Drum Mower Blade Replacement
Skid disc removed so the visibility should be better than usual. Installing just 2 blades in this video, each drum takes 3 on this model (PC CM 185).

PZ Drum Mower Blade Holder Assembly

Re-attaching the blade holders using the new coach bolts and locking nuts. One of the blade holders needs some welding. Also replacing some bolts which hold the drums to the mower with higher quality ones.
PZ Drum Mower Blade Holder Removal

Removing the blade holders on an old crusty PZ CM 185 Drum Mower. Not easy after 10 years of standing outside!
Very very good video! Thank you we are just stripping one down for the spare parts which has been in a hedgerow for years, the drums are rusted on, rust is the best loctite you can get😢
i have one of these the drum nearest to the tractor wheel has stopped working but the other one is still working so where / what do you think the trouble could be thanks
What happens when you turn the front drum (tractor side) by hand (tractor off obviously)? Does the belt pulley turn or the rear drum? Or none? Then check what happens when you turn the rear drum by hand.
@@Spannerman_ nothing moves when truning the one near to the wheel. second drum turns the belts and pto. theres no noise when i turn the first drum no gratteing or grinding just turns freely
@@orkidknog4147 Souds like something must've broken or sheared off in the drive of the first drum. In any case you'll have to remove the top cover to see what's going on.
How did you get the bottom disc off ? Mine are stuck on even after I got the bolts out
Mine were very rusty but came right off after removing the bolts. Maybe someone applied some kind of sealer on yours.
It looks like the coach bolts were in a square hole so all they should need was pushing up to stop them spinning, after drowning the nut with WD40
That's what I tried first but unfortunately they just turned in the holes.
I have a different mower (Fehr KM22) but I found this very helpful. Wish I could find a manual like yours, with some english in it🙂 Thanks
Glad it was helpful! I think most drum mowers are indeed pretty similar, and I was able to download the PZ one (multi-language) using a simple Google search. Maybe that's a good option for you as well.
hello , please can you describe how you removed the top drive bar please
It's bolted to the drums. Remove the bolts as in 3:02 (in the video they have already been removed).
Your voice is very calming.
Thanks for the video. It gave me a boost needed to replace the bearings on the skid disc of my older? PZ Cm185 that had failed due to the 'skirt' that attaches and positions the disc rusting out. Great to see the machine dismantled before I started on mine. Cheers from NZ
Glad to hear it helped in some way! So you only needed to take the skid disc off, not the entire drum?
@@Spannerman_ The skid disc took itself off when the collapsed lower bearing vibration popped or destroyed the circlip that holds it all on to the shaft. Your images of a dismantled mower make further repairs/maintenance less daunting. However this mower is going back together asap so it can do it's work when these cyclones stop breaking rainfall records during my summer. Thanks again
