5 mi away from my neighborhood is the Gulf of Mexico so I think they already had half the beach in their backyards and water in their houses from Helene 12 days before. It wasn't too bad over here. Lots of things ripped off the trees it's still waiting to be picked up. Everything in the freezer everything in the refrigerator the power was out for 4 days. I guess the maximum is 3. Cuz it wasn't too bad with Irma we didn't lose a lot of food. And the metal overhang that hangs off the side of our shed isn't there anymore. It didn't fly off it ripped off. But then it just fell down because it was attached to a fence to keep two of our ducks apart when they were bothering each other we actually needed a seven or eight foot fence that had to go all the way up to that overhang to keep the boy out. Otherwise he just climbed it. Muscovy Ducks I didn't know they could climb so well when they were that motivated. But shadow he was motivated. So that actually held the roof and it didn't fly away and take our neighbor's head off. I don't know why he was outside. And we were somewhere else. And my brother's sandbagged the back of the garage door so nothing leaked in there. We are still waiting for rain to see if there are any more holes in the roof that need to be fixed It's been more than 5 weeks and we're still waiting. Maybe we will get a little bit from what was going to be Sara But maybe we won't. At least it's not dry enough yet that we are having fires or anything so that's good. One of the hurricanes this year really there was water coming down in the kitchen and there was a lot of water coming down in the back porch through the roof. And we're still trying to find where some of those holes are. But other than that it was just a four-day power outage. And I really thought it was going to be longer. It looked like it was going to be really bad. It wasn't good but I really thought it was going to be a whole lot worse. But we weren't here. My roommate was here and he locked up the ducks and then I guess he let them out. When we got home it was dark so they were already in bed in their house which he made. And it was just yesterday when he put the plastic around the outside of the duck house to prepare it for the cold that they did say is coming on Wednesday or Thursday I forget. But he didn't have it up at the time. Just the tarp over the roof that is always there so when it rains if it ever rains... Sometimes leaks. There's some pool noodles up there so it doesn't puddle on top of the roof of the duck house. And other than that, they are ducks. They don't like getting wet but they know what to do when they do. I noticed this year that they were drinking water off their backs. I saw them swallow it. Anyway...

Wow, thanks for sharing and for your caring soul. I was at my resort from Tuesday morning until late Thursday. You know where that is, and it was a long night, for sure. I am so glad you are all safe. There was no damage at my home; I was just 36 hours without power.

I moved from Georgia to Florida almost 2 years ago. I’m Georgian born and raised. Something to remember, yall moved down in literally the hottest time lol! The state is beautiful and perfect weather come fall and winter. Once you get through this time of year, it only gets better 😊

I been to Florida tons of time but I have to admit I’m a San Diego native and in my opinion ( besides the country side ) is one of the best places to live especially our weather . Florida is more country but it’s ok it’s the weather that makes it hard at times to be outdoorsy

I completely agree that selling a house is very stressful. The constant worry to keep everything neat, smelling nice, avoiding any further damage, on top of kids can be a lot until it sells. But it is so worth it in the end 🤍 I told my husband that I refuse to move for another 10-15 years because of how much I hated the process lol. S o happy you guys accepted an offer and wishing you a smooth move!
