I love Rimworld for it's complexity and ridiculousness. It fully immerses my attention, keeping me guessing what is going to happen next, while being just a flat out insane survival scenario.
I make Rimworld videos to share amazing and hilarious in-game moments with my friends.

I Beat RimWorld Anomaly with a Ruthless Gang of Psychopaths Episode Five
RimWorld is a sci-fi colony sim driven by an intelligent AI storyteller. Generates stories by simulating psychology, ecology, gunplay, melee combat, climate, biomes, diplomacy, interpersonal relationships, art, medicine, trade, and more.
I beat RimWorld Anomaly with a colony of psychopaths. I started with nothing, I built a massive cave base worth over one million silver. I captured and recruited the best pawns and launched a dog into space. All of it took place on strive to survive difficulty where I was truly challenged as a new player. Can we kill unspeakable hordes of evil entities on our way to the anomaly end game and launch the ship simultaneously? This was played with Anomaly DLC enabled. The difficulty setting was set to strive to survive at 100% threat with Randy Random storyteller. This is how I Beat RimWorld with a Ruthless Gang of Psychopaths. A RimWorld Movie. Episode five.

I've also decided to power up the ship reactor at the same time which should make the ending a bit more interesting. I encourage back seat gaming on my ...

@@Mr.Blob007 yeah it's crazy how fast it regenerated damage. It's almost like it's meant to just tank everything until it completes it's mission. I can't psychic shock or berserk it. I should have tried fire... It even teleported through walls. I think the only way, is to focus my smart people on studying it to find out what really gets rid of it for good. Thanks for the comment! I hope you have a good one! @Mr.Blob007!
Is this a restart from where you left the Walking Dead 2 videos ago? Base and map look different, and you've lost half your colony's pawns I think.
Actually no. I am pretty sure I got destroyed on that last play through pretty quick. When The Walking Dead released Dead City I got the streaming service and binge watched it. Which gave me a bunch of ideas for the Prepare Carefully mod for RM and used that to re create some of my favorite WD characters. That was before I turned the difficulty down from Losing is Fun %500 to Strive to Survive %100. I did that cuz I wasn't making any progress and wanted to do some damage rather than get owned by Randy. I did get Rick to use an orbital bombardment targeter on a base of raiders though. That was pretty fun.
Random clone of a colonist shows up dead* "Unlocks resurrection ritual" (In the business we call this foreshadowing...)
haha true, true... I should have foreseen this. Usually I would toss suspicious monster type's into the incinerator but this time I kinda wanted to see what would happen. To me, it's more fun to find out this way than look it up first. Worth the surprise. Wait a second... Am I that silly? Can I resurrect that pawn now? I'd have to dig him up out of the chicken coup. lol. Omg, this is why I love Rimworld. Welcome to the channel @EnthuZee!
That's genius. Especially you're point, "200 tribals at once can beat 10 legendary pawns with assault rifles. But 10 legendary pawns can beat 10 tribals separately 20 times." I can see myself doing a bunch of redesigning my base today. I like that double thick wall idea. I mean, you can see me learn it in real time in this very short. This is great cuz my playstyle is strange I think. I like to remain slightly ignorant to what can happen to keep it exciting while getting better ideas to use as I go along. Also to amend my approach for next time. Doing that over and over and eventually feeling like I'm getting okay at the game. Keeping it challenging is the goal. Once I make it to the ending on this play through I do want to play one on Blood and Dust difficulty. I'm inching my way closer to Losing is Fun. Which I've done before but never all the way to the end.
Ooh, btw since we both enjoy the combat side of RW, I recently found a new replacement mod for an old fog of war mod that I used all the time. If you want more intelligent combat AI for NPCs (avoiding your pawns' line of sight, actively avoiding killboxes, etc) as well as fog of war over any part of the map your pawns (or some remote cameras) can't see, check out CAI 5000. It's a very different challenge without necessarily having to go 500% threat scale.
That sounds awesome! I really wanted to do a nomadic playthrough and the Fog of War mod I found before was pretty cool. I did wind up ondering for like 20 minutes at at times, but I guess that's what a nomad would have to do... The different AI tactics is interesting. I bet it would crazy to mix that up with Combat Extended. Another one I want to try. The only mod I have on this one, that didn't get included into the recent update, is Blueprints. Gosh I want to play all day, but I gotta run. Have a good one @dakaodo!
