my dog🐶💀😂
What a sweet puppy!
OMG, what a super cute dog!
Do you take her out on grass? She’s lovely. When we had an Irish puppy my husband and I worked in shifts. I’d stay up with her until midnight then she’d get crated. My husband would wake at 6 am and do the morning shift. A lot of work but she was an amazing dog. Hoping to get our second one someday.
Does this breed shed?
No they don’t. You have to get them clipped a few times a year or you can strip them with a brush or a stripping stone. Hope that helps
😅
She’s lovely- as I understand it these dogs need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation to be calm dogs? How long do you walk twiglet and what other things does she need to keep her so chilled 😄
Beautiful, bouncy girl, lovely.
😂😂😂
I love my Irish terrier. This is him in the pic with me. He is very naughty but lovable
He looks fantastic. They really are characters
@@rowanwanstall6599 This is my first one. He is 2. I had German shepherd show dogs my whole life. From now on I will always have an irish terrier though. Even though he is naughty.
I love my Irish terrier. He is 2
Bit late on this one, but it's great to see how Twiglet is getting on, and she remindes me so much of my Aoife, even down to the same ear. If you have as much joy from your IT as I had from mine, then your a very lucky person. From the video it looks like your lucky :)
Sorry , Shoelace, Sketchy Stuff she can ingest. All Terriers are Tenacious. You need to teach right & Wrong. at her young age. Your Teachings Shape Her for Life..
i did not to over step any boundaries of how you raise your pup.
You are completely right. It was all fun and cute when she was a puppy but we then realised we had taught her it was okay to chew our shoes.
She's lovely, but what made you get an Irish terrier?
Haha very good question. Before Twiglet we had an irish terrier called Marmite who was a puppy of our friends dog who we loved. Once you’ve got to know how much character the breed has its hard to want a normal well behaved dog instead.
@@rowanwanstall6599 LOL Yes character is everything in choosing a dog, my friend. A happy life to you and yours, and of course Twiglet too. Cheers mate.
I’ve never seen such a chilled IT. Ours is 4 years old and is still a complete goof ball.
She still has her moments but compared to some other Irish Terriers I’ve met she is relatively calm 😂
My IT is super chill as well. Outside he can run for hours, but at home he's mostly just sleeping. He only goes nuts inside if he doesn't get enough exercise. Maybe that's the key to a calm IT 🤷♂️
Ours is nearly 12 and still a complete fanny
Thank you for video
I have same bride I M FROM RUSSIA AND NOW WITH DOG IN PHILIPPINES
Everytime I see irish terriers, I shed a tear :( Our beautiful Amy died a few weeks ago, she was 16...Such a sweet angel, I will never forget how she laid dead in the box my dad brought with him to the vet. Few days prior to her euthanization, she randomly dropped on the floor a few times...At first, we thought epilepsy or a brain tumor (she had a past with cancer) but when we brought her to the vet on her final day, he told us that she had water in her lungs which cut the oxygen intake to her blood. He then said if we don't euthanize her right now, she may die in a few days, so I'm very glad we granted her a peaceful way out. She was my first dog and I have so many beautiful memories with her...She always cheered me up when I was feeling down, she was the thing that held our family together when there were arguments etc. Irish terriers are literally angels sent from above, such sweet, loving dogs!
It’s always heartbreaking when you have to say goodbye as they become part of the family. It also makes it more difficult as unlike people where feelings can be complicated, it is 100% unconditional love. I’m sorry for your loss but Amy didn’t suffer and you did all you could. You are right Irish Terriers arn’t like other dogs they are so much more
I want Twiglets life😂
She has it far too good 😅
They deserve the best life, they give so much joy to others. But yeah, we all should be so lucky!
So lovely to see Twiglet again. Our Pip is now one and a half and such a character. They are such great dogs
They grow up so fast ❤️ Once you've had an irish terrier you cant go back
Thanks for the update.
No worries :)
I got an IT and he’s the best. When did Twiglet’s ear(s) go up? The breeder and my mum wanted me to glue my dogs ears down :(. One ear was up and one was down at 3 months. Now both are down and have no sign of going up at 4.5 months. I think my mom massaged his ears or something because they looked to be going up and we’re like half way up and then out of nowhere they became totally deflated. They kinda look to be going up again. Now they’re like bent sideways like airplane ears. I hope they go up, or at least one like Twiglets.
Twiglet had both ears up between 1-3 months and then at probably six months she had one up one down and its been like that ever since. We heard about glueing the ears but that seemed cruel. I've heard people massage the ears but I'm not sure how much massaging you would have to do for it to change anything. I think some irish terriers have ears down, some up and some a bit of both.
What do you feed the dog as a puppy and as a adult?
What do you feed the dog?
Hi, as a puppy she was fed Lilly's kitchen chicken and salmon dry puppy food. Now as an adult she has Tesco's own adult tinned wet food and then some Harrington complete dry food which she sort of snacks on during the day. Irish terriers can be fussy when it comes to food
I don't think that he likes you two.
