I actually disagree with George on this. Once a song is played on the radio or wherever its value is based on listens! I think artists should get paid for the use of their music but, well hers an example: I build ford cars, I don’t get to say who buys them / drives them other than setting a criteria that they can pay for the vehicle. Musicians saying Trump can’t use my song at a rally are like a chef who says “oh, I don’t like black people so they can’t eat my food.

The Beatles didn't sell jack shit. They just didn't know the business well enough to pursue ownership of their work at the beginning.

That's not what happened. It's complicated. They formed a partnership between a music publisher, Lennon and McCartney and Brian Epstein. The company latter became public. But John and Paul ended up as minority owners leading them to latter create Apple going forward creating it's own saga with Allen Klein. An Australian Businessman ended up with control of the company later and soon put it up for sale. Paul said it was too much money and Yoko did not do anything. Michael Jackson and his partners made the bid for controlling interest and took over. Then that merged with Sony. Jackson had a lot of leverage at the time and had to renegotiate with Sony who ended up with it a part of the Jackson estate. Paul eventually bought it back from Sony. That's still probably leaving out half the story. George's songs were published through the original company as well.

For the bulk of the last 60 years the Beatles didn't own any of their own Beatles music so they had no say about how their music was used at the time of this interview. That may be starting to change now due to Paul pursuing the ownership rights to the Beatles' music, but he has done so on behalf of himself and the other 3 parties (Ringo, Yoko, and George Harrison's wife). Not just for himself.

When Michael Jackson bought fhe rights to The Beatles songs (the Northern Songs bhnch of 'em) some of their songs did appear in commercials. Iirc Sony Publishing (or whatever that company's called) owns those rights.

Why are people commenting that its bad on Paul's part to talk like this when George is not alive to respond.? Don't they realize that this interview was taken when George was alive. George's fans just want to find ways to denigrate Paul in every way they can even if its uncalled for.

The second to last photo was in Mackets Lane, Halewood, Liverpool where the Harrison’s moved to from Speke. I grew up close by, and as kids we would regularly ride round on our bikes after school to see if he was in. We got to see him when he was 21 as he came up from London to see his parents. There’s a few photos of the ton of mail being delivered outside. His mum often invited fans in for a cup of tea and a chat especially if they had mail for him or presents etc. She was really kind. Eventually it became overwhelming, and George bought them a house near Warrington, about 15 miles away, for some peace and quiet in retirement!
