They ruined the song by blowing it on the start of the series. That made me safer than the song. The series made me angry. I watch the original cartoon every year when I feel down or need fluff.

The gaming industry sucks now is the real problem. They pump out over priced trash, or they ruining franchises we love pumping them full of brain rot and activism. But i was completely over video games for a long while, it was actually VR that got me back into gaming.

While I do agree that the industry at large has changed (in a somewhat negative way), I do think that there are plenty of fantastic games that are still made. They're just bigger and take more time to create. For better or worse, that's the reality. Regardless, I do appreciate you taking the time to share and watch the video!

When I realised I wasn't having as much fun with games. I just stopped playing. I don't quite know why people find that so hard to do. Games were always a huge part of my childhood, but it's not been that difficult to let go. I still play and enjoy many older games, the late mid 90's/mid 2000's era games were the best ones to me. But a lot of new stuff I just don't play anymore, and a lot of proper old school games I just don't play. Games have always been kinda terrible, I don't care if it's retro or not. But the ones I legitimately enjoy are generally the PS1/PS2 era ones. Same for PC games of that time. Speaking of Elder Scrolls, I'm back to playing Daggerfall hah. My favourite. And I played it before I found out about Daggerfall Unity. When it comes to PVP games, I haven't played too many. Tried a few COD's, some battle royales. Indifferent, I lost, was so bad at them, couldn't get angry because I just did not care. Except for APB, that got under my skin.....but the others, nah. I barely ever won and I only played because I thought I'd give those types of games a chance, and I was playing with friends, but even they couldn't save them.

Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective! It’s all about finding what brings you joy in gaming. Sometimes, stepping back helps you appreciate the classics even more. I think people struggle to do that because of how strong the desire is for people to cling on to comfort. People will stay in terrible situations because they fear the unknown, even if the unknown has the potential to be better. While I've not played Daggerfall, my understanding is that it's a great choice; a timeless gem!

Sure I am having the same troubles as you in having no fun while playing games but I think I'm decade older than you so when I remember the good old time it was more like Super Mario Bros 1 2 and 3 or my super hype when i played WoW. Today I keep on playing similar games as I played when I was 10 ish on my parents windows 95 machine playing Red Alert. Today I play Strategy games or building/resource management games I don't really like games any longer and I never last in them. I don't enjoy movies or TV shows any longer so today I enjoy going outside or binging books I even started playing Bridge which is awesome. Hobbies come and go I even still play some of the games I enjoyed while I was younger like Seven Kingdoms 2 Frythan Wars which I still play from time to time.

For me, I don't see a lot of hope in the future. So my brain longed to return to the past and relive those feelings of joy that games brought to me. I had the same identical feel once i quit league bc of the same reason i didnt had fun anymore and i was struggling bc i needed that "Dopamine rush" that League could give you, i tried so many "new" competitive games, but i was never happy by playing them, the feeling of me that couldn't reach the performance i had when i was a teen where all my time could just sink into gaming, was crushing me, so i strayed away from gaming, any game i played felt like hollow, with no flavour or taste of any kind. I keep trying to play pvp games with some friends, but all of the games we play have the same issues, the old stagnated player base that didn't refresh in the and didn't change in the years, the players that are tryharding and sweating in any moment in any possible way troughout the game, there is no more "fun" in those games in the whole community, everyone want to hit some TikTok clip and that's all that matters in those games rn, that was the issue tbh not the fact that the games were not fun to play anymore, but the player base is different and that's why I found myself quitting competitive games. Yet quitting competitive games bringed back the fun i had when i was younger, the emotion an thrill of exploring a new rpg game world, or idk trying to complete a storyline of a rogue like as hades, or hunting on the in RDR2, all those things bringed back the fun i had when I was 7 playing Jak & Daxter: Precursor Legacy on my ps2.

It seems to be a common reality among gamers. I think it has a bit less to do with the PvP aspect itself, and far more to do with there being an imbalance between the genres. For myself, I had a few years where I couldn't focus on many games. I would jump on and off to Overwatch 2 for a few weeks, and try to play single player stuff, but I would always end up playing for less than 1 hour whilst my thoughts kept going to what else I could be playing. Then I would stop and not put anything else on. For me a big part came from having PS Plus Premium and Game Pass Ultimate. I simply had too many games to choose from. When I cancelled both of those and took some time away to paint Warhammer models, I slowly found my interest return to just play games I owned. I am now really enjoying gaming again, and using backward compatibility to go back to older games that I really enjoyed at their launch

If anything, the one great thing the live action series did well was expanding on certain points of the series, on top of being great at spectacle. This was one such moment. Another was learning that the crew of his ship was the very platoon of soldiers he spoke out of turn to protect. This show had a lot of high points, despite it's flaws.

