"Well, I never did crawl and I never did toe the line
No man is master to me, I ain't that kind
I just put on my travelin' shoes
If you wanna win, you just can't lose the time
Or stay behind
Well, I was born to run
To get ahead of the rest
And all that I wanted was to be the best
Just to feel free and be someone
I was born to be fast, I was born to run
Well I take the chances, sometimes I made mistakes
But you don't get nothin' unless you take the breaks
Livin' as dangerous as dynamite
Sure it makes you feel nervous but it makes you feel alright
Makes you feel alright
Well, I was born to run
To get ahead of the rest
And all that I wanted was to be the best
Just to feel free and be someone
I was born to be fast, I was born to run
Nobody gonna make me do the things their way
By the time you figure it out, it's yesterday
Well, it comes to he who waits, I'm told
But I don't need it when I'm old and gray
Yeah, I want it today
Well, I was born to run
To get ahead of the rest
And all that I wanted was to be the best
Just to feel free and be someone
I was born to be fast I was born to run
I was born to run
To get ahead of the rest
And all that I wanted was to be the best
Just to feel free and be someone
I was born to be fast I was born to run"

Fly Fishing Alberta Creeks and Rivers
มุมมอง 132 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Fly fishing isn't about the act of catching and releasing fish. That's a bonus and comes secondary. It's about standing in that river and being at peace. It's as simple as that.
Lake of the Falls
มุมมอง 719 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” Gandalf Normally people access Lake of the Falls hiking west from the Cline River in a multi-day trip. It's doable in two days or more relaxing in three, especially if you want to spend time at Landslide Lake too. However, you can also do this advanced route to Lake of the Falls going north from Highway 11 starting inside Ban...

Mount Assiniboine in Summer

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit than a secure future. The basic core of a person’s living spirit is passion for adven...

Cruising the Mediterranean
มุมมอง 46วันที่ผ่านมา
This was my second trip to the Mediterranean. I find it’s a culturally rich area. Greece and Italy have amazing food. The people are incredibly friendly in Turkey and Croatia. Spain and Montenegro were the new countries for me. My favourite ports were Nafplio, Dubrovnik, and Santorini. I’ll give honourable mentions to Mykonos, Pompeii, Pisa, Florence, and Palma de Mallorca. The trip was from Oc...
Fly Fishing for Cutthroat Trout
มุมมอง 12821 วันที่ผ่านมา
One of the biggest highs I’ve experienced is fly fishing when there is a hatch on. Making a perfect cast then watching them take your dry fly with the first tug screaming line out is insanely addictive. This lake was a grind to carry my belly boat to, but that makes it even more worth it when you catch and release over 50 pounds of trout. That afternoon I experienced two new things. In the firs...
Lake O'Hara in Fall

One of the things I love about the Rockies is that the experience is different every time depending on the season and the weather. This was the same location and same closing weekend as one of my other videos (i.e. last weekend of September / first weekend of October), yet in this one we woke up to a few inches of snow, whereas two years earlier we were still in shorts and t-shirts.

What about bacon and eggs breakfast? Coffee and Baileys pick me up? Pancakes and whip cream second breakfast? Cookies and trail mix elevensies? Roast beef sandwich luncheon? Peppermint afternoon tea? Charcuterie board pre-dinner? Crisp apple cider aperitifs? Beef tenderloin supper? Strawberry cheesecake dessert? Fireball digestifs? Surely you know about those in the Big Rock Candy Mountains?

It has been remarked by some that fly fishers’ only real passion is for catching and releasing fish. This is a rather unfair observation as we have also developed a keen interest in the overnight hiking to said fish and the drinking of crisp apple cider. But where our hearts truly lie is in peace and quiet and good tilled earth. For all fly fishers share a love of all things that grow. And yes,...

To bad about the bridge. Hopefully it's replaced or repaired for the coming summer. Hoping to do the loop. How were the bugs mid July?
I'm not going to lie, the bugs were pretty bad haha. It was the first time I had a minor allergic reaction.

those streamers. yikes!
Great video! How long ago was this recorded? I am curious if there is still enough water to do a multi day canoe trip to the Brazeau dam in the coming week.
That was on July 2 and 3. Flows were quite high at the time and about as high as I've seen the Blackstone. I would think you'd need higher water for a canoe. The first time I did the Blackstone I tore a 6 foot hole in an inflatable Sevylor Colorado kayak because I hit rocks at lower flows. Somebody from my kayak club did the Blackstone with a canoe the next weekend and said it was too low. I've only gone between the Trunk Road bridges. There would be more water after the Brazeau joins though. So that's a tough call. Overall, I'd recommend the Blackstone at above average flows!
Awesome Video!
it is cool when you can net them both.
Tried with a canoe starting at FTR a few years back; definitely a shallow but beautiful run.
Dang, that's a really impressive looking grizzly, great footage
Thanks! Yeah, it was great to see a very healthy looking grizzly. It made me smile!
399 G Great mix music , i like to watch otis at the falls salmon fishing Grizzly's. Yours are great also. How do you relate the audio when 250ft away? THANKS
Actually, I was less than 50ft away. I paid $100 for the camera about 10 years ago, so the camera is not very good and was hardly zoomed at all. I'm not sure what you are asking regarding the audio. My camera recorded the wind sound and I left that in. The song might appeal to some people and not others.
I really need to get up to Banff one of these days. Great adventure, thanks for sharing!
Beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing
Old Mumford & Sons! That’s some cool Geography. Hopefully we can do something like Maligne lake again next summer!
I thought about using Hopeless Wanderer although it was a bit too intense.
Matthew Morrison 🤔 yeah that might have been a little distracting 😂.
awesome video keep it up!!
Thanks! I appreciate that.
that would be quite a trip!
Nice music and beautiful blue water!! What a nice catch. Keep it up! Sub from me!
Thank you!
Right on man, that river looks great. Pretty ballsy in an open kayak, well done. Is this the run described in Mark Lund's book? Thanks very much.
Thanks Nick! I haven’t looked at the book you mentioned, but I showed the bridge I started at the beginning and I got out at the Forestry Trunk Road bridge. It took about 2.5 hours. There is more and more water as you get closer to the Brazeau Dam as the various creeks join it. Yes, I can’t really recommend taking a cheap open Costco kayak like I did haha! The main issue is you take on a lot of water and then your balance goes way down, which is why I flipped twice. I also had to drain it several times. A few years ago, I took an inflatable kayak from the bridge before to the bridge I started at, but to do that stretch you need high water. I tore a large hole in the kayak that trip! Here is a video of Michael going down it during high water in spring: th-cam.com/video/lLvexis0hsU/w-d-xo.html
Hey, thanks for the reply. I hope to paddle down there next summer. I don't know much about kayaks, but you could probably find a good used WW kayak for a decent price... maybe?? Yeah I've been watching Michael for a few years now, he has come a long way, very impressive. Thanks again, take care.
nice video

Very nice. I love that section of river, lots of wood though. I hope the fishing was good.
