We touch on this subject when we discuss why we included blue sink below in the list, but I'll recap: We like to transcend defensively in order to we have all known hand information for the turn cycle as early as possible and obv for hand fixing through sinks. Pitching into the hero power essentially is a 3-value play, sometimes more if you get to keep the spectral shield longer. Choosing to pitch into hero power is contextual, as sometimes you want to sink the chi to find another card (with either better defense or better offense, or if you don't have an over-rate out to your chi such as miragai or 10k instant speed) or pitch the chi for "regular" resources. This hero, at least with this build, is often quite a value-oriented hero even through all the illusionist hoops and shenanigans, so there is always a "value" variable you have to take into account when making decisions.

There are also (even though rare) instances where the +1 counters from the shield would matter and give extra value, where pitching a chi to the Enigma hero power is more worth it and worth more than 3 base value :)

That was the known weakness of this deck, however - Pierre saw 3 Zens and went 0-3 into them. This is discussed in the video, but that was the polarization we had to accept when we brought this deck to Nats.

From Zach: I'll be honest, haven't played teklo at all since mistveil dropped as i don't really view him as a contender for nats rn which has been my focus. I think that nuu is certainly beatable though assassin matchups are always tricky. Mistveil gave us the new evo hat which can get singularity back if its bansihed off the top. Remember nuu banishes actions blocking stealth cards so you cant block with evos that are already equiped or you lose your equipment slot, but that does mean if you block with evos in hand theyll go to banish to be played later. I tihnk with a bit of practice this matchup will wind up feeling ok. Enigma on the other hand seems like a near unbeatable matchup similar to dromai. Theres very little we can do early to prevent her from setting up a board and once she has it we can't really hold on with poppers and hope to get there either since nothing has phantasm. I would consider just sacking that matchup and focusing elsewhere. Again, i haven't actually played any teklo post mistveil so these are just assumptions but hopefully they help! If Prism doesn't high-roll you can fatigue prism. Especially if you build around the ALS loop the chances are even better

Zach here: In the prism matchup, assuming they’re on LaG, you will be taking damage and letting them tutor a bit early in order to get evos set up and they will be able to go into the lock against you pretty reliably, but once there they struggle actually killing you very fast because you have so much equip block you’re allowed to keep large hands to equip another evo as an instant and then gun ALS. If you’re able to continue doing that turn to turn they really can only swing 4 most of the time if they want to maintain the loop. This allows you to dig for one of the three outs in your deck to the loop and once it’s gone you can start going off with 9 overpowers and kill them pretty reliably. Alternatively they also can just run out of cards under loop since you have so much raw block value in deck, though that’s more rare and requires that they rushed the loop before getting a win con on board. Into iris it’s much harder and I’ll have to workshop that a bit more but into LaG prism you should be fine as long as you can stabilize by around 10-13 hp Hope this helps!

Pierre here - I have tried it but I am a bit dubious about the card not always fitting the cost curve. But I’ve been revisiting it and it has good moments. I think it’s a good testing direction for updates to the list!

Pierre here - actually there is no priority window between the end of reaction step and damage step. But you can play it in resolution! The damage wouldn't be counted in that case though.
