*EDITOR'S NOTE* Had some random audio issues that didn't show up until after recording. Some parts have some echo going on but it doesn't last more than a minute in most cases. Not sure why these are happening but I'll try to get it figured out for future videos. Welcome to Retro-spective, a deep dive into past champions Nationals and/or World Champion decks and how they would update said decks...

How to Evaluate Your Altered TCG Cards - Characters and Cost Curve
มุมมอง 5972 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video is a how to on helping players evaluate their cards using a cost curve in order to help the deck-building process
Thanks again for another great video!
Great episode. Can't wait for more altered content :)
Nice video, can you share tips and trick on how to operate the deck and how to upgrade it ?
With Sigismar you want to get as many Ordis Trooper tokens out as possible. Try to play an early Ordis Carrier really helps with that and overwhelm them with tokens.
Love seeing more Altered content!
Glad you like it! More is on the way!
Very excited for the new set. Thanks for the advice! I was getting stomped on BGA. I made some adjustments based on the skeleton. We will see where it takes me! Let me know when you get your discord online!
Will do! Would also love to hear back from you about your games after the change!
I played 2 games with the changes and I ended up in tie breakers. I played Aura and Kibble and went up against Muna and Bravos. They just had bigger cards in the last round.
Auraq is one of my favs but they do play the game a bit differently then most. I have found that Mighty Jinn is an anchor for that deck.
I don't use it. When your discord is online I can send you my deck list.
Do Mona deck please
Muna is coming next week!
I have both fond and cursed memories about this event. Good video man, also hey Tim!
Thanks man! I've enjoyed uncovering Retro as a player who has only been in Universus for 2 years.
@malmolian I played from 2012-2018 so this was the tail end for me. I was on Bomb Man for this event and wound up taking 8th
Great video!!! Such a dope idea! Can’t wait to see more!
Thanks! Hopefully I find more nuggets to mine!
Love seeing these decks and hearing about the thoughts behind them. Hope we can keep this going.
I do too! It's been difficult finding deck lists for a lot of older tournaments but I'm hoping some of these champions have kept their past deck lists
This is such an incredibly cool concept for a video series. keep going please!
As long as I can keep finding deck lists and their pilots, this series will keep rolling
kappa as a strong 4 mana card is a good example. but what i always think when playing on curve, is that you empty ur mana instantly and u only have a character in one expetition. meaning, when ur the first player that round, its really bad playing him, cause the enemy has a free turn to just drop a low cost card in the the other expedition and can safe the mana/cards for next round or invest in lategame improvments of the board state. while you only slammed an empty zone with it. but maybe this is the half of the coin which should not be played on curve if you are first player..
It's always going to be fluid when to play out the curve vs holding something back. I do like that about Altered, most TCGs normally you curve out for max efficiency but this game it may not be a good idea for the exact reason you just listed. You burn all your mana, you can't react to your opponent
thx for that great video! :)
Appreciate your videos, they are always helpful! Is there a particular reason for leaving the "Ouroboros Trickster" Rare out? Given that the deck is a bit RNG "heavy", wouldn't this be a good addition? I'm not criticizing, just asking as I'm new to the "Altered" game and TCG's in general and every little bit helps, especially as Lyra is the starter deck I'm using to learn what this is all about! Chris
Fair question. The rare version cost 1 more mana to play from reserve. I don't think it's worth the increase in cost for one more boost. I also value the versatility of playing a 1 cost character from reserve with 1/1/1 or potential 2/2/2 stat line.
@@malmolian Thank you, appreicate the response!
Funnily enough this is the exact same deck i came up with for a 3 of starter deck upgrade. For Nevenka, I think its a mistake to not branch out of the starter deck and use Rare Martengale. Its upsetting that they didnt include it in the starter, but this deck really struggles without it.
I agree 100%. Martingale makes a huge difference. Thought about doing vids about staples to buy that are in the booster for each faction next. Hopefully the official market will be up and running soon.
dude hit me up id love to get some more retro games in. webcam or even TTS
Will keep that in mind. What Universus discords are you active in?
I'm in the main discord, tams, David's and the undeafted at locals discord. The undeafted one is my most active one though.
Deck looks awesome! Let me know if you ever try Trace Eyes or other Echo Attacks, they make AMAZING openers for Akuma2
Thanks man! Akuma is my favorite SF character so I will definitely be playing him, even if it has to be a budget version!
I'd say the base curve for a vanilla card is 111 for 1 mana (ordis trooper). The Jellyfish has a special ability and other 1 mana characters with zeroes in their stats have mostly discard support abilities which give extra value.
I think that will be the competitive base stat line as well but I was giving consideration to the entire card pool since we hadn't had any official tournaments to pull data from for what a playable 1 cost unit was.
Great video that is a topic for many completive card games!
Glad that you think so! What other topics are you interested in when it comes to competitive games?
I like the video, but the sound is VERY low. I had to turn up everything to even hear you. Thanks for the suggestions though =)
Yeah. I recorded this video without the software that I normally use and realized the sound was very low but I got it fixed so when I do these vids, the sound should be up to par. Thanks for watching.
Very interesting topic. Thank you for covering it. I'm not playing competitive but it's nice to know more about this side of the game.
You're welcome! I believe a healthy mindset is the first thing that has to be taken care of in order to get better at any game.
Great video. Keep going! :)
Glad you liked it! More is coming!
I discover you a bit late, but great video! Subscribed, waiting for that podcast!
First episode is going up Monday!
good video!
Glad you liked it! Hope it was helpful!
