Yes, it’s a 2 octave Bb scale, that’s why he played. If he were to play 1 octave then we would play 1 octave. He might have the range for 3-4 considering pedal range but he only played 2 because I’m pretty sure like the title says with All State, they might only have to play 2 so he was demonstrating what student’s auditioning would have to do.

@ if that’s the case I could easily make it to all state in all low brass, but that’s insane. Here in Texas it’s kinda not that big of a deal if you even play both octaves but it is with concert C 2 octaves

@@stolasch43681. You’re from Texas you’re best of the best already. 2. I could also make it in with that but it’s expected to be able to play scales, a solo, and sightread an easier excerpt. I live in NC and haven’t gone to All State but I am trying this year as a junior but I have to make All District first to even audition for All State. That happens in January and my current range on a Small shank Marching Baritone is Pedal F to Super F (it doesn’t sound the best) or Super D ( it actually sounds pretty good and consistently so but I can hit Super E somewhat consistent but I’m saying Super D as is more consistent and sounds better) On a Large shank concert Euphonium I’ve hit Pedal D easily and a little shaky with the Pedal Db and upper register is a clear consistent high Bb and highest is Super D. It was also 2 weeks ago since then and I have improved. My hardest struggle rn is the transition from anything higher than a high G to Bb as for some reason I can play the high Ab open but if I work on it I can probably fix it in 2-3 weeks or less. If you have any tips I’ll be happy to take them and apply them

@@Name-..- 1. “You’re from Texas” is not a really good arguement since there’s insane players out there who aren’t in Texas. It’s up to the individual to practice the instrument. 2. I play every low brass (mainly trombone) idk how to help others with high range other than just getting better, but what I do in general to get better is by listening to professionals and taking any advice they gave regardless if I heard them before
