“Stop talking over the music”
Music got quiet and some fans had had enough of the relentless chatter during the Heart concert!

Chicago “Dialogue” 6/27/23
มุมมอง 837ปีที่แล้ว
“We can make it happen!” Chicago playing at MGM near Washington, DC. This is the classic Robert Lamm composition, “Dialogue” from 1972’s Chicago V. Originally sung by Peter Cetera and Terry Kath, this performance showcases the songwriter, Robert Lamm, and vocalist Neil Donnel engaged in a timeless “dialogue” from the 1970s.

Chicago had a new lead singer and bass player on September 1, 2016. Jeff Coffey was playing in place of Jason Scheff. He was a welcome addition to the band. This was the first time he played in the mid-Atlantic area with Chicago. He left at the beginning of 2018 after performing with the band through 2017 including the recording of Chicago II and Greatest Hits for PBS’ Soundstage in Chicago in ...

Chicago playing the end of “Hard to Say I’m Sorry” and the start of “Getaway” at their 4/21/23 concert in Baltimore. (I love taping the shows but also feel like I need to put the phone down and just enjoy the music. That’s why I stopped recording when I did.)

Chicago concert April 21, 2023 - Baltimore, MD This song from 1972’s Chicago V wasn’t the quite huge hit (Billboard #24) that “Saturday in the Park” (#3) was, but it is beloved by Chicago fans. It’s been 46 years since the original singers (Kath/Cetera) performed this song, but the composer, Robert Lamm, is now singing this alongside Neil Donnel in an innovative back and forth discusion , i.e.,...

