Four-time Emmy nominated actor Bob Bergen announced to his parents when he was five he wanted to be Porky Pig. His mother replied, “Honey, you can't be Porky Pig. You're Jewish." Despite this, he was determined. At fourteen he phoned Mel Blanc after researching a dozen or so phone books, crashed a recording session pretending to be Blanc's assistant, and watched the legend in action. Realizing he needed training, and for his voice to change, he began studying voiceover with every vo coach Los Angeles had to offer. Combined with two years at a Meisner acting conservatory and three years of improv study with The Groundlings, he was able to secure an agent at eighteen and pursue his dream.

Probably not. No reason for her to know. She knew who he was from his work but was not a die hard fan. There was no internet back then, and Blanc didn't really promote himself as the Jewish voice actor. And at 5 years old, I had no idea what she even meant as we were not the most observant Jews on the planet.

I heard you were the voice of Lupin the 3rd in the 1995 streamline pictures English dub of Mystery of Mamo and I'll say you are a fantastic Lupin and it sucks that you didn't voice lupin any further and the fact that you voiced porky too is a absolute treat, you have alot of talent sir, thank you for being a wonderful actor

The Three Little Pigs children's book is public domain. Disney's short is not. If WB had used the Disney character design there might be an issue? But I doubt it. Cartoon parody each other/films/tv shows all the time.

I 3000% agree with you, and I think Bob Bergen does a fantastic job as porky pig and he was born to play him and I think Mel Blanc would be extremely proud of him unfortunately it’s a shame he won’t be voicing porky in the Day The Earth blew up a Looney Tunes movie.

Bob i Porky’s best voice actor. No disrespect for Mel but Bob put so much soul into the character and he has so much amazing material. Bob is Porky.
One of the few Looney Tunes characters where the successor voice actor does better than Mel Blanc did, alongside Jim Cummings as Taz and Joe Alaskey as Marvin the Martian.

It’s a shame that I didn’t really get to hear you do any promos for Disney Channel since I wasn’t born yet.
I love how this theme music was virtually identical to the "Live-action" version of the theme. So many cartoon versions of live-action shows had quite different themes (like "The Dukes", Laverne & Shirley, The Fonz and the Happy Days Bunch, for instance). What I wouldn't have given to have 'SCHLEMEIL! SCHLAMAZEL! HASENPFEFFER INCORPORATED!' belted out of that cartoon version of Laverne & Shirley!