Yeah nowadays there just isn't that big of a variety for social multiplayer games anymore and I'm not sure why. Just about every game tries to be a single player game which I do love single player games but I wish there were more options for multiplayer games besides: Open World Survival Crafting games, FPS games, MOBAs, MMOs (subscription req), and Battle Royal games. There's been some unique gems like Helldivers 2 but games like that are few and far between. I'm with you, I miss the variety of social gaming. Me and my friends would hop on Halo 3 for a bit, then swap over to CoD 4/MW2, then maybe go play some random shit like Banjo Kazooie N&B on the 360 or go play UNO on the 360 as well or some other game. AAA games in general just had more variety and charm to them. Nowadays just about all AAA feels "same-y." What you get from one game isn't going to be that much different than another AAA game in the same genre or hell in general a lot of the time. I can go play R6 or Valorant and yes while they aren't the same type or style of game I don't look at both of those games and feel like I want to play both. Either I want to invest my time into one or the other. However with games like CoD4/MW2 and Halo 3 and other fun whacky games it felt like you could actually have a variety of games your friend group plays. Nowadays it's like every friend group plays 1 game, maybe 2 max. It's usually a League group, a Valorant group, an MMO group, a Warzone/Fortnite/Apex group, etc. I miss those days of social gaming where it felt like you could hop from one amazing gaming experience to an entirely different one. I don't think I'm alone in this at all either. I'm sure just about everyone experiences this. You ask your friend group if anyone wants to play any game that isn't the group's 1-2 "main games" and they will typically say nah pass. Part of that might be people being older but I don't really think that's much of a factor. I think AAA games just aren't delivering any real unique variety of games and indie games, while I do love them and they are the majority of my gaming nowadays, aren't very good with multiplayer variety either. Most indie multiplayer games are a few party games and open world survival crafting games. Also the removal of party/lobby chats in damn near every multiplayer game has ruined the last remaining bit of social gaming. You can't laugh with your team about a funny moment where you all get blown up by a grenade or a tank. You can't shit talk the enemy team or a teammate in post game lobby chat. Gaming as a whole has gotten less social and more feeling like you're on a treadmill queuing from match to match.

I'm Gen Z (born in 2006). I did enjoy older games and even relatively new ones like the MCC but given that modern gaming feels soulless without interaction (I remember being in chst with some folks in a CoDM lobby and it was somewhat enjoyable) I think it's about time we bring back social gaming to ease it a bit.

I remember the Wii release, but instead of being some hyper competitive grumpfest, we had organized ourselves into something more free form and chill. We had a big ole sheet of paper with a list of everyone, in order of when they arrived. You could leave for a few minutes by signing out when you left and signing back in, and I bought a little TV, and brought my Xbox 360. Whole night we were playing Guitar Hero and Gears of War and just vibing out together in the cold ass Garden Center lol

100% I think that can be partially tied to the changes in social dynamics as we get older. As a kid, everyone around you is, for all intents and purposes, celebrating the same milestones that you are because you're all in the same stage of life. Finding other people as an adult that are in a similar stage of life as you, and not only that, but also have enough time to spend developing that connection with you is a far more intentional and difficult process than it is when you're a kid. During Halo: CE, it felt like this nerdy niche that'd blow some of my friends' minds, during 3 and Reach, it REALLY exploded. Online was big during those, but we still played local all the time even when we did go into matchmaking, held onto my old tv just for that... I agree we gotta try to salvage it. Find good (usually smaller) content creators and their communities. Harder than ever to get people you know irl into the same stuff unless it's Fortnite or something, this is part a sign of the times and part simply what comes with our age. Online though, our reach to find people who share our passions has increased, especially if you like games like the Bungie Halo games, most people who stuck around truly care. I seriously appreciate that as someone who was always by far the biggest Halo nerd, nowadays it's so easy to find people who will gladly take part in elaborate conversations, so many people out there just as desperate to find like-minded people to play or just share stuff with too. Try to play into what's so much more practical nowadays thx to things we could've only dreamed of like the Steam Deck (etc.), it's like a gameboy that plays PC GAMES, handheld Halo would've been MASSIVE back in the day. Flipside of finding like-minded nerds online is you still wanna try to be open to the games other people you actually know play locally, sadly that usually does involve buying a 2nd copy of a game, but small price if you can easily afford it and get to relive a bit of those glory days of gaming. We're truly lucky to have had that overlap between our own young age and that particular age of gaming, both such short periods to line up. We're also lucky that, even if today's age has massive problems, it's still so reasonable to retrieve a lot of those aspects and go beyond in ways that, at least I, always dreamed of back then.

They're experiences that stick with us for life! I'm in the early stages of planning a LAN party with high school friends for the first time in about 8 years!

Ngl, but i don't feel that streamers are the same thing as the old LAN days. True, if you want to stream to have fun is one thing, but most of the streamers are either tryhards, forcing everyone to follow a meta build or the other players won't progress otherwise; "entertainers" that just troll and grief servers or just plain hackers, and all of them just do it to farm views on YT shorts or twitch. Streaming became a job and took all the fun of playing online.

It's totally okay if we disagree on that. I'm speaking to my personal experience, and I totally get that not everyone is gonna have the same path as I have. I just wanted to share my thoughts and feelings on the topic! Regardless, I appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts!

Another great commentary. Halo 2 was mine and my friend's game of choice back in the day. Boy, I would love to go back to those sweaty nights where time felt endless

Same, it was a whole different feel honestly. Sometimes it's nostalgia but it's actually not the same

Older games from like 2013 and earlier were objectively better. The PS4 generation and now the PS5 generation have not innovated much at all. The PS4 introduced games with bigger worlds that were more detailed. The PS5 allows Rift Apart to exist. But at the end of the day, those games don't end up playing better. I enjoy playing the original Ratchet & Clank Trilogy more still, I think COD Black Ops 2 was peak COD, and Battlefield hasn't improved since BF3. There's still great games from the PS4 generation to now like Red Dead 2 or Elden Ring, but they could have existed on PS3, in fact they did in the forms of Red Dead 1 and Dark Souls, the changes to RDR2 and Elden Ring could still have been done on a PS3. Games since 2014 or so have been ONLY about money and not at all about passion or the art. Literally only Elden Ring, Balder's Gate 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 were made to just be good games and ignore modern trends. I miss when games were fun from the disc, DLC was reasonably priced and worth it and even exciting, and when microtransactions were actually micro and not macro. The cheapest microtransactions are like a quarter of the game's full price nowadays.

While I wouldn't agree that ALL games post 2014 have become about money, the trends for the ones that lead the industry certainly have. It's an unfortunate reality, but it's one that we have to deal with. Regardless, thanks for taking the time to watch and share your thoughts! I appreciate it!