@@PoppaBooost2 Yeah, fog of war isn't a big mod request for most players, so the one FOW mod on the workshop has gone through like 3 or 4 deaths and revivings. I was REALLY surprised by this CAI 5000 mod b/c it does everything and the kitchen sink. If you do try it with CE or etc, just brace yourself for unintended mod interactions. :P I haven't tried CE in years, but in general I try to only run one large or intrusive mod or related mod collection at a time, as a centerpiece for each run. Blueprints is a pretty popular mod. It looks like it's been updated (at least version level). There's also a temporary forked version someone already did, until the original gets updated more thoroughly. I know we keep commenting here, but I've finished some of your zombieland/walking dead videos. (I play them in the background while working) But yeah, just pace it out! I haven't played much since 1.3, and went into the 1.5 update with about 370 mods on my default list (mostly tiny quality of life and rebalance stuff). It took me several days to cull all the long-dead mods out, ones that I wasn't interested in anymore, and start replacing my must-haves with new versions (same author or forked versions). I'm down to under 200 now, but I'd like to cull it to under 100 for better stability and ease of maintenance. And it'll probably be another few months before most of the popular mods that are ever going to get updated, get updated. I'm SUPER excited about new runs with all the new Vanilla Expanded stuff (especially Vehicles, which was just a hot rumor and a prayer, when I fell out of RW last time), Red Horse 2 tactical gear and factions, and Save Our Ship 2. There's no way one single run can run all those mods simultaneously, though, so it's gonna be a while. :D Plus the CAI 5000 mod might mess with all of them, so it might need its own run.
200 mods?! lolol that's wild. Oh yeah the zombieland playthroughs were when I started messing with mods. I really like that one. Thanks for playing them! Hope you like them. That was while I was still just streaming and not doing shorts yet. I really don't know where this channel will go. I just really wanted to play RM and already had the streaming software from a previous attempt at a Rust YT channel. Figured might as well stream if I'm going to play it so much. This is great though. I'm happy with a small channel just nerding out about Rimworld. Not trying to get internet famous, just chilling. Rimworld is one of my favorite ways to distract my overthinking brain with a bunch of stuff to think about that doesn't impact the real world. lol. It's a way to think about nothing while thinking about a lot. Such a great game. Hopefully I'll have some more shorts soon. I know this next few hours are going to be difficult. I just split my forces to go snag a ton of plasteel. I want that armor so bad, lol. Catch you soon @dakaodo :D
Algo just recommended your channel to me. I do love some RW! I'll check out your gameplay vids, b/c I love seeing how people use different strategies (i.e. non-killbox) to deal with big raids. For reasons that you showed here (raiders with rocket launchers), I like to go with a kind of miniature castellation or compartmentalized approach. I also use hallways as mini kill tunnels, but my intersections are offset and/or asymmetric to cut down enemy line of sight (usually optimized for high damage short range weapons like the vanilla heavy SMG and chain shotgun). This means when a doomsday or 3x rocket guy gets LOS, my pawns can rapidly mow him down before he finishes aiming. I'll also design my intersections as strongpoints -- basically a bunker built into each intersection. Wall projections and alcoves to provide cover and further break LOS, spaced double door airlocks, etc. This usually makes drop pod raids trivial to contain. I also tend to double wall all my rooms, in case of rockets, grenades, or extended gunfire chipping my walls down. The offset hallways makes the base grid look a little random and neo-cubist, but I like doing this for the same reason that I avoid killboxes and never build into caves anymore. Just got bored of stamping out the same square grid cave bases with killbox entrances -- but I definitely built a lot of them in my time. Anyway, I know this may sound like unsolicited tips, but I'm just a little overexcited to nerd out about big RW raids.
