Valid points when on a budget. I prefer my rimless over my rimmed tank but i have invested in ato and use ro water for top offs. My floating plants always die in my rimmed aquarium

In my opinion the rimless aquarium are built better and use higher quality glass. I owned both and my favorite is rimless for sure.

Add rodi water for top off and you won't have the problem with too many minerals. Buffers don't evaporate and neither do minerals so you need to add water with 0ppm for top off. Most water from the store is around 25ppm so that's not too bad either. Atleast the 25ppm isn't chlorine or anything too harmful usually.

I get no noise when the relay is connected but when I jump the relay I get fuel pump noise. That’s definitely a bad relay correct?

If you're worried about mineral concentration, you can always top up with demineralized water or distilled water.

I couldn't agree more about all the things you said about having a rimmed aquarium. I don't like my water level line to show. That drives me insand with no rim and acrylic tanks.

I respect the preference for rimless but I agree with you. And strangely enough I just like the trim look of rimed tanks. I also put some thin trim on my corners to match to give it what I think is a cool, framed retro look.

Rimless tanks actually come with leveling mats so they don't sit on the stand itself. They don't come with lids, but you can get lid clips and a cover on your own. It's more expensive, but the appearance makes it more beautiful. Thicker glass is used so the glue joints are really strong, and yet uses higher clarity glass. It makes the whole thing look stunning.

Trimming is fine. Trim everywhere at a 5 until your hair is mostly even then let the stronger hairs grow out. It will look more refined as the weeks pass by.

You are not completely wrong but it’s like comparing Ford and Lincoln. It’s not the same buyer for those tanks. I have 5 rimless and 1 rimmed and each has its uses. Rimless tanks look better. Rimless is not for a lazy keeper. The open top allows for easy maintenance but the risk is that your fish and shrimp will jump. I’d say there are pros and cons to each. If rimmed tanks were executed nicer they would be a better choice. But sadly rimmed tanks are often made with cheap glass and less then stellar seams. Even plastic could look nicer.

I also try to grow a beard, and its pretty patchy. People say a lot to me: wow☹️ a beard? What has your wife to say about it? Maby you should cut it down. I am glad at last that my wife supports me!

I do enjoy how the rims can make the waterline disappear. That way, I see my planted, dark-water tank as if I'm observing the lower parts of the aquatic environment while submerged. I don't expect a lot of fish to hang around the waterline, but (from documentaries) I expect them to be near the substrate 2-3 feet down from the surface. I expect very small fish to hang around in shallow waters. But that's expected as a survival strategy to keep away from larger fish

Yes I live in the Philippines and their tanks here use the top filter which I'm not very fond of so I have a 55 gallon with braces along the whole top where the top filter sits upon.I like the aquaclear filters or the marinelands.I just got a penguin 350 off eBay and it doesn't fit because the braces runs around the whole top and the filter didn't sit all the way down.of course it would have fit on one with out the brace or a rimless tank.so what's you advice on which filter to use or which type of aquarium. Thank you sir.

One month in. Have the jawline mustache connects on one side strong. Very weak connection so far on the other. Random thin hairs filling in the cheeks but they’re too light to see in the sun. Feels bad man. But I’m holding out until Christmas! Let’s hope for a fill in.

I've wondered about evaporation and mineral content for ages, thanks for bringing it up. I've always assumed it to be the case (beneficial for me, my local water has nearly no dissolved solids for plants to survive) and I've certainly observed it in my own tanks but NOBODY ever brings it up.

This is like putting a huge diaper on a baby and only changing it once a month. The filter water is the same as the tank water.

This is a good way to blow your filter head. 10 months is way too long to not do any maintenance.

You’re tanks look nice so I can’t argue with your methods but I think your views on rimless tanks are over-exaggerated. They honesty sound like the views of someone who has never ran rimless tanks (I’m assuming here and you know what they say about that...). However, what kind of tank one runs is a personal preference. Your tanks look healthy and happy and that’s all that matters!🐠
