Hi, I was just wondering where you've been. You haven't had a video out in a while. I hope everything is ok
Hi mate, thanks for the concern, I appreciate it, currently I'm swamped by life in general, but I should have a new video next week, hope you're good 👍
I've never got lettuce to grow...! Well, once, but it bolted in the hot late spring (I'm in Germany) and tasted rank. Cool vibes - subscribed!
Haha I got 2 lettuces last year, but they were both stolen by some kind of animal 😭 no idea what it was
Awww.my grandma used 2 keep chickens. I used to 2 feed them th kitchen scraps nd collect eggs.
My fiance feeds them worms and bits but I just thought I'd give that snail a break 😂
Ur a bit discombobulated 2day haha. I no th feeling.
Almost everyday at the moment 😂
Hi, you appeared in my feed, I like your banter and your humor. You should try not burying your seeds so deep, the general rule is to plant the little seed 2× its depth. Make a drill with just the end of your fingernail, add seeds, sprinkle with soil to cover, gently water and cover with cardboard, straw, something to help keep the ground moist until the majority have sprouted I find this method works well for little seeds. Wishing you a good harvest from 🇨🇦
Appreciate it 🙏
O god. When u sed feed him to the snails. U devil 😈
😂😂😂
Lettuce sow some things 😂. My lettuce is doing ok but was much better earlier in the year when it was cooler. Here’s hoping your sowing does well Tom, Ali 🌤️🇨🇦
I can only hope aha, hope you're well
I did not know there was a thing called a "garden dibber" until watching this video. 👍 Been using a weeder tool and it's garbage for that.
Missed ur videos. Im in th same boat. Planted a heap of stuff nd tot my dog wudnt b here still nd th garden wud keep me bz . he had a stroke 9 months ago nd is on heart tabs. But hes gone 18 now nd he needs a lot of minding but is in no pain, just needs me 2 hover over him wen hes out n abt ( which is a lot as he follows me everywhere. ) in case he falls. Id b afraid hed break a bone. So hes taking priority over th garden now and same as u i sed 2 myself theres always next year.
It's all about priorities, hope you're well 🙏
Also panicked when you picked up the trowel instead of just pouring the compost in but then you saved it so it was ok.
When you missed that row I nearly rang you to shout at you
No faith
I get the same compost, from the Range, i get because its really cheap ( 4 bags for £10), and every bag ive opened has been fine, and ive used now prob around 50 bags ( just started a new allotment in april), but one of them last month absolutely stunk ! the only one so far, but everything is growing really quickly and really well, which is a surprise as I really dont know what im doing, learning as im going! ha!
Aren't we all 😂
Thankyou for the clip tip, mine are always falling down the sticks, brilliant, thanks!
I only noticed by accident 😂
Im in the midlands too!
Best best or england, are you east or west?
Good idea using the drawing pins...I will be doing this for my cucumbers this week! Thanks for showing us this!
No problem, it was shown to me so I can't claim anything. Its just about passing on knowledge 😊
We missed you buddy!
Missed doing this as well 👊
😂 I think everyone is complaining about the weather, here’s its way too hot 🥵. Some of the plants are loving it some not so much and I’m watering constantly. Congratulations 🥳 on getting engaged. Have a super week, Ali 🌞🥵🇨🇦
No way, we're the other way round here, it's like summer forgot that it was it's turn 😂 constant rain and no sun. Hope you're well 😊
Thanks buddy!
the uk kid behind a camera here
Thanks buddy!
I couldn't see your plants properly to help you. A close-up would help. However I can see you've got lots of plants. Labelling really helps as things look similar when they are small. I use plastic ones a write on them with a 4b pencil. It never get washed off or fade, and using a rubber you can rub off and use again. Buy decent labels they'll last years. A tip from an old gardener.
4b pencil. I will put that on the shopping list 😊
Dude, your videos inspired me to record a garden tour of mine. I thank your channel in it--is that cool with you? If so, I'll upload (hopefully) tomorrow.
Yeah of course mate, I look forward to watching it 😊
@@the_byways Thanks, man--done! I remember now how much I dislike editing, but the bulk was (luckily) done in one-shot without too many mistakes. th-cam.com/video/w4eeZXI89Jk/w-d-xo.html
Oh lord I got my first mosquito 🦟 bite yesterday 😢, guy next door and behind us have huge ponds so I’m guessing we’ll have lots this year. My round carrots are doing well but I’ve not checked the regular ones 🥕🥕. If that ground is too rich you’ll have hairy carrots 😅😅. Dibber 😊. Getting loads done 👍, have a super week, Ali 🌦️🌞🇨🇦
Oh no, Emily keeps pestering me for a pond but this makes me want to avoid it 😂
I hope everything grows well 4 u . Nd th surprise plants r sumtin gd
I appreciate that
"Underheat" ... You got me LOLing.
