elders (brother missionaries) serve 24 months (usually). "Mormon" in reference to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is an outdated label. We believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God like the Bible and is another testament of Jesus Christ. The main compiler of the records that make of the Book of Mormon is an ancient prophet named Mormon. So we often get called that but it's not an accurate term. I served a mission myself and while rules are important, we are taught to use the Holy Spirit as our guide. But it's true that many members will get hung up on rules that interfere with the situation. However, it's on the table for some missionaries to be a bit naïve about the world. Normally sisters serve in their early twenties (as early as 19 as of about 10 years ago) but I was 31 when I served. I had several companions as we call them (the sister we serve with) who were a bit more naïve to things. Having a companionship where the two are different is pretty common. As far as you've described I did meet people like Hugh Grant's character several times. So far as having read the Book of Mormon and really dug into it. I am now curious to understand the film more and the people behind it and their motives. I don't think I'll watch it but knowing a bit more can be helpful.

I saw it last night and I totally agree with you it does feel like there's something missing but it's still a very good film and Hugh Grant is brilliant he just gets better in every film I see him in recently and I agree that his politeness and the way he plays the character makes you feel so uncomfortable, I also liked the way that you think the film is going one way and then it goes another way, well worth a watch👍

I just saw it, and I definitely agree this was in my top 3 movies I watched this year. I am definitely going to buy this when it's on streaming because it's such a touching, heart wrenching, and beautiful story. I cried like a baby at the end 💙