Horrible version of Make Me Smile.
Maybe you don’t appreciate Bill Champlin’s vocals? He did tend to embellish it a bit. I just re-watched it (I’m the OP) and I don’t think he was that over the top. And the band sounded great.
@ the band was good. Didn’t enjoy the vocals.
You weren’t alone in being annoyed by Bill’s vocal tendencies. His band mates sometimes said the same thing and he was out of the band a year after this video was made. This iteration of Chicago. 1995-2009, was the longest lasting group of musicians in the band’s history. The same eight members for 14 years.
@@johnbramsey and I’m one for believing in people making things their own as opposed to attempting to replicate someone (especially someone outstanding). I just don’t care for his interpretation.
❤thank you for posting
Saw Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire twelve days ago and Robert was not able to appear. Even if he had, he wouldn’t have had the guitar but just stands and sings.
Extrañamos a Keith
Can’t wait to see them this summer!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Still love re-playing this concert experience from almost one year ago!
Damn, those watered down Seraphine charts suck.
I don’t know what that means but keep in mind that this was footage taken from the audience with a phone. No way this captures the full sound. Hopefully it captured the spirit, though! Won’t get many more chances to see Chicago and Robert Lamm singing this song.
@@johnbramsey I meant it’s kind of depressing to hear the original Seraphine percussion charts dumbed down. Sound quality overall is very good.
Walfredo has many of his live drum performances posted on Facebook. facebook.com/wreyesjr.1
@@scottyaniga4450Early Danny, both live and on record, was amazing! My favorite drum part that he ever did was in “To Be Free,” from the Make Me Smile medley.
@@johnbramsey Yes, an excellent example of Danny’s talent!
50,000 views! Nice!
One of the great love songs, simple and heartfelt. God bless Bobby Lamm
They almost sound as good as Leonid & Friends !! Ha Ha
A little heavy on the snare
another great performance of this song from 1977- th-cam.com/video/Dc3Oq4MbY-4/w-d-xo.html
Never mentioned Bill Champlin..Look Away was a #1 hit
Blood, Sweat and Tears were better than this band in their sleep.
Their horn section is VERY arrogant and frankly stupid---running Peter Cetera out of the band really was stupid but that's what happens with bands run by committee.
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
This is the New Chicago. Definitely Not as Good.
Anybody with a brain knows that guns don't go off by themselves! Terry Kath was depressed and killed himself. He was a great guitarist, and it was a shame that it happened, but it happened!
It was an accident while he was cleaning the gun. He forgot about the bullet in the chamber.
And he was high and not depressed
La banda original es con Peter Cetera
Especially now since they have no REAL drummer
Original members??? Where is Cetera and Seraphine???🤨🤔🙄
Amazing as usual !
They were great last night at Humphreys in San Diego! Keep in rockin’!
Chicago was so awesome in the 70s and they sucked so bad in the 80s what the h*** happened to them what made them turn from a awesome rock band to a loveduvy air supply group.
Yeah sadly that happened
Hope The band gets to read this- been playing and teaching musical instruments for 56 years this year- you’re hands down, my favorite musical group- you just keep getting better- even walked down the isle with my wife of 37 years to your music! Rock on Chicago! Jeff Roseville CA
How sad is not to see Peter Cetera in this presentation. 😞
That's Peters' Choice!!
Chicago as a band is pretty much on life support these days, but Lamm at least still has it.
we hebben eindelijk een chicagopresentator! welkom aan deze fantastische aankondiger!! zeer aimable!
the best band forever
I met two of the members in Moline IL that March. Happiest moment of my life, especially as a musician myself. You should've seen me...............😊
To my Chic@go is one of my favorite bands since Chic@go Transit Authority 🎉❤🎉❤🎉
keith te extraño 😔
They need Danny Seraphine back on the drums.
Danny was a special drummer, no doubt about it. Personally, my favorite Danny drum part is from the 1970 Chicago II song “To Be Free,” from the Make Me Smile medley AKA “Ballet for a Girl in Buchanon.”
NOT
How much i love this wonderful song
I’m a massive Chicago fan, but this is absolutely horrible! I guess when you try to find a replacement for Peter Cetera it’s absolutely impossible!
Some things are best left in the past as they were. Untarnished and original. This is terrible.
I saw Chicago in April 1985 when they were on top of the world again. Metallica in 1992 when their Black Album propelled them into the stratosphere. And Heart in 1977/78 when Barracuda ruled. Yes, these aging acts aren’t the same as the ones that hit the top ten. They still bring thousands of fans such joy as evidenced by the crowd in Baltimore this night.
They FIRED Danny Seraphine because he didn't like playing with a click track. Only reason he ever needed to use one was for all the sappy, layered ballads that David Foster made them do. Cetera and Foster KILLED Chicago. Firing Danny Seraphine? Who could ever fire him for ANY reason? Dude is phenomenal.
Chicago is basically a tribute band now. The over-all vocals are really bad.
Totally agree. As with many of the great 70's bands. Lacking lead vocalist, all these bands are nothing but tribute bands. Cannot fool me.
Chicago died when Terry Kath died.
@@drummersagainstitk ... I basically agree. They held it together for a while with Peter... but it wasn't the same band at all.
Cant really hear Robert over the music.😮😮😮😮
Drummer DANNY SERAPHINE
Where the hell is the band? There is only one horn
4:38 here? And all over this song! Horns. Trombone, trumpet, saxophone.
You sure you’re commenting on the right song?
Maybe time to retire the name.
The singerless band... using backing tracks.
Very odd comment for a band that uses five men on lead vocals in their concerts this year. Neil, Robert, Lee, Loren, and Eric. And you wrote it in reply to the 2016 CBS segment where very little recent concert footage is shown. The horns are live, the vocals are live, the guitar is live, the drums and percussion are live. Is the sound sweetened? I guess. It’s not the raw sound of 1971, that’s true. Technology is much advanced since then. When you’re there, you know it’s live because you hear the flaws that inevitably happen. Come out to a show! Tickets are much cheaper than Taylor Swift or The Eagles.
@@johnbramsey ... yeah... I've been to a few in the last couple of years. They played a new single and things didn't work out quite right. There were two bands playing at once... but on different parts of the song. Robert is a great singer... but the rest make it a fancy tribute band. They play along with a backing track. Parts of it are live.
💜
Danny was a truly awesome drummer above many of the rest and there were some great ones ....but he was unique among them all a real player ❤
These guys should seriously hang it up - this rendition absolutely sucked. There’s no way I would pay to watch this shell of what Chicago was. Pathetic to listen to, seriously
Generally, great music ended in 1971.
James Pankow Rocks! After all these years still enthusiastic! I met him backstage a few years ago, what a great guy!
I feel sorry for all the people who never got to see this band in their prime. With all the original band members. I think they need to walk away before they become an embarrassing joke. I have seen them live 10 times. And I am here to tell you it is offically over. Thanks for the good memories boys.
As long as they are having fun and still enjoy playing and their fans are coming out to see them and filling the arenas who are you to say they need to end their careers? They're still entertaining. They still sound good. Walter would still be playing but he has heart issues and early Altzheimers. They fired Danny years ago. They put Pete between a rock and a hard place giving him an ultimatum to not do a solo album or else leave the band. Terry we lost to an unfortunate accident with him not accounting for the cartridge in the chamber. Yes it'd be great to have all seven together but Robert and Jimmy and Lee are still doing great. Robert turns 79 in October. Jimmy just turned 76 in August. Lee turns 77 in October. Pretty amazing those three guys are pushing 80 years old and still have the health and vitality to perform all these shows each year. You should be giving them credit instead of making fun of them. They're certainly not doing it because they need the money. They love what they do.
@@carlalattanzi6873 Its over just like Daryl Hall.Just remember the great times and amazing voices they had.
@@Giminey I saw Chicago three times. Twice at the old Boston Garden in 1973 and 1974 and once at the old Patriot's football stadium called Schaefer Stadium in 1975 with a big concert with other bands. Chicago was second to last to perform and The Beach Boys came on last. Fleetwood Mac played earlier than Chicago. Jimmy Pankow and Lee Loughnane still play great. Bobby Lamm playing guitar while singing Beginnings is different to see and it's nice seeing him standing on stage. I don't know if I looked for recent videos where he's not the lead singer if he'd be back on keyboards or still standing on stage. Maybe fans want to see him on stage as there's only 3 originals left. Too bad Danny and Pete weren't still in the band. Walt would be if he didn't have health issues. I loved Daryl Hall's voice. Does he sound awful now?
@@carlalattanzi6873 glad you got to see Chicago in their prime. Yes Daryl even admitted he has voice problems. He changed the songs and lowered the key. He has to sing in bursts and not long and flowing like he used to. And more audience participation. To drown out his vocal problems.
@@Giminey After you mentioned Daryl I found a live video of him in Texas it was really recent. I want to say August 2023. He was on a piano. He sang "Every time you go away" the song Paul Young made famous but Daryl wrote it. I was really surprised to hear how his voice sounded when he tried to hit high notes. His voice cracked. It was shocking. I watched an interview of him with Dan Rather from 2014. He was 67 or 68 at the time depending if he'd had his birthday in October yet. He looked great. He didn't sing. He talked about getting Lyme disease in 2006 the same year he started Daryl's House. So Daryl turns 77 next month. What happened to his voice? Rather asked him if he used drugs back in those days and he said neither him or John were drug users. He said drugs didn't agree with him. He said I'm not going to say I never tried drugs. Rather said whiskey? Daryl said I drank a little. So those weren't problems for him and John. He said that's why John and I are still here, still coherent. Robert Lamm hasn't lost his voice in the way Daryl has and he's born 10/13/44. Daryl is born 10/11/46. Both artistic, talented Libras that sing, wrote music, play piano/keyboards and play guitar. So what could have damaged Daryl's voice?
