I'm a cartoonist, illustrator and web developer in Atlanta, GA.
Disember 2023, Day 1, "mouse"
"Disember" is a new art challenge for 2023 where you get one Disney-related prompt to interpret and draw each day. Not sure how many days I'll hit, but thought it'd be fun to try.
The first prompt is "mouse", so naturally I decided to draw Mickey, specifically as he appears in "Mickey's Christmas Carol". I always loved the opening artwork that looks like it was drawn on rough brown paper. And the hand-painted backgrounds throughout are just amazing. I feel like I overworked this, but it was fun to do. I definitely need to not make them all so complicated.

Artcast 47: Digital Painting of Michael Shannon from The Shape of Water
มุมมอง 2876 ปีที่แล้ว
Here's a digital painting of Michael Shannon from the Guillermo del Toro film "The Shape of Water". All done in Photoshop with (mostly) soft and hard round brushes. BONUS: I recorded the entire process, which was nearly 4 hours of footage. If you're REALLY interested in the entire process, I've made this uncut video available on Gumroad. You can buy just the final jpg and layered Photoshop file...
ArtShot #10: Looney Tunes Leprechauns
มุมมอง 4.8K6 ปีที่แล้ว
iPad Pro art of a scene from the Looney Tunes short "The Wearing of the Grin", with Porky Pig and two leprechauns. Done in Procreate. For some reason, the time-lapse recording skipped the entire inking process. Not sure why Procreate does that sometimes. Artcast 44: Trick 'r Treat painting and Copic Airbrush Demo

I don't do many "real time" videos, so this one is long. In this one I color a pencil sketch of Sam from "Trick 'r Treat" with the Copic Airbrush System. Let me know if you prefer these long videos to the shorter time-lapse ones. Artcast 43: Cassidy from Preacher
มุมมอง 1587 ปีที่แล้ว
Pencil drawing of Cassidy the Vampire from the AMC series "Preacher". Black and white colored pencil on 11x14 toned gray paper. This piece has already sold. Sorry for the changing camera angles, this was shot partially with my new DSLR camera, and I didn't realize I could only shoot 20 minutes at a time with it. So I eventually switched back to my iPhone :( For lists and links to my common tool...

Artshot 6: Adam West
มุมมอง 747 ปีที่แล้ว
A sketch tribute to Adam West. And yes, I did do an initial trace of a photograph for this. Frankly, I tried to freehand his likeness no less than six times, and each time something was just... off. I wanted to finish the piece, so I opted to lightly trace the key features. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Note: The title of the music is "Hero Down", which I thought was fitting. Also, ...
Artshot 5: Pete's Dragon
มุมมอง 2827 ปีที่แล้ว
I'm trying to do an iPad drawing at least every couple days. Sometimes I need ideas, so for this one, I'd asked my daughter what I should draw. We settled on a dragon, and Elliot from Pete's Dragon is one of my favorites. I wanted to do something different, so I mashed it up with my other love, Calvin & Hobbes. If there where an underrated artist on the TH-cam, it’s you mate. 🎉killer illustrations
Aw, thanks!

