I have a Yanmar 2000 Diesel - LOVE IT!! but I can't figure out if it has a glow plug or not - it has the "glow plug" position on the switch! I runs AWESOME!! Also, how would I find out how old it is - the number on the side says ym2000-04811 thanks Gary (my email is gary@oldtractors.net)
hi gary, from the drivers seat look on the left side of the engine just below the air filter. there will be a threaded plug or a heater unit with a hose that conects to a small resovor on the front top of the engine. it will also have a wire. this is not technicly a glow plug it is a heater and a thermostat when the heater heats the thermostat hot enough the thermostat opens and lets desiel from the resovor flow in and the heater ignites the fuel thus starting a fire in the intake. if there is just a plug no hose no wire then it has no cold start asist. you can purchase this at hoye tactor they have every thing for these tractors. ther is also a compresion release which can be helpful in cold starting. but if it is below 20 F you will need the cold start.

for the correct bolts hoses and fittings like I did you could just buy their kit and be though with it. I bought steering cylinder from tractorpowersteeringcom but it seems to have dissapered. another place to look is surplus center they have a lot of good stuff.
these are defenitly do it your selfer tractors a ym 2000 is 30 years old they are very well built, but were not designed for a front loader. and 30 years is a lot of time for neglect and abuse.so if you don't like doing repairs yourself this would not be a cost effective tractor. I put together my own power steering because there was no kit available at the time. the kit from hoye is what to use by the time you figure it out cut weld drill run all over for bolts hoses fittings and then go back
Don't get me wrong My thought as to broken spindels did not start only after 30 yrs but from day one .I value your info and input I am looking at a YM 2000 used and some of the stories on the web are scarey from changing the fuel filter and then it wont run,from changing the Oring to injector and pump rebuilds without solving the problem Thanks for the video and input great stuff
Anytime you run out of fuel to the injectors on a diesel engine like that you have to bleed. The lines takes about 15 minutes. I’ve had that problem myself. No big deal.
well you are talking about a 30+ year old tractor so I don't think yanmar is to worried about it. but I think to me my yanmar is worth it but I am not thinking about resale value I am thinking about the use of the tractor and how replacing it with a newer tractor with power steering, and loader would cost 20,000 I have owed this tractor for almost 20 years and done many repairs and add ons like steering and probably have 10,000 in it but it was a little here and a little there.
thanks for the info .very pricey over $700 for the kit and almost $300 for spindels thats over a grand added to the price of a used tractor you are getting into the 4 to 5 grand investment ,Is the tractor worth that with all that can go wrong. at the price of the kit I should think the spindels should be included also because the spindels are an issue .Why hasent yanmar offered an upgrade if there claims to customer service and great engineering Mean anything
hoye tractor now makes a complete power steering kit for this tractor. I kept breaking front spindals so I altered a J D 850 front axle to fit the ym2000. hoye now has stronger spindals for ym2000. hope this helps!

Yanmar makes a new heavy duty front axel kit for the ym2000. You can get it at hoyt tractors.
Looks like u have not much articulation now
dont know how far the axle should move but works good for me. at extremes p/s cylinder will dent oil filter!

Do you know if this power steering cylinder kit you bought would work on a Yanmar 2000D 4WHEEL DRIVE...
