TAS means that I can play the game, save the game state, play a bit (for Knuckles this means checking out where the Emerald Shards are), and now that I know where the Emeralds are I can load back the game state back to what it was but I now know where the Emeralds are. They are too far out of the way and they're not as good as you think. It says "Increases your striking power by 400% on your day of birth.", but this doesn't mean you deal 4x more damage, but rather the Boots power (for example) is now at 120 instead of 30. Hiking Boots has a Boots power of 150 so it's better than Birthday Boots. Birthday Hammer might be useful for Glitchless, though, you only need to revive 7 Pi'illos and I personally never considered Birthday Hammer for Glitchless until now. But it's just as likely to be useless since we don't have much use for Hammers besides sometimes countering. It would take maybe a minute to go get it after Dozing Sands. Might be useful. Definitely not for Any% since we don't revive nearly enough Pi'illos for it to be worth considering (3 in Any%). Might be useful for All Bosses since we do need all the power we can get against the X Bosses.

And that's while using glitches! I would say the Glitchless All Bosses speedrun would be around 11.5 hours, more or less. (I can still save an entire hour in the All Bosses run but I need to have my capture card repaired first)

thank god that in this particular run i was able to undo any error, thus making it (theoretically) impossible to ruin the run. the wonders of TAS!

The time bonuses is incredibly simplistic: If time below 1:00, give 10,000 bonus points. After that, every second loses 20 points, until you reach 9:20 where you finally reach 0 bonus points. There's nothing more to it than that. So some stages are impossible to get full bonus points (Lost Colony and Cosmic Wall comes to mind first)

Not sure what you mean with essay but don't worry the attention span in this video is literally inhumane since it's a TAS, which means I used savestates & slowdown to play as perfectly as I can (but everything done is still technically possible on console hardware)

1 hour of glitchless that can not be avoided (unless you're TAS) it's fun

Also is it actually fastest to skip INTO the truck chase? I thought for sure it would be faster to skip the truck

There are two skips that let's you go straight to the end, but they are significantly slower: th-cam.com/video/mETV63resF0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xQYtH9R6n5Si0Yjf&t=89 th-cam.com/video/HYkBR1jU5fI/w-d-xo.html (this is 6 seconds slower than my better CE TAS of 1:12) Oh, and although my TAS here is not optimal, skipping straight to the goal isn't a good idea because I absolutely need points, so even if it were faster to skip to the end goal, it wouldn't be useful for a run that aims to get A Ranks. Also as long as you credit the original video I don't really care what you do with it. Just don't claim it's you playing it and make sure to state it is a TAS.

If you hit Egg Golem one more time after having already killed him, and you hit him right before the transition, the game just kinda forgets to lock your control so you can move around. The timing is kinda precise, though, I think I've only done it once or twice RTA lol

My favourite way to end Mech stages :) Eggman can go "Yosh! Yosh. Yosh." in Sand Ocean lol

Hell yeah This might have been the only reason I chose not to skip the results screen ngl (optimally you'd soft-reset the game after each level to skip the results screen)

TAS, meaning I can use slow down, save states, etc. I use save states before the start of the level and I check the emeralds before actually optimizing the playthrough. It's a lot deeper than this, I guess, but that's the gist of it.

Re level up glitch: press Y. that's it, the game doesn't prevent you from pressing Y, this saves maybe 5 seconds in the old route (when the WR was 4:04:40, my best run) Re explanation: I did make a lazy tutorial on the glitches starting in Dozing Sands: th-cam.com/video/eIje7suy50Y/w-d-xo.html Though it's low on editing and doesn't explain the bosses, I only made it because there was no Dreamy Dozing Sands Skip tutorial and it's a very long skip with many steps.
