After all, Mechamaru said, "As long as you live life happy, my dreams will come true" (well, something along those lines) Mechamaru's death did nothing to Miwa. She didn't accomplish anything. That death was a chance for Miwa to grow as a character

as a long time megumi fan, if megumi ends up with hana i think i'd actually prefer him dead. that being said, i also think the series might end with the merger happening in some way and ends the cycle of cursed energy and jujutsu sorcerers as a whole since it's been such a prevalent theme of the story. i really doubt its ending in a cheesy they become teachers for the next gen type of way.
