    Hi! If I have a credit card with no foreign transaction fees, can I buy any amount from tax free shop and still use the product? Also does it work for the non tax free shops?

    • @jillintokyo
      @jillintokyo หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dianazeng5554 Hello! As far as I know, you can always purchase any amount from tax-free shops (even designer items) regardless of the payment you use, cash or cc, and use the product upon exit or OUT OF JAPAN. As that is the tax free regulations. As for the credit card in non tax-free shops, it depends on the shop. Some shops accept cash only, and most accept credit cards.

    Hi, just found your channel. Since it says more than 5000 yen shopping, is that also mean we can do this multiple time? Within a month visiting? Cause i think i will be shopping more than 1 time and more than 5000 yen in a time. Can anyone adv?

      @jillintokyo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@erikahandayani4589 I think it is safe to say YES, you can do multiple shopping with 5,000¥ or more in each purchases for tax-free. I would also suggest to check if the store you will be shopping at, offers the tax refund or tax-free upon payment. Usually, there are particular counters designated for tax free purchases and don’t forget to bring your passport!

      @@SpoilerofGames That seems to be correct, however, some stores say that it should not include the tax when computing the 5,000¥. I would suggest to ask for their tax free policies before you shop. Some stores have different rules/methods in tax refunds / tax free purchases.

      Usually, self-check out machines in Daiso stores do not have a tax-free processing. You can check the receipt, if 1 item cost 110, then the 10¥ is the additional tax. (Some items in Daiso are more than 100¥ per piece though)

    • @jillintokyo

      My suggestion would be checking it at the store itself before purchasing. Usually, opened items / used products within the country are no longer qualified for tax-free. @jillintokyo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There has been a couple of articles regarding revisions of the Tax-free policies in Japan. One unofficial blog also, mentioned that Apple will not offer tax-free purchases from July of 2023. However, the same items can be bought tax-free from electronics shops in Japan. Nothing official but some policies might have changed already due to weak yen. So before you make your purchase in the apple store, it is better to ask any sales manager regarding the tax-free policy, just to be sure. Feel free to share what happens if you ever pass by the Apple store. It will surely be helpful.

    Hello! For the tax free items that I bought do I have to hand carry it (do the airport personnel check) or can I pack it together with my check-in luggage? I bought some shoes and it’s kind of bulky if im going to hand carry it :(

    • @jillintokyo
      @jillintokyo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As for the customs check of tax-free items when exiting Japan, I have not heard of any inspection just yet. So it can be in any luggage because the airline luggage rule supersedes it. Like for example, if an item cannot be hand carried based on airline / IATF rules.. then that one goes first rather than the tax-free items bought. Well, based on my experience recently, a friend bought like 5 pairs of sneakers all under tax-free and was placed in the check-in luggage. All went well and there was no trouble.

    For those wondering about airport checks on the Tax Free purchases, when you are going through Customs there is a Machine where you scan your Passport, that's pretty much all you have to do. They used to check your passport and take out stappled receipts, but they stopped doing that and even then they didn't checked if you had everything with you, they only took the receipts.

      The discount procedures depend on the shop. My friend bought an ipad on tax free, but she opened it when she got back to her home country. So maybe it is safe to say that you can purchase apple products on tax free. Please do research for updated terms because recently, I have encountered shops with no tax free. Just after Japan has opened, a few shops who used to offer tax free are no longer doing this. So, things might change for apple too.

    Thank you so much for this. i will have my first intercontinental trip of my life in march, going to my GF in Japan, yeee! I have a question about the website, regarding the address where i will stay: the holiday is 14 days long. In the first week i will stay 2 days in Tokyo by my gf's aunt's home, then in a hotel in Kyoto, and then 1 week in gf's home in Asahikawa. I suppose i have just to put in the first address, right? or do i have to give all addresses?🤔Its very important for me doing all good, because this will be the firdt step to move to Japan forever, with marriage, work, Visa, and so on. 🙏🙏🙏

      The address section is just to make sure you have a place to stay and for them to know where to find you just in case of any trouble. People I know only choose to write 1 address. It should be fine.

    Thank you so much, my friend and I plan on visiting later this December, and most of the travel information sites are out of date, or are confusing. This really helped me out.
