I have a 2.5hp for 7 years and still running great! Just bought another 5.0 hp outboard runs on propane ( Mercury) and loved it. As long as you take good care and maintain oil levels change spark plugs if needed. It'll last for a long time!

Bought this. Used it 5 times and then hard line cracked because they dont make it stationary to the housing so when you twist the green can it break the line. Terrible design. They wouldnt help until I put the guy on the spot at a tradeshow in front of a bunch of prospective customers. LEHR is a horrible company. Avoid em.

Is Lehr still in business? I need a propane line for my trimmer. It started leaking today. Otherwise it's a great product that works perfectly. I can't find a source for parts though.

The one HUGE problem I see, or question. you can buy gas/fuel at any marina/gas station. how many marina's carry propane???

How do you remove the throttle cable from the needle assembly body thing

As in business LEHR was never about the customer so since they have gone out of business the only thing you can find out is. The 5HP is a Yamaha and the fuel system is a system from a company in China that no one knows anything about.

I came here annoyed, ready to go through the whole video and still having no answer... Had the kill switch disconnected....

MINE WON’T START IT HAS SPARK . I CAN HEAR IT FIRE BUT IT WON’T START? WHAT ELSE CAN I DO.

I loved mine, but the pull start broke last season, I haven't been able tpo find a replacement

Other possible reason, low oil. My motor leaked most of the oil out, and I didn't know, went to start, would not run for more then 15sec tops. Check oil, filled and bamm back running, great motor have had one 10 yrs !

Thanks for the video, troubleshooting video was helpful. I was concerned with my secondhand purchase, but after a few hours of engine operation and multiple stop starts, I have gained an understanding of how to get it fired up within the first couple pulls. I find the engine to be flawless and easy to start so far. Throttle adjustment works when cold, priming works when starting up for the first time during the day. I turn off the tank after flushing cooling system (marine use) because of extended storage so the primer is a lifesaver. Many thanks and all due respect!

I bought my lehr propane trimmer back in 2012 and it still runs and starts like it did when I first got it. Best investment in a trimmer ever. I wish all small engine yard equipment manufactures would start giving the option of Propane or Gasoline.

Hi own one of these for several yrs now AND I LOVE IT !! the benefits of propane far out weigh regular gas power , The oil stays cleaner for a very long time ,starts right up great power I am dealing with replacing the short fuel line hose to repair for a leak but after many yrs , its a minor repair I wish all my lawn and garden equipment was powered by propane , I am a 40yr master auto tech and I know motors go propane and you wont go back !!

Going to need more than a troubleshooting video if you buy LEHR. Motor came broken out of the box. Shroud clamps sheared off. Rick sent new ones only after I put a sales guy on the spot at a trade show in front of several prospective customers. Good on him. However, it’s never fun to have to take a saw and drill your brand new motor that’s overpriced. Oh...and their clips still didn’t work. Then upon using it for the 10th time ever the propane line cracked at the custom two way fitting and luckily we caught it or could have caused serious injury to us or the boat. Seems like a consumer protection suit waiting to happen. LEHR has been responsive-ish to send parts, but who wants to spend several hours repairing something that is brand new and costs a significant premium to other options? You would think for the cost the design would be a bit more thoughtful, but after being forced to tear into this engine several times we spotted obvious design flaws that could be easily corrected. It appears to just be lazy or incompetent engineering. Or maybe they’re just riding the eco/green wave for profit until it burns out which appears to be soon because every local Seattle boat store has dropped them. Anything short of a full replacement or refund at this point is the only thing that will prevent me bringing a megaphone and telling everyone to avoid LEHR like the plague at the next vendor show.

I've had my lehr trimmer for 3 year's and I absolutely love it ! The Subaru 4 stroke engine is truly amazing , the quality of this trimmer is as good or better than my stihl or echo any day and I never have to mess around rebuilding carburetors or replacing fuel lines , my days of messing with ethanol are over ! I'm very happy with my new lehr propane trimmer !!!!

it's a record for lehr, their engine don't usually make it that many miles without a breakdown. mine is in the shop for a 4th time. month in the shop , day on the boat, then back to the shop.

Much as I'd like to embrace the product there is to much information MISSING to call it a record of any kind. The only thing I know for sure is that the motor lasted almost 22 NM. So what does THAT mean? Then the engine disintegrated??? What does ALMOST 2 gallons mean???? How does it compare to a gas motor? Or electric? This test scares me and the people doing the testing scare me. I think Tom Martinez (below) nailed it. Also honorable mention to Ter Roth - WHERES THE FRICKING PFD??? Like I said, they scare me.

What kind of motor does the engine use?

I bought the 5 hp short shaft, it ran for 1/2 hr approx the died off to the Lehr recommended shop for 2+ weeks. Got it back ran for approx 15 minites and died of to a different Lehr recommended shop. Got it back ran for 5 min and died. It now sits in my garage waiting on the dealer to dispute with my credit card company as they told me that if I send it back in original container 25% restock if I send it back in different container 45%. The dealer and Lehr refuse to help me out. Lehr will no longer answer my e-mails or phone calls.

I bought the 5 hp short shaft. It ran 1/2 hr then died and off to the shop for 2 plus weeks. got it back and ran for 15 min and off to the shop for another week. Just got it back and no I am tired of rowing this darn thing back to shore so I ran it in a bucket of water for 10 min then shut it off. Low and behold it would not start again after 30 some pulls. No one not the dealer I bought it from nor Lehr wants to take this unit back. The dealer I bought it from now wants me to trade it in for a different brand and of course there will be an "up charge" even though this is an expensive brand new motor.

I would call that a record, mine ran for 1/2 hr then to the shop for 2 weeks 15 min then off to the shop for 2 to 3 weeks. I wonder how long it will run when I get it back. If you buy one make sure you bring oars with you, you will need them.

Notice that the clip was very short. My brand new Lehr ran for 1/2 hr and spent 2 weeks at the dealer and ran for 15 min and now will spend 2 to 3 weeks at the dealer. I would not recommend anyone buying one unless they want a glorified boat anchor

Is there a place to shop for one in SoCal? And man! How long was that boat? Did not think a boat like that could make it to Catalina island. That was sweet.

you could just ring or email H/office or parts dept & sure to be kit or adapter for it they usually sort those things out during R&D stages but may have just never got mentioned to site developers or they just thourt folk would ask them direct not good but happens all the time

Amazing will run smother last longer & of course more fuel efficient less maintenance also Freaky I just saw this in July Pop- science mag 2 days ago this will sell like hot cakes in some places I may even become an Agent for them as I travel & Fish o/seas a lot
