    Wow what spectacular colours and arrangement. This technique is so beautiful as back prints for cabochons. Just gorgeous!😃 I have seen others now also pouring the paint onto large silicone mat and letting it spread out for bigger workable dry piece. But this is so much better as you and work it for ages and get loads of pieces. Even dipping coasters on top of that paint would work😀

      Thanks so much for your wonderful comment! I'm glad you like the technique. It really is incredible how you can get so many designs from the same space as the dipping creates another lovely design. Yes, I often dip small canvases or coaster into the paint once I've finished doing the jewellery dips. Thank you for watching. 💕 It's been taking me ages to edit, but I'll be putting up another jewellery video soon.

      Oh, and though I am using Australian Floetrol, any pouring medium would work. Just don't add any silicone or oils, as that would prevent the paint from adhering to the glass. Have fun! I'm glad that I have given you some inspiration 💓

    I pour & dip ALL of my jewelry. It just feels more "handmade" to me (not to take anything away from skins). I was curious, did you mix anything with your paints (medium or water or even both)?

    • @artwithalison
      @artwithalison หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Suzanne, My video #182 shows how I mix my paints. th-cam.com/video/DsRC3pciP0g/w-d-xo.html I use Floetrol but any medium should work as well. It is the consistency which is important. Make sure that it is reasonable viscous (thick) and that all the paint colours have the same consistency unless they are metallics, in which case they can be a bit more viscous (thicker).

      Thank you. It is poster putty. Here in n Australia, it's commonly known as Blu Tac. It is usually used to stick posters to the wall, or other pieces of paper. It becomes less sticky over time and needs to be stretched and pulled again to soften it and make it pliable and more sticky again. You can certainly see if it is still ok to use again from the last time. It probably depends on how long it's been.

      Thanks very much for your help. Always surprised at how many cabochon s you can get out of one small pour. Notice your only use Floetrol for your pouring medium. Do you use any micas in your pours? Some people use Josonja and maybe jel to dissolve the micas before adding the pouring medium. I have a few micas which might give me the chance to put a bit of a zing in some of my pouring pallet. Any suggestions would be mont welcome. Regards Ziggy

    • @artwithalison
      @artwithalison 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Ziggy, I believe that any pouring medium would be fine. It's just that is what I use as I'm in Australia. I have bought a set of micas, and some Josonja gloss varnish to mix them with but haven't tried it yet. Yes, I really must try them out! Thanks for the push! I love using the DecoArt Extreme Sheen paints to add some extra shine and cells. In fact, any metallics in the jewellery pours really add that extra zing, I find. xx

    I left a note on a piece of your beautiful jewelry creations, done a year ago. This is one is only 3 months ago and I seek some wisdom. You are a genius. I wish to use you as one of my mentors. What are those 2 piece sets called and where can I find them? I will send all of my subscribers to you so that they can learn from a Master. The best jeweler on TH-cam! boB

      You are very kind, boB. I'm not sure what you mean by those 2 piece sets. As I just mentioned in the comment you left on the jewellery video, you can see a list of the products used in the description field under the video. I hope that will help. Otherwise, please give me a more detailed description of what you mean. Best wishes, Alison

      Hello boB, That is very kind of you to say that. In the description field below the video, I have links to the products in the video. I think what you are referring to is the long rectangular pendant. They come with the cabochons, the glass part. If you click on the link, or copy and paste into your browser, you should be able to find them. Best wishes, Alison Hood

      I am sorry about that. I've been spending a lot of time typing up what I say. If you press the CC button you can read what I'm saying. I think that this was recorded when my lapel mic stopped working, so it's just what my phone picked up.

    Love this video!!! However I have so many questions..lol.. what did you use to seal the back, and around the edges if you didn't put them into a pendant? I am looking for ideas for charms and I am SO glad I came across your video

    • @artwithalison
      @artwithalison 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Becky, I use varnish to seal the back of my stud earrings which are exposed. I use Liquitex Gloss varnish. Just paint in on with a small paint brush. Thank you for your lovely comments. It is very much appreciated 🥰

      Between the glass cabochon and the golf tee is poster putty.

    Loved your work . I am looking at doing the same and have made some ,but have know idea how much to charge ,help needed .also it’s a worry when they talk about skins with silicone in it , I don’t know what would happen

    • @artwithalison
      @artwithalison 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Linda, Thank you very much. I don't use silicone in my paints for jewellery - ever! If the oil got between the glass and the paint, it would mean that the paint would not stick to the glass in that area. If using dried paint (skins), you would need to treat it in such a way to avoid that happening with the skins, such as rubbing alcohol. Though I don't do skins, so I am no expert on that. As far as charging, I would suggest going to your local markets and seeing what they are selling their similar quality jewellery for. People from different locations are likely willing to spend differently on luxury items, such as jewellery. I live in the south west of Western Australia and I sell my jewellery mainly through a little shop in a town where the main road passes through, so there are a lot of tourists passing by and so that helps with my sales. I started off selling my earrings at $20AU and also my pendants at $20AU. That was about four years ago. I now sell them for $27AU. I also sell earrings and pendants as sets. You would have seen in the video how I put them in little display boxes (which I buy from Amazon - I will put the link in the description area). I am currently selling the sets for around $45. The sets sell very well as people like to give them as gifts. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and good luck with your creations, Alison

    Thank you, your work is beautiful. How do you price your jewelry.

    • @artwithalison
      @artwithalison 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! When I started, I priced earrings at $20AU a pair and $20 for a pendant as well as $35 for a set. That was four years ago. I now sell them for $27 for a pair of earrings and $27 for a pendant and $45 for a set. This is in Australian dollars. I mainly sell them from a local art and craft shop and they sell quite well.

    I got my order to make the jewelry looking forward to starting on it tomorrow how long does it take for the paint to dry when you dip it

    • @artwithalison
      @artwithalison 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, how exciting Linda! The drying time depends, somewhat, on the weather conditions where you are. They will dry faster in a warm, dry climate than in a wet or humid climate. In our summer here in Western Australia, I find that it only needs a few days to dry thoroughly. Though, I usually like to wait a week or so, to be sure. Have fun! I'd love to hear how you go. Best wishes, Alison 🥰💕
