How to fix a Whirlpool Duet Washing Machine that is leaking and clean out the filter
มุมมอง 34K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Washing machine started leaking. Took it apart and found a leak in the drain hose. Was able to fix it, and discovered there is a pump filter that should probably be cleaned out once a year. We bought these as a set used for cheap. I'm glad I was able to keep them going.

    After cleaning/inspecting the door gasket my leak appears to be fixed. I’m gonna clean out the trap and see if there is a leak from the underside. I have two dogs and found a huge wad of hair inside the rubber door gasket. I bet the trap is full of hair. The whirlpool guy assured me there was no filter that needed cleaning…he just wanted to sell me a new machine…Newer machines have an access door to drain the machine and I have seen one that has a fine mesh catchment filter that is easy to access and clean.

    Thanks, I didn't know about this, very helpful, I thought you had staged this until I decided to clean the filter on my 15 year old Duet Sport. LOL, I had 35 cents and a chained tie tack. I thought I lost the tie tac it on my last trip! All junked up so I will replace it. No more F-33 shutdowns, but one of the pump blades is missing half of it's blade. I'll be replacing the drain pump too! Maybe the whole unit if I can't fix the leaking door. It only leaks when loaded with a large load. Well time to find that video. Thanks for the help.

    The pairing issue is very normal. The way to solve is to setup a sole 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channel and make your phone connect to it and then to pair. I setup a non-broadcasting 2.4GHz channel Wi-Fi specially for my smart home devices, then I tried again and the doorbell paired in HomeKit immediately. Now, most new modems provide a combined Wi-Fi that includes both 2.4 and 5 GHz, which confuses the automatic network recognition of the doorbell. Most smart home devices only support 2.4GHz or better support 2.4GHz in a combined channel.

    I just get a smart light and tell the smart switch to control it. To do this, you need to have constant power down to the switch and also constant power to the bulb. This is usually a 5 minute job by changing the wiring of the socket.

      As an update, our duet washing machine leak ended up being a black rubber hose between the soap dispenser and the top middle of the drum. I removed the top metal cover and bottom lower front metal cover, ran a load, and eventually figured out where the water was coming from. It would only come out during the spin cycle. I ordered the replacement rubber hose off the Internet for about $50 delivered including sales tax. Our machines are getting up there in years. About 15 years old. Unfortunately, during these crazy COVID economic times, supplies of new washing machines are limited and prices have shot through the roof. What we’ve accomplished is a Band-Aid. These things are still approaching end of life, but I bought us time. Our hope is normal times will return within the next couple of years, then we will replace with new, hopefully without spending nearly $2000 on a entry-level washer and dryer which is almost how much it would cost today.

    I'm about to send back my 2nd defective doorbell, they work for a few weeks then they stop working, the first one I would have to factory reset every few weeks, and re-add to the homekit, this one lasted about a month total and it's bricked, I cannot even factory reset it. One thing I noticed is, your doorbell functions way better than mine, I have a brand new transformer, tested at 24v, and when you activate the normal doorbell it doesn't "bing bong" it just "bings" any thoughts if by chance somehow what could be causing the doorbell chime to not work well, and eventually self destructing the doorbell.

    I have no neutral wires in my home as it was built in the early 70's. The smart switches require a neutral wire to power the wifi chip in the switch. Couldn't I simply split the hot wire or load wire before it goes into the switch and use the new hot or load wire as a neutral to power the wifi portion of the switch? I am aware that there are no neutral switches on the market but they are 3 times as expensive and im broke so Im looking for a simple hack to bypass this without having to rewire the house or return all the switches and go back to the originals.

      So what did you do?

    • @BenTodd79
      @BenTodd79 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UltimateSG15 Because the house is ancient and rewireing the whole place would cost and arm and a leg, I went a less expensive route. Lutron makes plugs that don't require neutral wires. While they cost a little over double what a plug that uses neutrals does I ended up only replacing some rather than all. It was really my only option. For the ones I didn't replace I'm just using plug adapters that I can pair with Google home.

  • @decosse01

    Not an electrician either but I believe it is legal (but check your local code) to share Neutral as long as the breakers for both circuits are physically bonded. This might be easier to replace the breakers to achieve that vs running new Romex (you might need to move things around in the panel if they are not currently next to each other). The total Neutral current should not exceed the limit of course but this would not be an issue for adding a Smart Switch which likely has a load of only a few 10's of mA (it's not adding the load current from the Smart Switch, only its power supply current). The other way to go would just be to utilize the same incoming line voltage for both switches thus sharing the same line and neutral. The line voltage originally on the other switch (being replaced) would be isolated and only the load conductor used. In this case the circuit must have the load capability for both circuits (should not be an issue especially with LEDs replacing incandescent bulbs and we are not talking about Outlets here).

    Very great video! Now I know you’re not an electrician, but would you know if you could you use a 3 wire with a ground when the switch has no neutral? I have easy access where I could remove the wires and replace them, and I was thinking the black and red would be hot on the switch end, the neutral being for the smart switch. Thanks

    0:15 if this video quality is "quite good" then we have completely different idea of quality. 1080p feed should be free of any pixelation. In this video details (i.e. big text on the box) are blurry and barely visible which defeats the purpose of a doorbell as a security device. It is toy at best.

    1. Is there a ringer that you can put inside your house or does it just ring on your phone? Or can you integrate it into an Amazon Echo or a Google Nest Hub for ringing and/or monitoring? 2. Is there a Logitech way to setup and control the doorbell (like a web interface) or is it only usable with Home Kit?

    • @funprojectswithbrad1089
      @funprojectswithbrad1089 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      1) if you have a HomePod, it will ring on that, or if you have an Apple TV it will alert on screen if the TV is on. It’s not comparable with Amazon or google. 2) As far as I can tell there is no web interface. This is home kit only, no Logitech app/interface. I was thinking about running a scan and seeing if there are any ports open or any way to get to a low level interface. I’ll let you know what I find.

    • @funprojectswithbrad1089
      @funprojectswithbrad1089 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did a NMAP Scan and it shows one port open using HTTP. The port is 49152, not sure if changes or static, but connecting to it with a web browser shows a blank page. What is more interesting, is I did a pcap from my firewall, and the doorbell is connecting to a server in Canada at 76.71.228.226. The doorbell is sending full packets to the server, so it's not a software update. Maybe I'll do a video just on this aspect alone, it's interesting for sure. Homekit devices are suppose to be more secure, it's suppose to be using the Apple TV in my house for outside connections. I'm not sure I want my doorbell sending data outside of that ecosystem

    Have a look at the other videos for this doorbell. They should help with the installation. For one thing, the wires that come with the Logitech doorbell are for the chime in your home, not for extending the original wires from the existing doorbell. The directions are online and walk you through very easily. It took 15 min. to get set up and going. Also, there was a command strip to attach the chime piece to the chime. Glad you got it working, but it really could have been a better video.

    • @funprojectswithbrad1089
      @funprojectswithbrad1089 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Milly, that’s a great point about the command strip. I didn’t see it, but that could work well for attaching the chime adapter to the existing chime. I didn’t have room, but it could work well for someone else.