Why do you say that 😅 She is a very stubborn dog
Beautiful girl 😘❤️🇺🇸😍
Ours is coming up on one year, and, except for the early morning scratchies, a completely different temperament and experience. Ours does have more freedom and space, and takes full advantage of it …. trees squirrels, patrols the fenced backyard, has established her own nap times and daily schedule, and it actually works for us as well. Plays well with our kids’ dogs when they come to visit, but has to be kept separate from our other dogs. Will play ball with you every waking moment, with tail wagging the whole time. Pure speed and agility. Will make you so upset one moment, and make you cry the next, with how cute and precious she is. She loves to “help” and be in on projects. Her life is very much entwined in ours, both at home and at work, but watching this video all I can say is you got it easy. 😊
Amazing! Twiglet would love to patrol for squirrels everyday, its a real shame she doesn't have a garden. Precious is a good word for Irish Terriers they really are one of a kind. Its a shame your dogs don't get on ours loves playing with other dogs and going to doggy daycare
@@rowanwanstall6599Ours gets on with other dogs, just not our other dogs. We have a 14yo Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a 10yo Mini Schnauzer (which acts like a full-sized Schnauzer!). They’ve been together all along and are settled in their ways, but this IT came in like the Tasmanian Devil in the cartoons and we decided we would just have to hope that the IT would settle down at some point. Right now they live separate lives under the same roof.
Ohh I see that makes sense! Our neighbours dog was older and had no interest in a crazy IT running around with her pants on her head. We can only hope that they calm down one day 😂
So beautiful and seems very cheeky
what
lmao
What breed is the little guy ?
I have a 7 year old Irish terrier and miss her puppy days!! What a sweet angel!!
Now, that's a dog's dog! Intelligent, frisky, easy on the eyes . . . with gams to die for. I've been wanting such a pup, but the breed is very hard to find in the States.
Gams?
Hi, great video and lovley dog. Is her breed prone to barking much, and is she a high energy type of dog. Hope you don’t mind the questions. Regards Martin.
Hi glad you liked the video :) I would say yes. We've had two irish terriers and both barked, not constantly but when exited or when someone comes to the front door. Most of the time if you told them to stop barking they would make weird grumbling noises instead. They are very high energy and need a lot of exercise and also mental stimulation or they get bored and start destroying things. Lots of sniffing seems to be good and helps to keep them entertained and calm or those toys where you hide food inside them. Hope this helps
We adopted a dog, first one ever, and they only said it was a “terrier mix”. After watching this, I’m sure my dog is an Irish Terrier with a little mix in there. Tail is longer, legs are longer and the coat is a little more wire like. So cute! Same face and chest stripe
Not sure WHY!! I'm watching your beautiful puppy as I have an 11 month old Lakeland laying down 10 ft away!!! That does the same thing other than she is mostly housebroke now.
Hey where can I get one in Cornwall.
Not sure about the toilet training. I've always taken pups to the lawn.
LOVE your spot on the coast~! I have a Lakeland. She's 10.5 months. We live in the NW part of the US and can get lots of snow. Even with her growing a winter coat I just feel better if she wears a coat when we go walking. She has a raincoat too which she wears when it is pouring down. My opinion? Yes.
i loved my Irish terrier growing up. Wikkie was the biggest pain in my ass . running away any chants he got to get him self layed in the summer. sagging the living daylights out of my Collie at any chants he got. but he loved me and the famliy to bits and allway happy to see ya. lots and lots of energy and lots of character that you would never wont to change. what a lovely dog to have in your life! i miss him lots. bless WIKKIE!!!!!!!!!
Yes they are one of a kind and although they drive you mad you wouldn't have it any other way!
Wow Thanks for the update! Been wondering if we would ever get another update. She looks so calm! May I ask how tall she is now and how much does she weigh?
Glad you liked it :) Her body is now 20cm high and she weighs 12kg
How big is your kite ?
Its a 4m kite made by beamer
We like the look of Twiglet’s mattress. Can you please tell us what it is and where it’s from? We’re in the UK. Thanks.
Her bed is an Elli-Bo pet bed :)
And then she just has lots of blankets on top in the winter
Oh she’s lovely Rowan. Got our girl two weeks ago. Pip. She’s turned our lives upside down. We love her to bits. She looks exactly like Twiglet. Brilliant video. Pip is now 14 weeks and has changed so much in the short time we’ve had her. These dogs bring so much joy don’t they? I love the way she looks at you when you’re brushing her. Best wishes to you all!!
Amazing! I hope you have as much fun as we do. They really are best companions and I think Pip is an excellent name. I hope you and your family had a happy Christmas :)
We love this dog so much we are now getting one of our own!! Brilliant video!!!
Amazing! They are the best. Not the easiest to train but they are full of love
Can you please make more videos on your dog? We are getting an Irish Terrier Puppy in September and haven’t been able to find much info from Irish Terrier owners - they’re quite rare here in Australia. Would love to know how you found training her, how you keep her entertained, tips for toilet training, if she barks etc etc.
Congratulations for getting your own Irish Terrier! The best thing I can recommend is joining a facebook group called the Irish Terrier Association. Its full of lovely kind people from all over the world who are more than happy to help out a fellow IT owner. For toilet training (sounds over the top) but write down how often they wee and poop. Once you know how often e.g. every twenty minutes at the start, thats when you take them out. Lots of praise and a treat if they go outside and if they go inside no praise and ignore it. There too young to be told off for going to the toilet inside. They do bark but it's usually to say hello to people and twiglet usually stops when you tell her too. Like all terriers they are very energetic and need lots of toys and things to keep them entertained. I hope this helps and feel free to ask any more questions :)
I can also recommend the fb group Training Irish Terriers - there are a lot of useful information and there are also some IT owners from Australia :)
@@rowanwanstall6599 thank you for the response - we just got our pup (Ted) this week. He's such a handful but we love him. The bark came out this week and he's showing more of his personality each day. Thank you for the tips and handy Facebook page
Classic Irish Terrier behavior, fun to watch this video.
Thank you :) shes a rascal but we wouldn't have her any other way
Ha. I named my Irish Rowan!
Haha brilliant
Hi, Can I possibly use clips of your video to a video project I am working on? Thanks a lot!
Yes absolutely :)
