McKenny and Mary barely escaped an authoritarian regime. A message?
Mind numbingly long and boring rambling. If you want the detailed description of a manufacturing process or the planetary elliptical orbit dynamics- this book is for you. I quit on 2:12:20 Best of luck !🏁
People focus on Dougal. He was the focus of this book. People like him were the problem. Not only the problem of Prince Samuels world but the empire as well.

Thanks for this. I have not visited Vonnegut in many years. This was absolutely delightful.

From time to time I dip into West of Honour. John Christian Falkenberg is a great character. And I loved the first few books Jerry did with Larry Niven were fantastic. Lucifers Hamner and Footfall.
Footfall was such a fun alien species.

PURE GENIUS - even if Kilgore Trout doesn't care.
Truly a Bodhisattva - the premise of a time quake awes me every time i reread this magical book - we are not worthy of such greatness - and yet here it is for everyone
Love kurt
Starts at 9:00.
I bet this method of launching a ship into to orbit was once actually considered viable but I can't seem to find anything about it online.

Read Footfall by Niven for another example.
Another critical voice in the high art of ethics. The sort of person who should be president. Artists are worth 100 scientists each.
Artists? They are useless in the real world. You communist fuck face.
Adiose mr morose no time to listen to your depressin' bellyachin'
Splendid narration - the voice of a superhero.
When. Does. It. Start!?!??
It starts at the beginning. Try again.
It's Vonnegut's style to mix fiction and non-fiction. I'm not sure how much of it would be considered 'meta' but he doesn't know the meaning of a fourth wall.

Why not subtitles?

I had the honor of meeting him a few times. He was a unique man and no doubt.
King David? Wow… How’d you manage that?
What a beautiful requiem.. and self written
Does anyone the name of the intro music. I’ve been after it for ages.
It's called Journey's End by Martin Pritchard
@@jonshepherd2550 Thank you so much. 🙏🏻
@@gdwscott sorry the full name is Paul Martin Pritchard

i feel like we're living in a time-quake right now. Maybe just me :( 4:16:52 "any dream of taking better care of our people might as well be a transvestite hermaphrodite without some scheme for giving us all the support and companionship of extended families within which sharing and compassion are more plausible than in an enormous nation" I'd bet anything there are at least a handful of people today saying they're both hermaphrodite and transvestite SIMULTANEOUSLY.
I just love Vonnegut. My favorite writer’s voice of them all.
Beautiful book, beautiful man. "I'm a philosopher. I have to be." Truer words....
9:23
Great narration, same guy who narrates Thomas Sowell 🙄??

I think you have no free will during a rerun is because your flesh does not recognize the entity as self. And there fore sticks it with the rest of ghosts, musicians, actors , authors, sadists, charlatans and federal agents using the flesh of your brain for usually for imperialist activity. Boom spectator in your own head. Or it may be the other occupants well your time traveling ads to religion or the military. Its not that you can't its just that the other occupants in your previous selves head wish to make you their bitch.
Are you on drugs? Nothing you wrote makes any sense. Maybe a 30 day recovery program is something you should consider. Or a good mental health counselor.

Such a clever story. Great universe, too. The Mote in God's Eye by Larry Niven
Fantastic book, I never read this one before for some reason. It's such a relief to list3en to an author with an ironic sense of humor in this era of phony optimism and self-proclaimed "winners" who are at least as miserable as everybody else.
