SectionTools for Rhino 8
Create dynamic sections and projections of Rhino 3D models.
The video is a quick overview of some of the functionality of SectionTools:
- Create and view Sections in 3D space.
- Use objects and layer attributes to set hatch and material properties.
- Move Sections.
- Align the view to section planes.
- Extract 2D projections of sections and background
- Update with model changes
- Extract elevations and site plan
- Create array of sections
- Extract section geometry and slices
- Create nested layouts of sections

Hi, thank you for the video. Is it possible to do fixed size panels for curved surface?
It depends. If you surface is doubly curved, it might not be possible. It is always possible with singly curves surfaces (ones from extruding free form curves). In some limited cased, doubly curves surface such as ones that are part of a torus, can populate with same size panels. I hope this helps
Nice video Rajaa, congrats
Please can I have a full course? thank you
good job
can you do this procedure on grasshopper?
Thank you so much for the effort and Job well done these tools are so useful!
thanks for ur efforts. tbh these tutorials are pretty hard to follow. they're a bit too fast. pausing and rewinding doesn't help much
Thank you for your feedback. This tutorial does assume that you have good knowledge of Grasshopper and algorithmic design knowledge.
There is a bug though that when you go to move the sections and if the model is heavy, then the computer hangs.
Amazing tool for Rhino! The named views created are still 3D. How do we create 2D plan views out of those ?
that`s great! tks Rajaa
Rajaa Issa, I have watched many videos about Grasshopper but your video is different & learned a lot from your few videos. There is something different about your teaching that is very easy for me to understand. I really don't know where to start or how to start Grasshopper. If you help me then it's easy to learn I think.
Your teaching is very beautiful that's like too much.
Thanks for your video.
I mostly use details in layouts looking into model space. Front, top, right, perspective, the usual kind of 4 view layout. I dimension in each detail to the objects (LxWxH) of a cube for example. When using SECTION TOOLS is there anyway NOT to create a bunch of 2d objects and still show a slice through objects like a normal clipping plane. You can set a standard clipping plane to clip layout views (horizontal section through a cube) without creating more 2d objects and without modifying the cube. Can SECTION TOOLS do that? Can a SECTION TOOLS section be used to clip a layout view/detail without creating 2d objects that I have to have a separate layout for?
thank you
Great ! Yours paneling tutorials explained deeper than a lot of other tutorials. Thanks a lot.
Is there any chance for the 2D projection to be included as a parameter or option of the dynamic section tool? According to the architectural visualisation, a section view must include the projected view behind it. Thanks in advance for any info!
Thank you
Thank you. I appreciate your effort.
دكتورة ..شكرا لجهودك ..انتي قدوة النا ..اني افتخر بيج شكرا ..
is there are way to do this in grasshopper just to have variable solutions
PanelingTools extend Grasshopper. You should be able to do this there
Is it possible to set line weight, colors and line types through the new section tool? I've heard it will be in Rhino 8 through a new feature called 'Section Style."
will SectionTools interated in Rhino 8?
Yes, I’ll communicate the details soon
Thanks so much for your huge efforts
That’s grt! Can it do the same with a single section going, say, horizontally through a puzzle of floor tiles?
Hello I Need PT for Rhino7 please.
Great stuff
very impressive feature.
Wowwww, thank you so much!!!
Great tool. Can't get the hpattern command to show up though Some time ago i imported some additional hatch patterns.. they're impossible to delete (i click the delete button and nothing happens) and I can't change the hatch
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the tutorial. I am looking for a setting display like in the tutorial where U and V axis are shown on the surface, without using "dir" or "showdir" command. How can I set Rhino to show the U and V direction on a surface by default?
Wow amazing
Thank you for this video. I'm embarrassed to admit that i'm already stuck at how to model the undulating sheet used in this example! If any kind soul would be so good as to point a beginner in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.
Tom, This would be a great start. Let me know if this is what you are after... www.rhino3d.com/learn
Thank you
this is a great video but please slow it waaaaay down. :D
I'll slow down in future videos. Thanks for the feedback
@@rajaaissa3574 awesome. again, i think it's a super helpful video. thanks!
is this paneling tools a plug in or it comes with rhino7 I can't find it on my rhino7 for MAC !
It ships with Mac as a command-line. Type pt* and you get all the commands auto-complete
you are clicking very fast I can't see what exactly you clicked :S. but I alllllways like your way ...
very nice, but your very fast woow I can't even follow :(
You are amazing person flawless and accurate, the way you do it, it's just outstanding, you are iconic someone like doesn't exist in this world anymore, are you the last one left! .💯 🙌 I am using rhino7 for Mac I don't have the Paneling tools is just for Windows?
Thank you very much
Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed! I appreciate your step by step instructions and understand why you are doing each step.
The exposition and presentation here are flawless and accurate. You are a natural teacher. Outstanding on point video.
Rajaa Issa💯🤍
Hi, this video helped me a lot, do you mind sharing the file ?
Thank you from creating panelling tool.
God bless you , thanks a lot
I was told about it by a colleague. I downloaded it, but never used it. Now, I'm so excited to get familiar with the tool. Truly inspiring 😊
Iraqi women great 👍 I appreciated .. thanks and congratulations 🎉