CONGRATS FRIEND ... very nice works
Hi Andrew, love your studio ! I’ve been through quite a bit of cheaper desks and found most too wobbly to mount recording devices into… would recommend this desk as a stable enough? Or if it’s just preferred for drawing only! Ty!
This makes me want to throw on some Flight of the Concords
You're not a very prolific youtube artist. Old videos thrown together stuff. You could have half million subs or more by now. I can't do what you guys do otherwise I would myself.
My inclination here, Troy, is to tell you in a handful of ways how easy it is to not be a jerk. But trying to put myself in your shoes for a second let’s try and pull the positive out of your comment with the context clues. You probably think AJ is a good artist based on the potential you see for his audience. You lament the fact that there isn’t more content, I assume because you would have been happier if there were more, so you dig what you’ve seen. And lastly, you’re maybe subconsciously reaching out because you wish you could illustrate near the level that AJ has achieved, and like a lot of aspiring artists you can’t help but be a bit awkward about approaching those who art you like. Hey man, I’ve been there, can’t count how many times I’ve approached artists I admire at comic conventions and am a loss at how to simply say thanks to them for sharing their work, that it inspires me to do my own, even if I don’t feel like I’d be as successful. I truly hope some of this was an accurate takeaway from your comment. If I’ve missed the mark on these, if you truly spent time out of your life just to dunk on a friend of mine because you feel entitled to share some jealous negativity, I’m sorry sir. Sorry you’re not happier, sorry your life isn’t how you wish it could be.
I would use a blob of plasticine for holding my ink bottle. It is more substantial than the cardboard you're using and would actually adhere to the desk top. I made a light table out of an old french easel (made a video about that) and used a plastic diffuser. If you mounted the diffuser on the underside of your glass table where the light bulb sits, you wouldn't have to frost your glass. Just some ideas...
Fantastic set bud I love it.
Now that's cute
Nice
I love Audrey 2 she’s sooo funny and sassy😝🥰🤣😂
1 dislike is no match for 113 likes >=D
I love Sam he’s so cute :)
Great video - enjoyed the fact you explain everything really well, look forward to more.
whether it’s in a look or in a book, you can’t get rid of the babadook... dook dook dook
You said you're not quite good at colored pencils and want to start using them more. I definitely recommend blending with solvent if you want to get a really saturated look (since you mainly do markers which are very saturated). You can also do mixed media with markers and colored pencils which would look really amazing; just make sure the pencils go on top of the markers and not the other way around
Are the prismacolers your favorite
I actually really love this setup. I was really against getting a glass drafting table, but the light box trick is making me change my mind.
Glad you like it! I had the same reservations about the glass top, but it's come in super handy.
Andrew Jones mind if I ask where you bought yours?
@@aylinitzel. I bought mine at a Blicks art store, but Amazon has them at a decent price, too. www.amazon.com/dp/B001KWEYP4?tag=atlantajones-20
Great Work!
Get a boom mike you cheapo!
Thank you for sharing this. I like your studio.
Wow, you are so uncomfortable on camera... Small desk but nice setup 👍
Parabéns muito bom trabalho
Nice work, keep up the good work 😉
AWESOME
Underrated Channel! Amazing Work Man!!!
Great work Andrew! ...also loved this movie!
Peter Palmiotti Thank you!
Which is the name and model of the table?
YAHUSHA KING it’s the “Studio Designs 10050 Futura Craft Station”. See the first link in the description for all the product links. Thanks for watching!

The one finger glove is usually used for not smudging a tablet lol, not smudge proofing with traditional media
Thank you, Andrew for the ture of your studio! I like your light table a lot! Yes, try the colored pencils - you would be surprise what a joy and a freedom it gives you! Good luck!
Hey thanks!
This is amazing
Thanks!
I really love the Indian Jones intro! Also you did a really great job on this illustration and I love the timelapse you placed on top of it! Keep it up!
Thank you!
Andrew Jones no problem! You have some pretty cool work and I really enjoyed watching a fellow illustrator like yourself work! The lighting was really nicely done here! Great study!
LOVE the at marker chart idea! I'm gonna do one for myself. THANK YOU!!!
Welcome! It's really helpful. I need to redo mine because a) I've added a set of Copic markers, and b) my sheet has faded too much over a few years.
Love these
Thanks, man!
Nice setup, I already have very similar tilt table saved on Amazon, What I do need is a decent CHAIR for it, something like what you are sittiing on, any info on that? thanks
Thanks! Actually the chair is by the same company, made to match the desk. Here it is on Amazon: amzn.to/2FZND1L. Honestly, anything comfortable would work, and to be honest, this isn't the comfiest for long periods of time :)
NO PROBLEM, keep up the great work.
This is very cool
EnriqueWarrior Art Thanks!
Where did you get the underneath light?
It's just a cheap clamp-on light. Anything will do :)
That’s really amazing how you have an art studio. I gonna have an art studio myself. But only when I move out on my own.
i want that one 😍😍😍😍 that table
These days digital artists are in. I don't see why keep so much hands on art manually when you can do most things with a program. And with just as much signature technique. All I need manually is a sketchpad and pencil. The sketch ain't nothing. It's about the final piece . Only problem is the internal hackers. But manual drawing is more traditional.
I can see he steals, based on the title (from the Indiana Jones film franchise).
OMG THATS GENIUS 😱 the light box
So is the little ink tray. So manny times I have accidentally tipped over my ink. Actually funny story I was taking art classes over the summer 2 and in my first class we were using speed ball ink(because they come in a set) and I hade to run to my next class and I though my ink was fully closed so I shoved it into my hoody pocket but it wasn’t closed
Great video, mate. Can I ask, what's the thingy on the top of the table that holds the pens/markers? Is it some sort of pen holder/tray I can buy somewhere? Thanks!
Fantastic!
Thanks for sharing, nice studio and nice works you did.
You did a good job but I think that the skin color was too dark.
What kind of answer is that?
He shoulded rapresent him as he's in real life and in the show too. He's a white guy, not a marocchian.
