Welcome to The World Beyond 7.121! On this channel we'll discuss some of my favorite topics in amateur radio. What does the strange channel name mean? Well, when I first came into the hobby as WN9QVR in 1974, I owned a venerable Drake 2-C receiver with a matching 2-NT transmitter which had only one crystal - for 7.121 MHz. For quite awhile I was restricted to a single mode (CW) on that single frequency with a single antenna. Although I look back on those days with some affection, in the intervening years I've learned a lot (and am still learning!) about amateur radio and am happy to share some of that knowledge - and learn from you as well - about the expansive amateur radio world beyond 7.121!

The 'Convertible' Antenna!
Look! Up in the sky! It's a doublet! It's an extended double Zepp! It's a loop! No - it's the convertible antenna!
New year - new 'tenna! Well, sort of. :)
Here's an antenna that can be easily changed into whatever design you want it to be!

Touring the Warrick County RACES/ARES Auxcomm Trailer
มุมมอง 3.4K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We talk to Steve K9SRC about the background and current capabilities of and future plans for the Warrick County Indiana RACES/ARES communications trailer. It is a project which can help provide assistance with emergency communications while also being a platform for some amateur radio fun! It might be said that projects of this type come under the heading of "if you build it they will ham". :)
NR6O got your callsign wrong 😑
Outstanding. Thanks for documenting your trailer AND thinking processes. We are in the beginnings of an effort now, and your information is extremely valuable. Tom Talley W5XTT Grimes Co., Texas ARES
Nice walkthrough, learned some good things for a future emcomm trailer.
I thought that callsign of yours sounded familiar. I just ran across your channel Brian.... Its Barry KY4K. Good to see you again!!
Great work in Evansville all the time.
Does the world map display all QSOs in the log if selected?
THANK YOU👍
Great video. Thank you!
Should be great on an portable activation.
Only a box of stuff? My garage is mainly stacked with antenna stuff....
I use lots of waterproofing tape too!
:)
Some great ideas, but I'm surprised you don't have an antenna analyzer or NanoVNA in your antenna box.
Thanks for the feedback, Michael. I actually do have an older MFJ analyzer (I'll be replacing it soon with a newer device) that I often use in the field. For the purposes of this video, though, my list was primarily just items that might be needed to physically build and erect an antenna and wasn't necessarily meant to be all-inclusive. Certainly an analyzer can be very helpful depending upon the type of antenna being constructed. Perhaps I'll create a follow-up video with some additional items (it could possibly even be a case of a sequel being better than the original :) ). Thanks again for watching and for the suggestion!
Good Video and with a little humor👍
Great going guys n gals . We had a blast and bought n sold lots of ham goodies. See you in 22
