They are classified into direct-acting (receptor agonists) and indirect-acting (acetylcholinesterase inhibitors) agonists. Direct-acting agonists, such as choline esters and alkaloids, mimic the action of acetylcholine, with some being selective for muscarinic receptors, while some can act on both muscarinic and nictonic receptors. The indiret acting can either be reversible or irreversible, which depends on the binding of the drug to the enzyme.

Atropine has a faster onset of action but a shorter peak and duration, making it preferable in emergencies, except for horses and rabbits. Both drugs can be administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously, with intravenous use being appropriate for emergency bradycardia or cardiac arrest. I've learned that sympatholytic drugs are responsible for shutting down the “fight or flight” response which emans that most of the effects are parasympathetic. It reversibly affects the epinephrine resulting to hypotension that decreases the cardiac output. There are also beta-blocker that are used for the treatment of abnormal heart rhythm which is the Propanolol.

GOC-ONG, Neil Andre G. 3DVM - B Upon watching the video. I learned that adrenergic drug can produce two pharmacological effects on the heart. The two pharmacological effect I was talking about are positive chronotropic which stimulates the heart rate and also the positive ionotropic that stimulates the force of cardiac contraction.

Because they produce fewer tears, they also cause corneal dryness. 1:24 Dogs are more susceptible to atropine poisoning, however physostigmine can help. Although it costs more, glycopyrrolate is a more cost-effective and safe substitute for atropine in pregnant animals.

Buca, Modesstty Eimmhanrie B. 3/ DVM/ B I have learned that Atropine can block muscarinic receptors but cannot block the nicotinic receptors. Most of the muscarinic receptors are M3 except the heart and CNS. Smooth muscle, exocrine glands, and eye are examples of M3.