I'm embarrassed by how long it took me 😂
🫣🤭 was she digging up a tree 🌲. My tomatoes are battling slugs or torrential downpours, but I’m hoping they survive. Great little clips. Have a super week, Ali 🌧️🇨🇦
Funny enough she was 😂 she doesn't know how to hold back
Those clips are genius!
Thank you 😂@@TheBeginnerGardener
I do this every single year - this year I didn’t even bother with labels because I mess up no matter what- and it was fine one plant had me stumped for a few minutes but it was a sneaky dahlia in with the veggies- I’d like to be organised but I’m not - my seeds made it and that’s a win !
Absolutely a win 😂😂
Yep invest in waterproof markers.
One for the future 😂
Great shot there tom, thanks mate.
😘😘
Yeah, pea plants don't need to be separated, they don't care. Tip: Leave one pea pod on until it's massive, then shuck the peas out and plant them right below. I wasn't sure if green peas straight out of the pod would grow, so experimented last year. It's gold--they grow quickly. You can get a constant flow going the whole season by doing that.
I've added it to my to do list 😊
😂😂😂 Gerald does the same funny when I say can you do this or that he doesn’t hear me, but I’m videoing across the yard and he’s like did you say something. Great idea hopefully it’s tall enough 🤷♀️. Have a great week, Ali 🥶🌧️🇨🇦
She hears everything 😂 you to 😊
I plant in totes ! There's a place close by me that sells them without lids for $1.00! I drill holes in the bottoms for drainage. My biggest ones have giant bird of paradise, large displays of canna lily, sunflowers, smaller ones have calla lily, or individual tropical banana trees etc. They last for years if you get the heavier ones. I buy the cheap topsoil to fill them,$2.00 a bag then add compost, fertilizer and maybe some blood meal or whatever the specific plants needs are. For $1.00 I have huge planters. I decorate them with whatever I have, like colorful cans cut into mosaic shapes and glued on them or nail polish or paint. Love those planters you got but no B+M anywhere near me ! 😁
Nice 😊
Is the dog ok?
The dog is always ok 😂, she's got a cut on her back if that's what you're talking about, the discoloration of her fur is caused by the cream we put on it
Im going to try this with my sweetcorn!
Let me know how it goes, the lady that told me seemed super knowledgeable
I love going to car boots as you can buy garden stuff there sooo cheap
It's sad that car boots aren't as popular anymore
Just subscibed to your channel, I love your enthusiasm!
I appreciate you 😊
New subs looking forward to seeing your journey, Ali 🌧️🌧️🇨🇦
Thank you 😊
Won’t make that joke whilst making that joke 😂
I definitely refrained from the joke I wanted to make 😂😂
Unless I was planting some deep root vegetables, I definitely would have filled the bottoms with empty plastic bottles and jugs (with holes drilled in them) before soil. Just to save some $, lighten the load, and help air prune. Great videos, by the way, been going through all of them!
Yeah that's a good idea, I'll use that the next time I have deep planters
Hi ive never grown sweetcorn in a tub looks interesting im subbing happy gardening Richardx
Appreciate it 😊 I'm confident that last year it was my neglect that caused it to fail, but the tubs are a barrel cut in half so they're not exactly standard
"...And then they go to landfill." 😂🤣 It's like every person in Western countries has figured that out in the past 12 months.
Flip em up, Turn em around, the're 2 for 5 pound.
Hey mate what's the best vegetables to grow this time of year and what are the poly tunnels ✌️
In the UK this is key growing season, you can plant everything from potatoes to lettuce. Poly tunnels are basically long greenhouses
@@the_byways sound nice one mate ✌️
I do grow loads in containers mainly first early spuds carrots leeksspring oinions reddish strawberry as there shallow rooting. It great way to grow to maximise space.😊
And just so easy to manage as well
Hi new sub love your content just a normal guy who enjoys his gardening like the rest of us plus you make you vids entertaining all the best john from leicester midlands.😊
Hey man, appreciate the comment, I don't know if my girlfriend would agree with the normal bit 😂 but still, I'm from Lincolnshire so its not a million miles away
Oh gosh! I NEED SOME OF THOSE! They are mega 🎉.
They've got a great selection of others as well 👍
I don't currently have an allotment, but used to and proper empaphise about you having lots to do! Good luck.
Thank you man, I appreciate it
Why do you shop at Baby Gap??
Soft on my skin
Nice to see a different type of video. Do you ever let them roam further? I'm sure they'd enjoy that grass. Chicken poo is great for the allotment too!
I've got another video coming this week answering some questions I've been getting, but yeah we will let them out of their run occasionally, not for too long as they can destroy grass like a drought 😅
More micro plastic pollution from your drill, you should have melted some holes.
Yeah you're right but I didn't fancy risking gassing myself with plastic fumes
