finding a suitable host institution can be time-consuming, requiring careful planning and consideration.* 15:57 *💼 The timeline for receiving results after application submission depends on the proximity to the selection committee meeting, with results typically taking a few months.* 18:30 *💰 Once awarded, fellows must join the host institution within six months and go through formalities to access the research grant, which is released annually.* 21:18 *🔍 Ramanujan Fellows can apply for core research grants from CRB as principal investigators, but rules regarding facilities access vary among institutions.* 22:44 *🔄 Fellows can transfer their fellowship to another host institution with mutual agreement between the current and new institutions, facilitating continuity of research.* 26:45 *🎓 Ramanujan Fellowship and DST Inspire Faculty Award facilitated academic career transitions for Dr. Banerjee, highlighting the importance of returning to India for national development.* 28:36 *📝 Grant proposal essentials include concise titles, detailed abstracts, clear methodologies, and cost-effective plans, tailored to address gaps in existing literature.* 32:08 *🔍 Evaluating national and international research status is vital for justifying project relevance and identifying gaps, emphasizing novelty and uniqueness in research topics.* 33:06 *📅 Effective project timelines ensure realistic goal achievement, utilizing institutional support and resources, and justifying budget allocation.* 36:12 *🔄 Developing strong grant proposals requires ample time, collaboration, and evaluation focuses on selecting candidates based on their research capabilities and potential to add value to the host institution.* 59:48 *💼 The SERB's Ramanujan Fellowship emphasizes three pathways: identifying the best candidates, ensuring ease of doing the fellowship, and facilitating transition into the Indian research ecosystem.* 01:04:27 *📚 Research credentials of the applicant are highly valued in fellowship applications, with a focus on the applicant's capability rather than just the proposal.* 01:12:17 *🏫 When choosing a host institution, factors such as potential absorption, complementing ongoing research, and personal circumstances influence the decision-making process for applicants.* 01:16:33 *💼 Dr. Suma Sundaram emphasizes that industrial backing for research applications often receives favorable responses due to its potential societal impact, highlighting the value of industry-supported postdocs like those offered by the Ramanujan Fellowship.* 01:18:38 *🌱 Dr. Pravin Kumar discusses the importance of translational science and fostering partnerships between academia and industry to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the role of private universities in this process.* 01:21:07 *🤔 Assistant professor positions abroad do not carry weightage when applying for the Ramanujan Fellowship, highlighting the focus on the applicant's potential value addition to the research ecosystem rather than their current position.* 01:22:17 *🔄 Dr. Pravin Kumar discusses the importance of creating a conducive ecosystem for research in India, including initiatives like the "Supra Scheme" for unconventional ideas and the "SERB of Fire" program for industry-academic research collaborations.* 01:25:31 *🏗️ Dr. Janardhan emphasizes the institutional support provided to Ramanujan Fellows, including access to seed funding, lab space, and PhD guidance, with a focus on fostering collaboration and enterprise within the host institution.* 01:41:01 *🔍 Different trajectories: Every Ramanujan or Ramallah Swami fellow has a unique trajectory, some being late bloomers and some early bloomers. Comparisons should be avoided, allowing each individual enough time to prove themselves and contribute to the research ecosystem.* 01:42:14 *🏫 Professional development programs: Regular faculty development programs are mandated, including teaching components, to attract good students and enhance research capabilities. Continuous medical education and lectures are also provided to facilitate learning and collaboration.* 01:44:02 *🤝 Integration support: The ACRB offers the SRC (Scientist Researcher Scheme) for Ramanujan fellows unable to secure permanent positions, providing fellowship opportunities for up to three years, extendable by an additional year.* 01:46:18 *🤰 Maternity leave: Maternity leave is accommodated within the fellowship duration, with provisions for compensation beyond the five-year fellowship period.* 01:47:03 *📝 Application review: All applications undergo thorough review, even those in areas lacking domain expertise within the selection committee, ensuring a fair assessment through peer review.* 01:48:43 *📊 Age limit: The upper age limit for fellowship nomination is set at 40 to ensure candidates have sufficient time to establish themselves professionally and integrate into the research ecosystem effectively.* 01:49:10 *💡 Success factors: Success in the Ramanujan Fellowship requires passion for India-focused research, adaptability to Indian scenarios, collaboration, and readiness to relocate, along with strong CVs and achievable proposals.* 01:51:53 *🛠️ Support and mentoring: Long-term support, including mentoring and periodic performance reviews, is essential for fellows to thrive and secure permanent positions post-fellowship.*
Very well articulated Kripa 👍👍👏👏
I am an undergraduate Computer Science Engineering Student who loves science communication. I always think that there's lack of science or particularly knowledge/information influencers on social media platforms. We'll find 1000s of so called influencers in India but only 1 out of hundred as infotainment influencer. I want to contribute in providing such knowledge provided by SCIROI experts to students who seek guidance . How can I become Active member of Sci-ROI who can contribute ? I have already filled the membership sign up . Also I loved the Academia to entrepreneurship Seminar and the conversation with Dr Soumya Swaminathan Ma'am as my earlier goal was to become a doctor . I really want to thank you all for providing such outstanding Content

What is a good time to apply for faculty posts after postdocs
Age criteria 35 is essential? After this age the chances of the applicants is reduced?
Very useful and interesting discussions ! Thanks a lot !
My second question is that can we elaborate our methodology or it should be brief?
I have to know that research proposal is written within 2500 words so is it uploaded in PDF format? Can we write proposal in latex. Or it is uploaded in doc file. Please tell me.
thank you so much.. it was the most important video I saw in a while..
Whom to reach is a better option. Dean ; HoD or director? any suggestion
Hello everyone, I would like to inquire if anyone has information regarding the number of attempts permitted for the Ramanujan-Reentry fellowship in the following scenarios: A) In case an applicant is shortlisted but does not join within the specified time frame, are they allowed to reapply? B) If an applicant is unsuccessful in their initial attempt, are they permitted to reapply? I couldn't find any information on the SERB website confirming the number of attempts allowed for an applicant. Thank you for any insights you can provide.
You can apply any number of times until the age of 40. There is no restriction by SERB.
Is there is any age relaxation for womens over 32
Thank you for uploading
great video Sci-ROI. I crushed the thumbs up on your video. Keep up the very good work.
As far as we know that reference names is not required at present in the RAMANUJAN FELLOWSHIP. Please clarify,if possible.
No reference names/ recommendation letters are required for the application of RAMANUJAN FELLOWSHIP.
Good talks. Complemented each other very well and covered all aspects. 👍
Dr Garg told .
The scheme implemented with good intention to help young researcher in getting handsome salary for five years. Host inst just make good use of young fellow as most of inst are lacking manpower and fellow should never think for any absorption at host if he/she would like to continue his/her life as academicians.
It's really cool that the topic of income was discussed. It is ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to think when planning a career, but get brushed aside for the more attractive points. Glad the panelist discussed this. Payment per word for freelancing sounds brutal to be honest. A lot of time is spent in researching the topic, especially in science communication, this wont be reflected in the number of words in the final draft. Hope the system improves from a payment per word to payment per hour spent on the piece.
Great talk!
Super Raghu..go ahead..👍
Thanks a lot for all the memebers of the panel.
