Being raised on a farm, I remember my little sister and I gathering eggs from the barn. Just having fun, she cracked an egg over my head and I cracked one over hers. At that moment, my father walked in and grabbed me by the hair, dragging me all the way back to the house and whipping me with a clothes hanger. He then proceeded to light a burner on the stove and stuck my left hand into the fire. I still remember the smell of my own burning flesh and his loud voice roaring at me to never hurt my little sister again. He didn't even take me to the hospital, he didn't even bandage my hand. He drove me back to my mother's house (they were divorced) and when I walked in the door, she asked me why I was crying, but I refused to tell her. So, she called me a little girl and told me, "I'll give you something to cry about" and begin whipping me with a leather belt. I went to bed without dinner, still not knowing what I did wrong. My sister and I were just having fun. Later, when I was 12, my father was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. As he laid there in the bed, gasping for air, we were told to leave the room so the nursing staff could change his bedding. While we waited in the hallway, we heard a loud scream coming from my father. The staff member exited the room and when we went inside, my father laid in the hospital bed, deceased, with his eyes wide open. I let out such a sigh of relief because I was happy such an evil man was gone. My mother told me to go close his eyes and I refused. She slapped me in the face and head several times right there in the room, but I still refused. Later, when I turned 15, I started a full-time job and at the age of 16, I moved out and got an apartment of my own. When I turned 17, I joined the USMC and never looked back at my childhood. Those were the worst days of my life and being on my own were the best times of my life. I'll never forget that day and I can remember many other times I was beaten and whipped with no logical explanations. I can't turn back time but, it's taught me to be the man and father that my father never was and to find a woman and a wife that my mother never was. God works in mysterious ways.

My deceased son (stillborn) was named John Edward C. (Last name is protected due to social media). His first name was named after his dad's middle name & the 2nd name was named after my dad's middle name. My dad(rip) passed away last year. And my deceased son would've be 8 years old this year. Rest in peace, my sweet lil angel baby boy.

If the narrator doesn't know the difference between a Bassett hound and a Dachshund, he doesn't need to be trying to identify dogs!
