Baroque my heart
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 5 ก.ค. 2007
My musical journey began with first grade piano. At that time I turned down an opportunity to play in front of classmates - a decision that I still regret. In the fifth grade I started playing saxophone at the suggestion of my uncle, a public school music teacher and clarinet player. He chose the sax - it is bright & shiny - all attractions for young males. In college and not able to play by ear, not playing rock guitar and having serious piano roommate, I found a new direction playing recorder. Fast forward - I became a serious student of recorder and Baroque music. I played in one concert where we dressed in Renaissance period. Fast forward again - my children started playing clarinet - an odd instrument that sax players often avoid - an instrument with an octave not a natural interval - an instrument with fingerings a mix of the rational and secret hand signs. I thought I could play better than my children - I joined my children in lessons and continue today after they moved on.

Bach BWV 156 Hymn with accompaniment

Playing this beautiful Bach church hymn with accompaniment. The title puts one before G-d. Here is a beautiful rendition on Baroque Oboe th-cam.com/video/tod_rbkXAHI/w-d-xo.html And not to be overlooked, the composition has its own Wikipedia page th-cam.com/video/tod_rbkXAHI/w-d-xo.html

BWV 1013 Sarabande

Bach Sarabande (a slow dance) on soprano sax. This is Bach's celebrated flute sonata. Alas, Bach did not have the option to write for soprano saxophone. Here is a beautiful rendition on soprano (start to listen at 5:24) th-cam.com/video/qTbO-RyJvUQ/w-d-xo.html

Summer Dreams KDC

Summer Dreams from Kristen Denny-Chambers Finger Fitness Etudes, Book 2. This beautiful exercise focuses on independent dexterity of the middle three fingers of the left hand. The melody is a reward for working on dexterity. In various ways the clarinet is a curious instrument - pinky fingers have the highest responsibilities along with the outside of the left index finger.
Brahms Op 120 1 andante un poco adagio

Returning to this beautiful Brahms. The tempo is marked "walking pace - a bit at ease". Brahms believes you follow the rules until you don't - follow the tempo until you don't. I am playing with Tomplay accompaniment which includes a clarinet. I am not completely in tune with the clarinet track.
Brahms No 120 1 Andante un poco Adagio

Brahms only came upon the beauty of the clarinet later in life and then wrote four beautiful pieces. My simple understanding is that Brahms believed in follow the composition rules until you don't. Here is Sabine Meyer's beautiful rendition of the piece th-cam.com/video/V0WiGO51Mz0/w-d-xo.html I have a lot to work on.

Handel's Lascia ch'io pianga with cello

From Handel's opera Rinaldo. Almirena is trapped in the garden of the sorceress Armida and sings for her love Rinaldo. An encore of one of my favorites, this time with my wind synthesizer providing the cello bass line. This is my third version where several problems have been hopefully corrected.

I am playing Meditation from the comédie lyrique opera Thaïs by Jules Massenet Thaïs is an opera in three acts with a French libretto by Louis Gallet, based on the novel Thaïs by Anatole France. It was first performed at the Opéra Garnier in Paris in March 1894 Thaïs takes place in Egypt under the rule of the Roman Empire, where a Cenobite monk, Athanaël, attempts to convert Thaïs, an Alexandri...

look up r/sounding
can you please thug that shit out on camera
The song is very beautiful, very enjoyable.
I have the music and the accompaniment for two flats a little higher. It came to me through Tomplay and I don't think you'd find it any harder. I might be able to print it out and send it to you. It might be easier to take it a little slower but then breath control enters into the level of difficulty. I enjoy that piece a lot.
Brilliant!
Scott, good job! Take 5 is one of my favorites. Kim & Dave
Nicely done!!!
Nicely played!
You are playing this so nicely--making the "little clarinet" sound so much like singing! The first thought that comes to mind is, however, that you might want to slow it down a bit as you get even more comfortable with it--more "adagio." Really fun to listen to! You are really "on your way" on this clarinet journey! Keep going!!
Really nice, helpful idea, Scott
Hello, I was just wondering why you don’t use backing tracks, it’s sounds much better and helps with the timing and emotions, there are plenty enough in TH-cam, you play very well.
Playing with a backing track is a skill and I have just started working on it. Thanks.
amazing work Scott
First like and First Comment! Keep it up Scott! You sound good
