What the Bible Says About Amendment 3
In today's charged political and social landscape, discussions about moral responsibilities are often fraught with tension, especially when they intersect with deeply personal topics like abortion. As Christians, it’s vital that we remember the foundational commandment: "Love thy neighbor." But who is our neighbor? According to Scripture, our neighbor includes everyone, even those yet to be born.
Scripture’s Call to Protect Life
In Exodus 21:22-25, we find a clear directive concerning the sanctity of life. The passage describes a scenario where two men are fighting and accidentally harm a pregnant woman, causing her to give birth prematurely. If no harm comes to the mother or child, the offender is fined. But if harm does occur, the punishment is life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, showing the seriousness with which God views the protection of life-even the life of the unborn.
This passage makes it clear that in God’s eyes, preborn life is just as valuable as the life of an adult. The very least we can do as a society is respect and protect pregnant women and their unborn children. This biblical teaching underlines that the preborn child is indeed our neighbor, deserving of protection, care, and advocacy.
The Role of Civil Government
The primary purpose of government, according to Scripture, is the protection of life. Before God commanded against theft or covetousness, He commanded, “You shall not murder.” The protection of innocent life is the first inalienable right because we are made in the image of God.
In today’s debates, you often hear the phrase, “My body, my choice.” But we must remember that in the case of abortion, we are dealing with two bodies-two lives. The preborn child is a separate human being with a unique DNA code. As Christians, we are called to love our preborn neighbor just as we are called to love all others.
The Seriousness of Consent and Culpability
There is an inherent responsibility to speak up for the voiceless, and silence or consent in the face of injustice makes us culpable. This principle is echoed throughout Scripture. In Jeremiah 26:15, the prophet warns, “If you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood upon yourselves.” Likewise, in the case of abortion, if we remain silent, we share in the guilt of the act. Even the Apostle Paul, though he did not personally throw a stone at Stephen, mourned the fact that he consented to Stephen’s death and considered himself the “chief of sinners.”
We are called to defend life and to stand for the innocent, especially those who cannot defend themselves. If we truly love our neighbor, we cannot turn a blind eye to the plight of the unborn.
A Message of Grace and Forgiveness
While the message of protecting life is critical, we must also remember that God's grace is greater than any sin. The Bible gives examples of murderers who found forgiveness in God-David, Paul, and Moses, to name a few. The message of the Gospel is that no sin is beyond the reach of God's forgiveness. In Romans 6:20-23, Paul reminds us, “The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
For those who have participated in or supported abortion, there is hope. Repentance and faith in Christ bring complete forgiveness and restoration. We must remember that Christ died to save sinners, and through Him, we can be made new.
Loving Our Preborn Neighbor
As Christians, we are commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves. If we were the ones being dismembered in the womb, wouldn't we want someone to speak out for us? Wouldn't we want someone to fight for our life? Love compels us to act on behalf of the innocent and to engage in conversations, even when they are uncomfortable. Love requires us to defend those who cannot defend themselves.
As we navigate these difficult moral and political issues, let us do so with a heart full of compassion and a commitment to truth. The protection of life is not only a civil issue but a deeply moral one, rooted in the commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves. Let us be bold in defending life and sharing the hope and forgiveness found in Christ.

Love Thy Neighbor | Romans 13
มุมมอง 39 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Love Thy Neighbor: The Foundation of True Justice and Peace In this passage, Paul makes a profound connection between how we relate to governing authorities and how we live out the commandment to love one another. He begins by addressing the role of civil authorities and the Christian’s responsibility to respect and obey them. He reminds us that every governing authority exists because God, in ...
Why We Do Baby Dedications
มุมมอง 29 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
This morning, we’re celebrating a special moment with a baby dedication, and I want to take a few moments to explain why we do this as a church. At Church of the Word, we don’t practice infant baptism, but we do dedicate babies. You might wonder why we emphasize this tradition, so I’d like to show you a few scriptures that point to the significance of this act. In Acts 2:38-39, Peter says: "Rep...
Where Do Our Rights Come From?
มุมมอง 869 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Rights come from God, not the government. If rights were granted by governments, they could be taken away at will. However, when God, specifically Yahweh Elohim and the Lord Jesus Christ, is recognized as the ultimate authority, moral law and human rights are grounded in Him. It is wrong to harm others, not just because it offends them, but because it violates God’s authority. The first command...
What Do We Do With The Ten Commandments? | Exodus 20

Introduction: The Purpose of the Law This morning, we’re stepping away briefly from our series in Genesis to look at the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20. It’s a familiar passage, but it carries timeless significance for us as believers. I’ve titled this message, “What Do We Do with the Ten Commandments?” because many struggle to understand the relevance of God's law, especially in light of the go...

Much like the Resurrection, this never actually happened. The only people who get offended by Christians doing Christianity wrong are other Christians who hate that the competition is cutting into their profit margins. Us functional human beings don't give a crap ankut you and your money fights, any moreso than we care about regional disputes between McDonalds franchisees or the financial squabblings of any other middle managers of any other international megacorporation selling mass produced, lowest common denominator poison to the masses.

Christians aren't pro-life as proven by the hatred for the vast majority of humanity. When asked about forcing more people to be born knowing that more people will suffer eternal torment...Christian, @Scott_Terry, said, "Your mistake is thinking that anyone who ends up in Hell is a sort of loss for God or that their journey to Hell is shameful to Him. Rather, their going to Hell glorifies Him somehow or other, which is great news for abortion doctors since that's where they're all headed." Is there anything that shows more hatred than that statement? He is so delusional he believes my critique on hell is on an imaginary god and not his own monstrous justifications. Nothing showcases the lie of christ and the moral bankruptcy of forced birth extremist more so than their belief in hell. Does Christian belief upon hell prove they truly hate humanity? Should their actions, words and beliefs be used to showcase this hatred? If hell is real then the number one moral thing that could ever happen is for no births to ever occur again. In fact, abortion would be the second most moral thing one could ever choose. No finite life would ever be worth the risk of eternal suffering. The hate of those that want to force more births while believing the majority of those ever born will choose eternal torment is overwhelming. Most forced birth christians agree that an aborted fetus would go to heaven (but there are still some christians who believe their god would send a fetus to hell)! How sick is that? How insane is a religion that makes human extinction the best option to end human suffering? And this flawed thinking by the so called pro-life movement and christians is what makes them so dangerous and showcases their evil hypocrisy. They think they are moral but are far from it! They place the worth of a non-conscious being over the well being of every human on the planet. You see this in their support of those that do nothing about climate change or gun violence, supporting those that do nothing about America's unsustainable health care costs, supporting those that give tax breaks to billionaires at the expense of the poor and middle class, the support of Trump's authoritarianism and supporting those that want to force raped little girls to give birth. The pure hatred for all conscious life is the foundation of christians as shown by their real world actions, words and beliefs.
