Schumacher's 4-Stop Victory | Ferrari's Strategic Masterclass
The 2024 Italian GP was an incredible home victory for Ferrari thanks to a brilliant strategy call but it had been a long time since Ferrari executed a great strategy to win a race, which led me to think, when was actually the last race Ferrari won at the pit wall?
20 years ago, though,the situation was basically the polar opposite. During the golden era built around the trio of Jean Todt, Ross Brawn and Michael Schumacher, not only did Ferrari not allow their rivals to get close to them for many years, but they also made them look like amateurs time and time again. Let’s go back in time and remember the feeling Ferrari evoked back then, both for us fans and the rivalling teams.

A Surprise French Double Podium | Deja Vu from the 1994 German GP?
มุมมอง 950วันที่ผ่านมา
Remember when a French team having a disappointing season scored a double podium with their two French drivers to leapfrog up in the standings? Of course I’m talking about the result Ligier had in 1994! The double podium result of Alpine at the 2024 Sao Paulo GP had many similarities with the underperforming Ligier's surprise result at the 1994 German GP. 🔔 Subscribe for more content like this!...
How a 5-Time F1 Champion Was Kidnapped in Cuba
มุมมอง 2973 หลายเดือนก่อน
In the 4-month long gap between the 1958 season opener in Argentina and the Monaco GP, several F1 drivers attend the second iteration of the Cuban GP, a non-championship race held in the streets of Havana. All eyes are on Juan Manuel Fangio, the 5-time Formula 1 champion who is still going strong well into his 40s, to repeat his win from the previous year. But the race weekend takes an incredib...
What If Alonso Made The 'Right' Career Moves?
มุมมอง 1507 หลายเดือนก่อน
"Alonso has finally made the right career move." This was probably the phrase we all heard most often when talking about F1 in the build-up for the 2023 season. Prior to his switch to Aston Martin, the 2-time world champion had not been able to get the timing right one way or another with his moves for many years. His achievements in Formula 1 are beyond the imagination of most of the drivers o...

    Yes yes i saw it all back then and at the end Frentzen was nowhere, they even threw Damon Hill out at Williams to give HH Frentzen a seat and Villeneuve won the worldtitle. Wendlinger also was a very good driver but it wasn't enough, you need more than just pure talent.

    Lots of guys were faster than Schumacher, he had the best equipment, cheated occasionally and was an arrogant prick. Hakkinen sorted him out plenty of times.

    From his generation? Senna, Prost, Hakkinen, and Alonso are faster than Schumacher.

    • @mattjc1021
      @mattjc1021 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Senna and Alonso probably. Dunno about Prost and Hakkinen. Hakkinen was very fast but sometimes lacked 100% commitment. Alonso was an angry abrasive personality back in the day, in a way he’s only got himself to blame for ‘only’ two titles. Prost was the most methodical but all round slower than anyone else mentioned.

    • @rezzaakbar7236
      @rezzaakbar7236 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mattjc1021 Yeah, you're right. Besides Senna and Alonso, actually Prost and Hakkinen are equal to Schumacher. However, with the same car, I still pick Prost over Schumacher because of his methodical approach. And don't forget one thing, among these names I think Prost is the most consistent above anyone else. Hakkinen, well, I don't think Hakkinen is faster than Schumacher week in week out. But, the peak Hakkinen vs peak Schumacher with the same car in one race, Hakkinen for me.

    • @mattjc1021
      @mattjc1021 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rezzaakbar7236 I love Mika, he was my favourite driver as a kid. But to be honest he let the 2000 title slip when McLaren had the better car and in 2001 the car was also good but after his crash in Melbourne and stalling on the grid in Brazil he lost all motivation. He only beat Schumacher legit in one year out of having potentially the best car for four years. He was very fast when he wanted to be but ultimately I wouldn’t say in equal cars he would beat Schumacher over the course of a year. Maybe in about 1/3 of the races I would think and depending on the track. We were robbed of a proper Senna Schumacher battle, it would’ve been epic given how ruthless they both were. Alonso is another interesting comparison. By the time he came along to compete for wins and titles Schumacher was on the way down. If Alonso was ten years older and he showed up early 90s, I actually don’t know who would win. Not as much peak speed over one lap but a great wheel to wheel racer and very few mistakes over the course of a race, plus great ability to develop a car because his feedback to engineers has always been talked about. I think one of the reasons why Adrian Newey chose Aston Martin was because he’s far more likely to have quicker success working with Alonso than say Hamilton at Ferrari, because conversely it’s also known that Lewis does not provide useable feedback to engineers and this is amplified if the car is bad.

    Frentzen also had nightmares about Patrick Head while he was driving at Williams, apparently Heinz got an almighty bollocking from Patrick early in his time at Williams and it affected him that badly that for the rest of his time there whenever Patrick wasn't happy Heinz was nowhere to be seen.
