For this exercise a piece of bamboo is suspended by paper strips that are hung on upward-facing knife blades. A bokken (wooden sword) is used to cut the bamboo without disturbing the paper. This is an exercise that Koichi Tohei Sensei would teach occasionally in Japan. This was part of our Kagami Biraki celebration.
