    There’s a much better bypass method that eliminates the sidestand, neutral, and clutch lever interlocks. Disconnect both of the wire connectors from the clutch switch, and make a short wiring harness to ground both of those wires. That’s it! Easily reversible. I just leave the ground wires hanging so I can make the mod quickly if I’m out on the trail and the bike quits running or starting. I actually like having the interlocks when they are working. You can just bungie up the sidestand so it won’t bounce down when you hit bumps and jumps.

      Advantages. It gives you a much slimmer seat and slimmer tank. Which allows you to slide up more which tends to help when riding more competitive

    Please don't do this mod (like this). Don't destroy the OEM harness needlessly. All you have to do is use those butt connectors and create a mini harness that plugs into the switch, then it's completely reversible~

    Yes, I've done this mod and it works. The only thing that bothers me is the side stand indicator is permanently on. I suspect I may need to ground the yellow wire to turn it off.

    All directional references are from the position of sitting on the motorcycle in a riding position: - on the right side of the carburetor are two small black drain hose that are taped, banded together. Mine were very cracked, torn so I replaced them with some bulk hose. I'm curious if there is a particular place that the go?

    Getting my kit soon. I think I will try safety wire for hold down instead of zip tie. I think a metal cv axle boot tie from a car might also work.

    Did this on my '98 Honda NX650 Dominator (which doesn't have a sidestand indicator light) But now my headlights dim when I put it in gear and go out almost completely under acceleration. Also my blinkers dont work when the bike is in gear. Where did I go wrong :(

    Great video. I do have a question. On my carb there are two small copper or brass tubes on the intake side of the carb body (very bottom of your video at 4:06) that are clogged with dry crusty debris that I am so far unable to clear. Are they critical to the proper function of the carb and what do they do? Thanks

    Thanks! Sub'ed. Does the XR650L have a clutch safety switch as well? I see wired going in there, but I can start mine without pulling in the clutch.

    my throttle doesnt go all the way back..having that kind of space at the begining I must twist it back with my hand whats the problem?

    • @aloopoffroad2222
      @aloopoffroad2222 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's super important that your throttle returns properly; the entire system needs to be inspected in order to diagnose this issue. We'd recommend starting with the throttle pipe (aka tube) to make sure that there's no dirt, debris, or crash damage between the pipe and the handlebar - even the right side bark buster can interfere with this. If that looks good, check that the cables are properly lubed and functioning correctly (if you have any question about it, just replace them - these are fairly cheap and easily replaceable. Same for the throttle pipe!). From there, go into the carburetor to inspect that the springs, slide, and everything else is installed correctly and in good working order. If you get through all of those steps and are still having issues, contact your local dealer or a qualified, competent mechanic - you do NOT want to mess around with a stuck or sticking throttle!

    • @oh-qn6ht
      @oh-qn6ht 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just experienced this problem on a xr250. turned out the cables were way too tight on both ends at the carb. loosened them up as they need a smidge of dead play and all is good. Ive also experienced a worn out sticky cable on another bike. As well as a broken throttle tube that was allowing the rubber grip to drag and catch on the handlebars.
