Oh, this is a story. I thought this was one of those videos by over excited “scientists” talking about how we could finally discover the existence of life on other planets with this new discovery.

wish the story line was better put together.

This reminds me of both Bradbury's "Dark They were and Golden Eyed," and Le Guin's "Vaster than Empires and more Slow." But it lacks the poetry of either of those. I see some influence of Van Vogt's "The Village" as well.