Dude, don't apologize, this is the type of stuff I'm looking for! Great advice. I'm nerding out on RM big time. My saw my buddy playing it back in Dec 23' and started laughing my butt off at all the possibilities. I suppose I could still be in a noobie phase of enjoying the killboxes, but I am for sure open to base design ideas. I think killboxes seem great when you don't know what could happen and are trying to defend against something that could happen. Not necessarily will happen. I do think Construction skill is more important than I realized. I like that double wall idea. Case in point, that blast almost opened up my prison, lol. I like that intersection idea too. I'm gonna have to come up with one of my own, or see something like what you're referring to. Love the comment, love nerding about RM anytime. Welcome to the channel @dakaodo
@@PoppaBooost2 Yeah, good luck growing it. You started quite recently. :D I have 3000+ hrs in RW at this point, so don't take what I say as what you need. Just enjoy the journey and the pawn deaths along the way! I'm sure you'll run into plenty of tips from diff RW channels. AdamVsEverything is a great guy for left-brain breakdowns of how to use and abuse vanilla mechanics. Wealth and raid scaling is a big one, and the number of pawns in the colony is related. When I do combat-oriented RW runs, I try to concentrate high combat skill and equipment on my pawns. More wealth in combat ability means "effective" colony wealth. $200K value of human meat in the freezer just attracts raiders, but you can't hurt raiders with human meat. :D Masterwork and legendary assault rifles, heavy SMGs, and flak vests/marine armor OTOH means even 5 of your pawns equipped this way will absolutely mulch twice their number in enemy pawns, b/c you'll rarely see more than 1-2 pawns clumped together with marine armor, and certainly not with all masterwork/legendary weapons. This lets you concentrate local superiority in one small spot even if you're massively outnumbered on the whole map tile. Feeds into my preference now for kiting and spreading out enemies. 200 tribals at once can beat 10 legendary pawns with assault rifles. But 10 legendary pawns can beat 10 tribals separately 20 times. Similar for turrets, b/c they work in one area, but they do nothing in other parts of the base. A well-armed and armored pawn is basically a mobile turret that can be used anywhere. Killboxes are easy to learn, b/c they're static construction -- tower defense, really. What I described for my most recent play style is a combo of distributing lots of mini-killboxes throughout the base (every room and every hallway), and kiting enemy raids by peeking out of different doors. Kiting takes more micromanagement, b/c the player has to constantly move pawns, anticipate delays from weapon aim time and cooldown (or else a pawn might get hit too many times and become stunlocked). The upside of these self-imposed challenges is that my two combo methods can help me spread out the enemy and relocate to safe fallback points. Spreading the enemy out reduces the peak danger of all of them clumping into the killbox and overwhelming it. The backstory is that I originally didn't understand pawn population versus raid size. I quickly maxed out my raids with 20-40 colony pawns (and too much wealth in storage). Tried to defend with excessive turrets in my killbox and on every alternate approach. Problem was that the killbox and turrets would only work until the raid overwhelmed the killbox capacity. Then my super strong chokepoint became my single critical point of failure, and the raids would flood the rest of the base. This got really bad with 200-pawn raids (and multiiple 200-pawn raids before I finished previous repairs), b/c there would inevitably be a dozen rockets and doomsdays. Combined, they would melt the single strong killbox or chokepoint, quickly exposing my base's soft, juicy inner rooms. Building multiple bunker strongpoints means each one still works as a speedbump even if a raid breaks into it. That buys time for my pawns in nearby strongpoints can continue to shoot with the overlapping fields of fire. Side note: I see a lot of creators building triple thick walls. But those aren't easy to access and repair. Beyond a single 2x thickness wall, I prefer to build a new separate second wall (eventually 2x thick as well), with a 1-2 tile hallway in between. This lets the pawns repair all inner and outer sides of the walls. Also creates spaced armor to dissipate rocket explosion radius with distance. Also also let me easily create 2-door or even 4-way 4-door airlocks that further act as strongpoints embedded in the wall. I usually thicken a 2x thick wall at a doorway, to make it 3 blocks thick for a 2-door airlock with 1 space in the middle. There are some RW engine quirks with pawn collision that this helps prevent. Also, the 3rd blocks on either side are extra reinforcement against my pawns or enemy pawns missing and destroying the walls. But really it's just all about finding your own favorite layouts to suit your playstyle!
I think you could have walked it off once that fire was there, to save crane the pain 😭 still nice job
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback for real! I 'only' have about 800 hours in Rimworld but I'm addicted and there is a LOT to learn. Hope you have a great day @joemama1831
