Dance Teachers Academy Ep 74 How He Got To "God & Salsa"
On this episode of Dance Teachers Academy Enio Cordoba describes forty years of achievements in Ballroom, Latin,Swing and Salsa dancing!
His mastery of teaching allowed him to create the largest studio and classes in Los Angeles for 18 years before he created Los Angeles' most popular Salsa club- The Granada.
At the beginning, Enio started at USC captain of the US Champion Latin Formation Team and British Open runners up. Within 4 years, he had won the US Amateur Latin Championship and won the amateur World Cup.
Within 2 years of turning professional he had made the top 24 in both the Rising Star and Open Pro Latin at the British Open.
In the early 1990s, Enio won 3 Feather Awards as the Hottest Mambo Dancer and Most Popular Teacher in the U.S.
Teaming together Terryl and Enio Jones won the Cabaret Division and 2nd in the Classic Division at the World Swing Championships and were finalists at the US Open Swing Championships.
Enio has coached 8 Olympian US couples in Ice Dance and Pairs and choreographed one winning World Pro Championship routine. ABC Commentator and Olympic Champion Dick Button called Enio,(and Twyla Tharp choreographer Keith Young,) " The Two Hottest Choreographers in Skating today..." on ABC's telecast.
Terryl and Enio Jones helped choreograph many scenes in the movie "Dance With Me," and trained most of the stars for 6 months.
Finally, in the acting field, Enio just finished choreographing and co-starring in "God & Salsa."
A film based on the experience of a student who found her personal redemption through classes with Terryl and Enio!

I really appreciated having the opportunity to train with Ron back in the 90's. Working with him definitely improved my skills as a teacher.

Okay guys, I have to ask: who is this video for? Other Dallas area dance teachers only? Because I’m about 10m into it, and you never define what the dances are that you’re talking about!!! What constitutes the dances in the evolution you refer to: The Double 2-Step to the Country Progressive to the Progressive Double Two? Unless you’re well-acquainted with each of these already, the conversation is meaningless. This is maddening, and extremely frustrating for someone who really wants to understand. Jeez, guys . . .

Absolutely fascinating, stellar exchange. Enio's articulateness and broad and deep experience are readily apparent. Just wonderful! Superb teaching insights and views about social dancing, empirical learning, skills and focus on the MUSIC. And great humour to boot ( especially about strict tempo, and that silly box step!). World class. Love it.

I have attended World Promotions for over twenty years, and I can say that they are the best and best run competitions out there. They charge comparable to other competitions, but always put their participants in first-class accommodations. They do put Bronze, Silver, and Gold level competitors on the floor at the same time, and this keeps the competition energy flowing, as it can fit a competition in a single day without degradation to the competitors, and nobody sits around for hours while only one couple is on the floor. (And the competitions don't overrun by hours.) And, unlike NDCA competitions, World Promotions have the best supervision of all -- their clients. I am not the only one who comes to Anna's and Andrew's event year after year. We come because Anna picks judges who I know are certified, and professional performers who are happy to mingle with students. We come because Andrew provides fun and excitement during the day, telling jokes, rewarding audience members for supporting the dancers, and playing music that people want to dance to (ie, AC/DC rather than music Lawrence Welk would find too slow). And Anna and Andrew (and the rest of World Promotions) look after the students who attend their events, doing whatever they can to make the student happy, and helping the student if the student has any trouble. World Promotions, as lead by Anna and Andrew Smart, may make a profit on their events (oh, gasp! oh, horror!). But they make that profit but never forgetting about their clients, and making sure their clients have fun with the best dancing experience possible.

It's so funny to listen:)) Andrew Smart aka Worldpromotions Inc took millions dollars from the students to support they own competitions. They run competitions which have absolutely no regulations with some judges who have absolutely no certifications, soliciting students, they even mixing dances at the same time on the floor. List goes on and on what happens when you have no supervision from any respected federation and running event purely based on the greed. Shame on them to talk bad about NDCA, use their members and have no dance integrity.
